Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has passed away, aged 90. The monarch died late last night January 22nd (Nigerian time) in his home. His death was announced in a statement broadcast on Saudi
state TV.
Abdullah became king in 2005 after the death of his half-brother King Fahd. The late king's brother, Salman, 79, has been announced as the new ruler of the kingdom."His Highness Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all members of the family and the nation mourn the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who passed away at exactly 1am this morning (Friday - Saudi time)," the statement said.

ReplyDeleteA GREAT LEADER IS GONE.HE JUST BUILT OVER 500,000 LOW INCOME HOUSING UNITS THAT ARE WAY BETTER THAN MOST SERVICE APARTMENTS IN NEW YORK FOR YOUNG GRADUATES AND THOSE YET UNBORN!
ReplyDeleteA SAUDI ONCE SAID THE AUSTERITY MEASURES WERE HAVING A STRONG EFFECT ON THE CITIZENS,AS HE USED TO BUY 4 LATEST SERIES OF BMWs FOR HIS 4 BROTHERS IN THE VILLAGE EVERY YEAR WHEN HE GOES HOME TO CELEBRATE SALLAH, BUT NOW HE COULD ONLY AFFORD TO BUY THREE!
THAT'S HOW PROSPEROUS THE CITIZENS ARE.
HOW I WISH OUR LEADERS WOULD REALISE THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY,THEY WOULD ONLY LEAVE THIS EARTH WITH NOTHING,WOULD BE ALONE IN THEIR 6 FOOT GRAVE AND WOULD HAVE TO GIVE ACCOUNT OF WHAT THEY HAVE DONE ON EARTH.

ReplyDeleteIt's incredible that in this Morden day, the royal family of Saudi Arabia "The Royal House of Saud" continues to wield absolute political power. They don't have any democracy there. Well at least the Saudi people are enjoying free amenities like free phone, electricity and school. Nigeria with her democracy is nothing to write home about.

ReplyDeleteI like the Saudi succession plan. All the brothers get a few years and then die off. No hogging the throne like Queen Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteRIP great king. Succession plan is established and devoid of rubble as seen outside. Very sincerely it is worthy of emulation by all and sundry especially the developing world where we do bend rules to suit our personal agenda.
ReplyDeleteYes today some kingdoms, organizations are like this rancor free. Long live the new king. Toks
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.
