Nigerian man dies after jumping off 3rd floor during drug raid in India

A 35 year old Nigerian man named Obyeka Anwanbukwa suspected to be involved in drugs peddling died on Saturday September 13th after jumping from the window of a third floor flat from a high rise (pictured above) during a drug raid in Akash Bhavan in th eBhaunagar area of Pimple Gurav in India

According to reports, a joint team of India's Narcotic Control Bureau, NCB, and some police officers, stormed the apartment where the deceased and his other Nigerian friends were staying around 8 on Saturday night and while being interrogated, Obyeka allegedly ran off and jumped from the 3rd floor of the building. He died of his injuries a few hours later. Continue...

"He tried to flee when asked about his involvement in drug peddling and jumped out of the window. He suffered injuries in the legs and other parts of the body and was immediately rushed to the Aundh District Hospital. After primary treatment, doctors declared him to be normal and the NCB team left for Mumbai with him. However, he complained of feeling unwell, following which he was brought back to the hospital, where he died during treatment around midnight," SPI Saifan Mujavar of the Sangvi Police station said.
His Nigerian friends are demanding for a thorough investigation into the cause of his death. A Nigerian, Bob Frany said "Police should submit his autopsy report to the Nigerian Embassy and also investigate the matter properly,"

Indian Police has however registered a case of accidental death under Section 174 (police to inquire and report on unnatural death) of the Criminal Procedure Code in India.

His body is presently at the Sassoon General Hospital and a post mortem is expected to be done on him today.

  30. This is really sad news
Since follow Nigerian friends are demanding for a thorough investigation into the cause of his death, I doubt if the police info is right & genuine. Why will someone join out of the window when he has never been accuse.

  45. Foolish idiot how many ct scans do you have in Nigeria here? Igbo guys will never respect themselves always doing drugs.......India is as corrupt as naija and not all hospitals have good medical equipment.....if u are not guilty why run? I don't have a problem migrating to another country cos ur country is not the only place u can be blessed, but while out there respect yourself and live within the ambits of the law.....

  46. In a very nutshell ,yes it is a known fact that some of our boys not all are not into good business whether in Nigeria or outside Nigeria. This is not only perculiar to Nigeria, all over the world u find people committing crime day by day.
In this case,it is universally known that India is number racist country in the world (u can google it)as such they don't only hate Nigerians but they don't like all foreigners.
If the cause of the death of this Nigerian is carefully looked into, one will see that there is something behind it.
Just like our brother said, why did they discharge him immediately from the hospital ?.I have lived in India for many years and I know that they Indians don't want to see foreigners in their place.
