Photos: Man electrocuted in surulere after urinating on a naked transformer cable

This incident happened yesterday October 18th at Kilo Bus Stop in Surulere. The man is allegedly an Okada man who blatantly urinated on a naked transformer high tension cable and was instantly electrocuted. People in the area say the transformer is a danger to them and are asking PHCN or the Lagos State government to help them sort this out before more people are injured or even killed. See more photos after the cut...

  22. I don't know why here in our Nigeria is that we do correct ourself when things happened. Almost all the transformer is open and children will be playing around there. Let the local government do it cos phcn is so useless here. Imagine u re using a prepaid meter and u will not have lights in ur house. Is like recharging credit on ur phone and u can't make calls with it. We don't have government at all. Look at number one road in Nigeria( mutala Muhammed airport road) total rubbish, no good roads, traffics, long heavy trucks that is loaded with fuels are packed their. Government are waiting for the bad news so that they will use it to carry more money out. Osyda say so. Linda plz put go and see it to ur self

    ReplyDelete
  63. Linda please take note, electrocuted means the person died. But when the person did not die then he had an electric shock Or are you saying the person died?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Poor guy. He'd better thank his stars that unlike the so called Oshodi 'bird lady witch', his ignorant compatriots did not accuse him of being an evil bird that transformed into a man after being electrocuted by electric cables.

    ReplyDelete
  65. please linda solicit for support for this man considering that he is an Okada man with small income and will find it difficult to take the necessary treatment.
please use your blog to help.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree that PHCN should maintain their equipment but for all you know, maybe it had been vandalized and they were not even aware. Hence, the exposure of the wires. Then again, I feel for the okada guy but at the same time, it is very disgusting to just pee on the street. Whether you are a male or female, it is very wrong. There are public toilets almost everywhere now. There are eateries everywhere. Even banks have public toilets and they will not ask u for money to use it like some of the eateries. Your body would have been telling you for at least an hour that u need to pee, before it becomes an 'emergency'. That gives u time to find somewhere to do your thing. Unless u are on the express road where there are no toilets, to me there's no excuse. Pls let's stop this bad habit, especially guys. No be only PHCN get faulty for here biko!

  70. Blood is the best significant electrical conductor in
the body. A typical resistivity value is 150Ω · cm.

Urine and amniotic fluid are better conductors than blood but generally not relevant to electric injury.

Although it is possible to electrocute yourself by urinating on a third rail (carried out by myth busters on their show), you would have to stand unrealistically close to the rail to do it. In most instances, a urine stream would break into droplets before making contact with the rail. Distance is the key.

Please don't try this at home or in Nigeria where witches fly during the day time. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Oya PHCN go and sort out their problem. I'm sure it's not common knowledge that electricity can travel upstream via urine. Now everyone knows.

    ReplyDelete
  72. He was electrified. If he was electrocuted he would be dead.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Will neva help my guy in bringing out his dick to pee anymore wen he's drunk ooo

  74. Interesting!!!!! That's a warning to others

    ReplyDelete
  75. why are u guys feeling soory for the guy... he deserves it. for petes sake "urinating near a live transformer"??? even a dead transformer is a no-go area... its like trying to kiss a cobra. haba!!! the guy na mumu, gutter or bush don finish for lagos... next time he shud go pee near power station... mumu.

    F.O.B sayz so

    ReplyDelete
  76. Aunty Linda ohhhh, you cannot use the word electrocuted when the man did not die. Electrocute means execution by electric shock. Electro and execute. So if the person did not die he or she was not electrocuted, but rather nearly electrocuted. Or you can say he was electrified.
