Nigeria police explain why they invaded the National Assembly today

The Nigeria Police have released a statement explaining why they sent police officers to the National Assembly this morning, preventing Tambuwal and other lawmakers from gaining access into the Assembly ground. Find the statement below...
Following an intelligence report of a likely invasion of the House of Representatives by hoodlums and thugs, the Nigeria Police Force promptly deployed its personnel to the premises to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Consequently, the Police condoned the area and began screening of all members and visitors alike.
In the course of this lawful exercise, Alh. Aminu Tambuwal CFR, arrived the venue with a motley crowd, who broke the cordon, assaulted the Police and evaded due process and the Police had the duty to restore order and normalcy, using lawful means

The IGP seizes this medium to warn all political actors and their followers to respect constituted authority and due process and to desist from the use of thugs to pursue their agenda.

The Nigeria Police shall continually apply all lawful means to prevent a breakdown of law and order in all segments of the society and shall apply the full weight of the law on any political actor who violates the peace and security of the nation.

If the presidency is so confident in itself then it does not need to force or oppress anyone! Foolish people like you everywhere, that is why Nigeria is in this state now! 22. This administration led by GEJ has always prided itself as one predicated on the rule of law. The desperation of the President for a second tenure had pitched him against what rule of law stands for. It is a shame as the international community watches as we display acts only good for the stone age

  23. This is ludicrous to say the least. Known Politicians like Tambuwal always get stronger in the face of intimidation of this nature. Just in 2010, the Cabal rose against Jonathan in an attempt to bar him from becoming the acting President. He swelled through the gang up and emerged the Ag. President in 2010, substantive President in 2011 and still declared in 2014!!!!! Tambuwal may just be getting stronger after all. And for the security boys, tomorrow is always another day.

  27. I think senateshould investigate this. If that is through why do people result to climbing gate to gain access into a lawful venue. They should have only denied the "Thugs" access and not the elected officers.

Polica can lie. If Oga at the top is lying, what do you expect the "Road Block Makers" to do? This IG may not last in this position. I just guess!

  54. Please correct me if im wrong.
Tambuwal declared his intention for governorship, does he still act as speaker or automatically resigns from such position. If yes, was there need to assemble with thugs all in the quest for power. He got what he asked for. GEJ shouldn't be blamed for anythin.

    1. Only political appointees like ministers and special advisers relinquish their positions when gunning for elective positions,on the order of who appointed them. Elected officers don't. Tambuwal was duly elected by his constituency. The issue of whether he remains speaker is however debatable but he remains a member of the house.

  66. What kind of stupid and unacceptable explanation is this coming from Nigerian Police, for God sake, it would have been better for you to have kept silent about the whole scenario, why didn"t the police stop the Deputy Speaker from entering the Chambers? Why didn"t the police stop other officers who are perceived to be loyal to GEJ and his stupid and scandalous PDP, it was when it became the turn of the Speaker to enter the chamber that the so called thugs wanted to cause mayhem, bloody liars from the pit of hell, may God punish you, but remember that you are being paid with our taxes and you can not continue to harass Nigerians in the course of discharging your responsibilities to us.

THERE IS A PENDING CASE IN COURT TO AFFIRM IF RT HON TAMBUWAL IS STILL THE SPEAKER OR NOT.
