Iconic newscaster, Ruth Benamaisia-Opia & daughters cover Allure

If you grew up in Nigeria in the 80s and 90s then you should know this woman. She was one of the original glamour gals of television. Ruth Benamaisia-Opia was the darling of viewers for many years when she was a newscaster at NTA. She and grown daughters cover today's Vanguard Allure.

  14. wow! indeed a veteran broadcaster i met her sometime ago she is very warm and welcoming the husband Mr. Opia went into exile when decleared wanted by Nigeria govt. for looting funds at his disposal while he was d then OPEC chairman.

  16. I know her too well. One of the face of NTA 9 o'clock news. Lovely daughters.

    I also remember Ronke Ayuba, Sienne Allwell-Brown, Jamila Atiku Abubakar,
    Hauwa Baba Ahmed and Lola Alakija. They were all good newscasters.

  19. Her name was just as electrifying as her voice and presence on air. Her days of Newsline and anchoring the news can't be forgotten so soon. Her daughter to her left is her carbon copy. Beautiful

    OMPADEC and not OPEC.

    Hmm, time has gone. 6 Billion naira disappeared while he was chairman.

Amongst other numerous memories- Ruth Benamaisia-Opia, Siene Razaq-Lawal (nee Allwell-Brown), Late Tokunbo Ajayi, Late?Elizabeth Nze- THE REAL & ORIGINAL GLAMOUR LADIES OF NIGERIAN TELEVISION!!!
