Amstel Malta to reward academic excellence at the AMVCAs

Nigeria’s leading low-sugar malt brand and official sponsor of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), Amstel Malta, is set to reward eleven Theatre Arts students across the country for their outstanding academic excellence with an all expense paid trip to the AMVCAs, makeover sessions and an exclusive date with Genevieve Nnaji.

According to Amstel Malta brand manager, Hannatu Ageni Yusuf,

"The initiative came to life because the brand which has been the official sponsor of the AMVCA since its inception in 2013, felt a need to encourage these Theatre Arts students who have done well in their academics and give them a tip of what to expect in their career paths”.

These eleven students: Bare Mitchel UzuajemeJesse Bankole .OAribisala Ayobami, Kalu NnamdiKorie Priscaline, Ode IsaiahUniloh Fidelia, Isong Mfoniso EffiongOkiriguo Princewill Ehis, Mark Jonathan Tukura and Okuku Preciouswere selected across five prestigious institutions in the country: University of Lagos, University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Port Harcourt, University of Benin and University of Abuja.

Kalu Nnamdi, leading 400Level Theatre Arts student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, expressed his delight at the invitation. He says,

“This is such an amazing opportunity coming on a platter of gold. It really came to me as a huge surprise. I have seen Amstel Malta’s involvement in the movie industry for a long time now and it feels really good to be one of the beneficiaries this time. I’m really eager to meet with the other students in my field and most importantly the very talented Genevieve. Sincerely, I really can’t wait”, he said.

In support of the fast growing Nollywood industry, which is currently the second biggest industry in the world, Amstel Malta will also be rewarding 4 award winners at the AMVCA with a million naira cash prize each: The Best Male in a dramaBest Female in a drama, Best Movie-Drama and Overall Best Movie(Movie of the year).

“This is one of the many ways the brand hopes to support the industry and encourage people to be the best they can be in their fields. First of, we decided to award winners of four AMVCA categories with a million naira cash prize each but then we thought it important to encourage those who aspire to make such feats in the future. The selection was strictly based on their academic performances, which we think deserve some form of commendation and reward’’, Hannatu adds.

The students will arrive Lagos later this week ahead of the AMVCAs. The Technical awards will hold on Friday, March 6th at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre and the main award event the following day at the same venue.

  10. Why does ds feel wrong?

Feels like d grammys awarding academic excellence...

Guess u they are taking initiative for what is missing... Hopefully, they will delegate it in d future and focus on awarding what they already award.
