"I am not in politics to compete" - Desmond Elliot

Over 1000 youths gathered at the Eagles square, Surulere on Sunday Oct. 20th to interact with actor, Desmond Elliot and to endorse his candidature for the APC constituency seat ticket at the Lagos State House of Assembly Representing Surulere constituency one.

Speaking after the event with journalists, Desmond Elliot said
“I have plans of taking this above legislative work, I believe 80% of the youths should have access to tertiary education and still earn a living, so we have a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Open University on admissions and to grant the students work permit. There is also an empowerment program for the youths which will come up soon; we also have plans for the elderly ones with an insurance scheme”.
The actor who graduated from LASU promised wave of change and said he’s assured of winning Surulere for APC as soon as he gets the ticket to run.

  19. Mr. Desmond Elliot, if you aint in politics to compete then why are you venturing into it? Why are you playing to the gallery like the rabble rouser in Ekiti? As far as we are concerned, you are an upstart who just woke up one day and decided to venture into politics mainly for pecuniary gains. That is part of the problems bedeviling our democracy and political sphere, when people who have nothing to offer, people who have not for one day managed a pure water plant or block making factory just dabble into politics on the basis of their parentage or affinity with a political godfather. For you to be a leader you must prove yourself, you must show your dedication, commitment, zeal and the willpower to lead and to serve, that is why people who have shown care and concern for the people will have an advantage your ilks this time around, your commitment and vision of purpose must have been revealed before venturing into the world of politics, not after declaring your political aspiration and ambition. Lastly, you do not need to mention what you have done via this kinda fora, we see things with our own eyes as they develop and unravel.

  20. you see our politicians, they promise to build bridge where there is no river. So Desmond wants to give student work permit when there is no job in the country for graduates and non graduates.how gullible do these people think we are? His manifesto is poor and sounds unintelligent.

  31. Who is fooling who?I am sure Desmond does not understand what he is saying about granting work permit to a citizen of the country. Again National Open University of Nigeria is flexible in nature-it allows one to study and work/husstle at the same time.

  37. I'm surprised on the mad rush by the Nollywood Artists to go into Politics. I don't believe them for this move but be it as it may, Desmond should concentrate on meeting and selling his candidature to the party members qualified to vote during the primaries and not to the public for now cos its not yet time for the public.

  38. Desmond Olusola definitely has no CLUE from his manifesto oh. Did I read you well? You have MOU with open university and will give WORK PERMIT.Since when did you need work permit to work in your own country. ABeg go back to acting, this is comic relief.

  39. How many charities do u have? With all the money you've been making from Nollywood. what change have you been able to make to society.? Young man go act more love movies and STFU..
