Fashola orders reversal of LASU fees to old charges

Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has directed the immediate reversal of the school fees of Lagos State University, LASU, which was increased by the government to what it was as far back as 2011.

Governor Fashola gave the directive today August 7th at the convocation programme of LASU which held earlier today at the LASU Ojo campus ground.

The reversal comes after months of protests by students and lecturers of the university. Continue...

The Lagos State Government had in 2011 increased the fees from N25,000 to N198,000 for humanities & education, while medical students were to pay N350, 000. After the protests, the state government approved a reduction by 34 to 60%, a decision which was refused by the students.

That reduction would have seen students pay between N76, 750 and N158, 250 depending on the faculty and year of study.

Why wait till an election year?
Are you connecting the dots now Ceeflo?
If APC wins Lagos in february 2015,before december of same year you'll see a major fee hike that'll make mockery of the old one

  35. Nigerians are the most unappreciative set of people have seen and every good did in Nigeria must be called a political gimmick, can't we appreciate people for doing what is right and leave it at that. Wasn't he an Apc governor when he increased it and did he think about the damage before he did it, am sure before u finish reading dis comment u will start attacking me but truth be told, am tired of every body seeing things the government do or does as a fact for winning next election and truth is why can't we look at the candidate that parties contesting in next year election will field before u decide which party u voting for remember, the youth alone can change the faith of our beloved countrymen people should start showing us why their parents paid allot for dere education because it needs to start showing in us. If d governor didn't listen what would u have done nothing, vid Jonathan doesn't listing , it would have still being d same nothing. Pls let us help our country grow and let us consider fact and figures before we judge. Am just saying

  36. Common sense- Ekiti state impact! They are afraid of losing Lagos. LASU students should prepare or a reversal of the reversal in 2015 if they vote APC in! Very simple. They are very deceitful. What they are saying is; let us give the fools a reversal for now and we deal with them later!!!

  37. Governor Fashola, please I beg you in the name of God and all that you hold dear, please lift the embargo on employment in Lagos state. I've applied to many places without success and I really hope and pray I get into the Lagos state Civil Service. You're a listening Governor and I know you'll do something very soon. God bless.
    *Linda please post this.

  51. Holding and running a public office is a crazy job, while you want to make things around you improve, you also have to manage those who want you to fail. I agree he's insensitive but he gets the job done, you can hate the man all you want but if he dies today, his name will be on the sands of time. If there's been no improvement in your area during his tenure, I guess you are part of the few who haven't witnessed changes . It's a continuous a process, the next administrator will continue the good work (if he's as committed). Let's admit it, Lagos has changed and we hope for better days ahead.

  52. All Na politics, PDP has gotten Ekiti State from APC, they don't want to lose Osun State too.
