Postpone next month's elections - NSA Dasuki tells INEC

National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to postpone next month's general election so that the commission can completely distribute the Permanent voters card to prospective voters.

Dasuki gave this advice while speaking at London think-tank Chatham House today January 22nd. He said a postponement within the three months allowed by the law would be a good idea so that all issues bordering on the distribution of permanent voters card as well as elections holding in some part of North eastern Nigeria would be adequately addressed.

  17. CONCERNED NIGERIAN22 January 2015 at 20:24

Yes heard it on channels news too.

The president and NSA also said chibok girls are home bound.Interesting.

Now I believe the theory that was making the rounds months ago that the FG was going to use this as an election leverage.rumors however have itt that the girls that will be presented won't be the actual kidnapped girls.

Lets watch this drama unfold.inside sources, say a lot of money has been spent.they weren't going to use this but with the hand writing on the wall......

My country Nigeria.I weep.I had expected this announcement on Tuesday.

  20. The earlier the elections is done the better! A lot of Nigerians have put their lives on pause awaiting the outcome of the result, so as to enable them plan the rest of their year. You don't expect such persons to wait till March or April to know where he stands!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I thought INEC has approved the use of TVC during next month's elections.Or is there something they are not telling us.Coz this extension he's asking for,its more like an avenue to plan, strategise and exploit on how to rig the elections.Feb 14th it must be o!

  26. I don't understand why these people are bent on throwing this country into chaos? Please Mr President do not allow our country to turn into the Central African Republic or Old Sudan. I know you don't care if you win or loose and I strongly don't think you are corrupt but all those corrupt people around you just want to keep milking this Nation and they might give you an advise that will end up destroying this nation. Please give us a free and fair election and you'll be respected for ever. Please I beg you Mr President.

They know its not possible to postpone the election which is less than a month away. The opposing parties will oppose and Nigerians will oppose.

  70. GEJ and PDP are playing with fire.
Trying to destroy a whole nation because of personal greed.
Most greedy and incompetent African leaders are always trying to force themselves on the people by all means.
Men like them thrive and survive in chaotic societies where they can misuse their office, trample on the rules of law and advance agendas based only on personal greed.
Democratic Republic of Congo going through the same thing right now.
