Senate approves GEJ's $1billion loan to fight Boko Haram

The Senate has approved the $1billion (N165bn) loan requested by President Jonathan in July to help in the fight against terrorism and tackle insecurity in the country. The loan would be used for the purchase of military equipment and the training of military personnel.

The loan approved will be in addition to the N968.127bn voted for Defence in the 2014 budget by the federal government.

  20. Where is the billions on naira budgeted for the military and national security in the last four years? Who has that money? What was done with it? What has the national assembly done to ensure accountability? Our system of checks and balances is a joke! One billion dollars and BH will go away? Who is fooling who? Opportunity for some people to get richer! Our military men are I'll equipped, police are not equipped, forget the navy... No one very thinks about them, as for the air force... Who are supposed to carry out air strikes on these fools, they are missing in action or they don't have enough functional jets to do the job or go on recon missions. This country just has too much money and the leaders are bent on wasting it till the coming generations have nothing to carry on with. Ask about this billion on a few months time, no one will be able to account for every penny of it. Its a pity, our budget is jst another sharing of the cake!

They are only deceiving us Nigerians. My people will keep being religious fanatics and surely, they are waiting for God to come down to Nigeria to solve our problems. The truth is we need to wake up as Nigerians and ask questions, organize protests to let government know we are getting fed up. We take it from there. If you want good governance, you fight for it..not sit and look attitude
