Boko Haram has declared war on Nigeria'- Senate President, David Mark

...and what is Nigeria going to do about it? Nigerian Senate President David Mark says recent attacks by Boko Haram members is a clear indication that the sect group has declared war on Nigeria. Mark said this at the senate's plenary session yesterday.
"Clearly, Boko haram has declared war on this country and we must fight this war with all the resources at our disposal. There is no half measure in it. Its not a matter of state of emergency anymore, It is a total war and we must bring all our war resources to bare on Boko Haram" he said.
In a related development, the Senate committee on Defence has summoned the Security Chiefs over the security challenges being faced in the North. They are expected to give inventory of weaponry at their disposal when they appear

    2. These guys know what they are doing. Nigeria's constitution states that "at any time when the Federation is at war, Parliament may from time to time extend the period (parliamentary limit of five years) of five years specified in sub-section 2 of this section for not more than twelve months at a time.

In short, PDP wants us to be at war and therefore suspend elections in 2013. Watch this space!!!

  12. Boko Haram was not officially designated a terrorist group until president Jonathan stepped Up. This Republicans tell us Goodluck is weak on terrorism and doesn’t have the leadership or foresight to keep the country safe as president.

  21. So it just dawned on them that we are at war and something should be done to protect lives of the citizens. It saddens me that no serious declaration to eliminate these monsters is forthcoming. Everyone is busy with upcoming election, criticizing the president without proffering any solution to the crisis. , while the president is condemning with no action.

  39. The other day it was CDS Alex Badeh sounding absolutely out of touch with the overwhelming peril that Boko Haram has foisted on the Nort East (including his own home town of Vintim) and now citizen #3 David Mark is just waking up to the seriousness of the situation! This is the curse of the Jonathan era. An era that has seen gross dereliction of responsibility by one official after another, failure after woeful failure, scandal upon scandal and total disregard for even the faintest of morals. Quite sad.

  40. our so called leaders are very clueless
is the senate president just waking from a coma? or is it bcos BH has not bombed his hometown that why he has acted unconcerned all this years? this is a serious "sorry" case

  41. then go back to the military and fight them back

    ReplyDelete
  42. Are our military even training. Seems they have grown cold n waiting for govt to call for amnesty for BH. Its a pity BH dnt want amnesty cos they r ready to die for wat they believe. I then ask myself, why is it that when we catch some of them, we put them in jail, even trying them in court. Pple dat have killed thousands

    U just woke abi?

May you all in that very-disappointing cabinet not have some level of experienced pain these families have been through, and may the damage you have caused from your inaction not push this country to a drastic point of no return.

  47. personally I like this guy BUT shouldn't he be speaking to the Executive arm of govt? shouldn't they all be directing their story and advice and meeting reports to GEJ? Just because they all roll around with tight security, is it the time to seat inside one air conditioned room and be playing ''I am a senator'' while unarmed innocent people's life are wasting away?
