Pro-Ayo Fayose thugs allegedly beat up Judge in Ekiti State

Pandemonium broke out this morning at the Ekiti state High court after a judge, Justice John Adeyeye, was allegedly beaten up by thugs believed to be loyal to Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, for allegedly being rude to him.

According to Premium Times, Fayose arrived the court house in company of about twenty of his 'supporters' for the Ekiti State Governorship Election petition tribunal which was to hold today.

The judge, seeing the number of supporters that accompanied Fayose to the court house asked him to direct them outside as they were not allowed inside the court premises. This is said to have infuriated Fayose and his supporters...

 From Premium Times
An enraged Mr. Fayose was said to have shouted the judge down. Immediately, the thugs pounced on Justice Adeyeye, beat him up and tore his clothes, while his co workers scampered and shouted for help. Following the development, judicial workers hurriedly shut down the court premises thereby preventing any court proceeding for hours before the police fired tear gas canisters to disperse the surging crowd. Justice Adeyeye is presently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
A similar scenario had played out on Monday when suspected PDP thugs stormed the high court premises, attacked the trial judge, some litigants and judicial workers in the bid to prevent hearing in a case to determine Mr. Fayose’s eligibility for the June 21 governorship election. Mr. Fayose could not be reached on Thursday morning. He did not answer or return calls to his mobile telephone.

  33. What goes around comes around. When another governor in the SS stormed the House of Assembly and supervised the brutalization of a member of the House who was not in his camp, the media hailed the governor as hero of democracy who is being vilified by the presidency because of his stance against the system. Now the original ogbologbo thug of Ekiti has borrowed a leaf from that and now taken it to another level. Imagine! Terror begets terror! Meanwhile, APC people like to manipulate the judiciary to award them what they can't get through the ballot. This guy won't allow such to happen as you can see.

  48. This is a very sad and dark day indeed for Nigeria & a State that produced the likes of late Justice Olatawura, Prof J.F Ade Ajayi, Cheif Afe Babalola SAN etc.

The reputation of the judiciary is in tatters. If a high court judge(Court 3 for that matter) could be beaten up by some nobodies just becos they are politician then we are all in grave danger. So much for the state of the "Fountain of Knowledge".

It amazes me when educated Nigerians cant read btw the lines, they cant decipher when lies are being fabricated by press loyal to certain political elements, where is the evidence of this alleged harassment, do you want to tell me that on one in the court room captured act? are there no APC loyalist in the room? until there is a concrete evidence i would never believe anybody in his right sense would descend so low, let alone a leader like Fayose

  61. Yes Fayose is a thug but for u to sit in d comfort of ur home and say dat Ekiti ppl are or were in peace snc d regime of JKF is a mere Fallacy. Y not ask urselves y Ekiti ppl will choose a reknowned criminal above a perfect gentle man? Y not ask if dis is d first election Fayose contested after bn pushed out of d state in 2006? He lost a senatorial election in 2011. Ekiti was tired of sticking to a governor of whom so much was given and little has bn recvd. Many sacrificed dia all 4 Fayemi to bcum governor but after 4years has dia sacrifice bn worth d while? NO. I read dat Ekiti slod dia future for mini bags of rice bt y nt reason y Ekiti will reject 5k shared by d APC on election day and accept mini bags of rice? U May rant and direct abuses at d ppl of Ekiti, But Ekiti has made its choice. PDP and APC are all filled wt same sorts of politicians its jst a matter of sticking wt one devil above anoda devil. 72. Just a tip of the iceberg that is, I surely know! There's still so much more to expect! Results of the stomach infrastructure Ekiti people chose over the Fayemi alternative! Ekiti decided afterall!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I know Ekiti people - even the educated ones - they are inpatient and temperamental. It's one of the poorest states in Nigeria. There is nothing Fayose can do to improve their situation. The stomach infrastructure will continue for a long time in the State and they will continue to complain. This is one of the consequences of creating states based on ethnic affinity, but that are not economically viable. I wish them luck.
