Anonymous 10:06 pm pls you are so wrong about Igbo women. I am one and marriage is very sacred to most of us. Infact our problem is the opposite. We can die in marriage no matter how horrible or abusive it is because society dictates that it is our lot.
My dear am Anonymous 10:06. @ 7:20. Love I can assure you that it was igbo women of your mum's generation who were tolerant. Today's women can not endure poverty and adulterous husband. So let's watch the history rewrite itself. So many unhappy marriages and divorces everywhere. Thank God for education and communication. Women can't and won't take bulls.

You know Benue consists of more tribes than one right, so good luck going to Idoma land and expecting the man to give u his wife, they will cut your D off. Plus your friend is chatting shit. Maybe his family does that not all
@ anon 3:04pm, you just said the right thing. Nathaniel try and idoma man with his wife, even as a joke. I doubt if you will live to tell the story at all. On the other hand, the folktale of Tivs giving their wives to their guests is more of a myth than truth. No one has ever been a known victim or known to have been offered.
But I warn all you male LIBers, do not try an Idoma man, alekwu will deal badly with you, do not try an igede man, akpan will dry you in broad daylight. Do not try the Tiv man. He will hack you with his bare hands. Don't believe all you hear. Same applies to all the states in the country.
Benue people are one of the most wonderful people I have ever seen, very hospitable and peace lovers, but they consume a lot of alcohol, they drink a lot. Aside that, I love them and the way they speak English is funny but sweet. Lol.
@ alloy, biko rapu ife mmanya a. Odiro kwa otua. I am from benue, idoma to be precise and it's almost a taboo to see a man touch a bottle of alcohol not to talk of a woman drinking. I can imagine what you felt before posting this. I am from Benue and I also got the shock and embarrassment of my life when I went for youth service. Though some are still true but all other ethnic groups got dia dark sides too...btw Benue man won't give you his wife, but the level of promiscuity is relatively high and that applies to all places, but they pretend about it. #omoyoruba##benuebreed#
Well am frm benue buh lived all my life in north, all I got to say is dah yhu should not judge let God be the judge. Am an idoma gurl and am proud to be one........ The characters mentioned, I have not seen or hard buh all I kw is dah idomas are nice
Usually I would ve posted a comment like this as anonymous but for the first time I am proud to be a Benue woman. I ve noticed how pple generally on blogs like to put nasty replies to write ups, well every body paid his or her own bundle/Bis wen I was growing up I heard stories about how in the early days Tiv pple use to give their wife to a visitor, well I wasn't in the early days so I don't kwn how true it is. One thing I can assure you all until you go out you don't kwn what pple have assumed about you and where you come from, I remember wen my brother was going to serve in akwaibom I was telling him to stay away from them girls cos of the stories I heard, we all say down here that yoruba are extremely dirty bt is because we use a few pple to judge majority. As for Me I am BLACK, I am a NIGERIAN, I am from BENUE STATE, I am TIV and I am proud
Most of what he said is true,so he shd stop whining. Benue pple(at least the Idoma ones) love sex so much, are promiscuous and unfaithful in their marriages. Some of them even go as far as sleeping with their wife's sisters. The only thing false abt the tweets is the giving of one's wife to a visitor. And Benue can drink ehn, and can give birth to kids like chicken.
An serving in Benue, so I knw little about them. They drink a lot and yes most of them love sex. Even d ladies will chase after corpers but they are so nice and hospitable.
In Unilorin, where I am a student, A lot of my fwends ask the same question but I tell them only if they knew how jealous my people are with their wives, they would be saying that shit, just because you serve in benue and strave some random girls doesn't mean our daddies gives out our mummies as entertainment gift. Terver Ayaka is the name.

People should stop saying what they know nothing about. Even if it is so, there still would be very good ones (who don't eat only yam by the way) just as every tribe and people have bad eggs. Don't mind people my dear. Concentrate on becoming the best you can be and people who meet you will carry the message for you.
Stereotypes. Ibos are greedy, Hausa are foolish, Yoruba have perfected the art of backstabbing and asskissing and shamelessly promiscuous, calabar and Akwaibom boys are endowed, Benue pple are promiscuous and are heavy drinkers bla bla bla. As far as I know the stereotypes I have listed are true. That's my opinion. Oh, I am actually a Benue indigene so there, can we all just shutup on this non issue already.
It is such a pity that anyone/group of persons will paint black fellow naijas when worst things are happening in their own backyards, if they are honest to admit it. When you keep sowing disrespect, inhumanity and ignorance what do you expect to reap as fellow naijas in a shared space?
Heifer please calm down, they are just inappropriate jokes the people of your country like to make . Don't you have your own preconceived notions about other ethnic groups? If you take nigerian bullshit to heart, you will just die
I served in benue, makurdi to b precise even worked at d federal medical center dere. D whole theory abt giving wife as gift na lie, d state is peaceful and d people are friendly. Abt deir gals chasing copers, it's every where in naija all ma fellow copas were active in deir various state..sum people that don't know d road to benue or Aw many tribes dey v wud just talk rubbish
I remember back then, one of the courses i did in my 1st year in the university is Nigerian peoples & culture. and my lecturer said that he was given a wife by his host which he refused. methinks that these cultures may not exists now not that it never happened in the past

Though some are still true but all other ethnic groups got dia dark sides too...btw Benue man won't give you his wife, but the level of promiscuity is relatively high and that applies to all places, but they pretend about it. #omoyoruba##benuebreed#
ReplyDeleteWell am frm benue buh lived all my life in north, all I got to say is dah yhu should not judge let God be the judge. Am an idoma gurl and am proud to be one........ The characters mentioned, I have not seen or hard buh all I kw is dah idomas are nice
ReplyDeleteUsually I would ve posted a comment like this as anonymous but for the first time I am proud to be a Benue woman.
ReplyDeletelol dat was in the ancient days
ReplyDeleteWho you dey follow quarrel young lady
ReplyDeleteMost of what he said is true,so he shd stop whining.
ReplyDeleteEyaaa some might not be true but benue chicks are lose!!!
ReplyDeleteAn serving in Benue, so I knw little about them. They drink a lot and yes most of them love sex. Even d ladies will chase after corpers but they are so nice and hospitable.
ReplyDeleteIn Unilorin, where I am a student, A lot of my fwends ask the same question but I tell them only if they knew how jealous my people are with their wives, they would be saying that shit, just because you serve in benue and strave some random girls doesn't mean our daddies gives out our mummies as entertainment gift. Terver Ayaka is the name.

ReplyDeletePeople should stop saying what they know nothing about. Even if it is so, there still would be very good ones (who don't eat only yam by the way) just as every tribe and people have bad eggs.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind people my dear. Concentrate on becoming the best you can be and people who meet you will carry the message for you.
Orisirisi...una dey take paracetamol for anoda person headache lol
ReplyDeleteStereotypes.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a pity that anyone/group of persons will paint black fellow naijas when worst things are happening in their own backyards, if they are honest to admit it. When you keep sowing disrespect, inhumanity and ignorance what do you expect to reap as fellow naijas in a shared space?
ReplyDeleteCan someone ask this what these 3 things means. Pakwa, yakwa and makwa in tiv language
ReplyDelete08068259409 am a Benuen call if u won fuck
ReplyDeleteLool, A benue man would not share his bush meat, go and catch your own!
ReplyDeleteHeifer please calm down, they are just inappropriate jokes the people of your country like to make . Don't you have your own preconceived notions about other ethnic groups? If you take nigerian bullshit to heart, you will just die
ReplyDeleteOk

ReplyDeleteI remember back then, one of the courses i did in my 1st year in the university is Nigerian peoples & culture. and my lecturer said that he was given a wife by his host which he refused. methinks that these cultures may not exists now not that it never happened in the past
