Actress Ify Okeke calls out her colleagus for 'abandoning' Muna when he was ill

She took to her instagram page to mourn her colleague's passing and blamed some in the industry for not rallying round him when he needed help...
"I truly hate to be a harbinger of bad news but I want to confirm that Muna Obiekwe is dead! And am so angry! Yes not just because we lost another great talent but because in this industry we are not our brothers keeper. Yes, Muna might have wanted or lived a private life but people knew he was sick, people knew his health condition and yet what did they do? Some tried but if they had cried out to the world Muna might have gotten help. We are just colleagues No real friends! Rest In Peace Muna.

    1. So people should not spend their hard end cash? You cannot save the world. If Muna did not want his illness out there, then no one should anounce it. That's typical of us Africans, we keep our health a secret bc either we are in denial or attribute it to witchcraft.

More so, to be on dialysis comes with its own risks. The kidney failure might not kill u immediately, but the risk associated with dialysis are numerous & always fatal. Most often Dialysis Patients will die from infection of the catheter port. Most die of a heart attack while being dialysed. So someone can leave home strong and we'll, but don't come back bc something happened during dialysis.

Also in Africa they might not even realise the port is infected, for it to be changed. It takes millions of Naira to even place a new port. The poor guy might have used all his live's savings for his treatment.

I pray God provide for the ones he left behind & comfort them.

So many people in one way or the other has complained about actors in nigeria not supporting their colleagues in hard times but in this case it seem Muna wanted privacy and they respected that though within themthey should have taken care of him financially without the public. Shey some de buy cars everyday why some de go on privates trips abroad? Too bad! RIP Muna

    1. You just said my mind. The last time I checked it was on this same blog that people were blabbing and castigating those that came out to ask for help. The negative energy was so much and that might have discouraged the young man from asking for him publicly. Please let watch the kind is statements we make especially when it comes to human's life. You knows, muna could have still be alive today ifhe had gotten ffinancial help. Secondly, I thought the AGN started a scheme to help their members health wise. What happened to that ibinabo initiated project which they even went to aso rock with as one of their pressing agendas. Hope you guys don't put these monies in your pocket because death is turn by turn. And you will definitely account for how you lived your life. Nobody will pack his or her assets (cars, houses, channel bag, Rolex watches etc) to the other side when death calls. So what's the heck. Rest in peace muna. You will be missed

  40. It's unfair and unreasonable when I hear actors die because they couldn't afford treatments. Why are all of them in the same industry and making so much money, buying SUVS like it's watermelon but can't save a brother's life. To survive a week in Muna's condition, you spend 66k on dialysis as one costs 22k and you need 3 for a week, I'm sure he was drained financially. To have a transplant in India is 5M which the actor's guild can bring up without blinking. If Muna's case was that there was no kidney donor but there was cash,it would have sounded different. It's really sad.

Yes, he was a private person but from all indications some of them are aware even from the interview wt Ibinabo seems she was aware too what did she do to help this talented Man? All she does as AGN presido is sleep her way thru aso vila.

As AGN president, u should be concerned about the well-being of he members, atleast check on them from time to time abi is that too mush to do? That way, they must av been able to help the so called private man..

  121. May the Good Lord embarrass you with His blessings for speaking my mind and for telling them the bitter truth.

Muna wouldn't have died. It would have been better that we tried saving his life than doing nothing at all. May his soul rest in peace.

  130. Linda sorry about the earlier post, it appears someone hijacked or set up a fake twitter acct. And was posting that all is well. It's so sad, it's surprising that no one knew he had a kidney ailment before he died. I'm sure many Nigerians would have reached out to help in whatever way possible. May his soul rest in perfect peace. You were truly one of my favorite nolly wood stars
