Governor Okorocha gives shoot-at-sight order for cultists in Imo state

A bit harsh, or you approve? In a bid to tackle the increasing spate of cult activities in the state, the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha yesterday, July 25th gave a shoot-at-sight order for cultists to security operatives attached to Ohaji Egbema LGA where 6 people were killed during a clash between two rival cult groups known as Day-Gbam and Day-Well. Lol. See name of cults.

The governor gave the directive when he paid a visit to the troubled local government area, plagued with cult activities, where residents are said to be living in constant fear.

The governor inaugurated an Anti-Cult Task Force, which comprises of the Army, Police, SSS and the Imo Security Network, and gave them an order to shoot cult members at sight. The anti-cult task force will be deployed to troubled areas in the state to search for and move into cultists’ dens as part of measures to improve security situation in the State.

    3. The rate of cultism is alarming here in imo, just d other day during a meeting wit students and management, a boy narrated how he was forcefully initiated by another guy, even though the guy was caught, his life is still in danger..itz a welcomed development , buh we know how nigerian armed forces act na, they will start misbehaving, I suggest d use rubber bullets ooo..

    4. Hmmmm, a. Suspects assumes innocent until tried in d court of law. Therefore, use rubber bullet to get them arrested and tried them before final judgment.

    5. God bless you! The armed forces will use this as an opportunity to kill people recklessly!... This will only help unjust extrajudicial killings in d state knowing how trigger happy and useless our armed forces are! Linda post my comment oh! And can you make a post on police and their illegal check points in Lagos Linda? Luv you!

  3. Way too harsh. Abuse of power if u ask me. A person remains a suspect until proven guilty only then can you decide what approach of punishment to take. What if you shoot on sight only to realise the person was innocent. Rochas should face other pressing matters in Imo including poor road networks, unemployment and untidy environment to mention a few. prettyprecious0018@yahoo.com

Linda u dey laff abi for ur info deygbam and deywell were two prominent and strong group that almost ruined portHarcourt from borokiri to diobu they held reign supreme until the police dislodged them.
so if the governor of imo state says shoot at sight it is shoot sight it is a welcome development only the innocent would get claimed in this war and a lot of people will b setup security forces need to be careful and investigate

A person should be tried an for a crime he/she is alleged for, if found guilty, proper sanction should be administered. Giving such order will cause more harm than good. I know Nigerian Police, with this order they might shoot a pregnant woman and tag her cultist. Someone should talk sense into his head.

  29. Now they will start Killing innocent citizens, why shoot at sight? Why not capture them and interview them so we can get more useful informations from them ?or do they also stronger weapons than our military? These are questions okorocha needs to answer.

  30. Not too good, they should be very careful, or they might shoot an innocent person.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Although its a bit harsh 4 him giving such orders, that's about the only way 2 curb this menace as the cultists would b scared of the law cuz now its in a direct treat to their lives else the incident dat just happened will only b d beginning Governor Rochas Okorocha is an intelligent man, nice move.

  41. Governor Rochas Okorocha shoot-at-sight order for cultists (or ANYONE) in Imo state is the most bizarre, idiotic and myopic statement of the month. BUNKERS. Is he calling for JUNGLE JUSTICE? Is he calling for EXTRAJUDICIAL PUNISHMENT? Is Rochas Okorocha calling for EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING? How about the RULE OF LAW? Are there no JUDICIARY in Imo State? Does Nigeria not have a CONSTITUTION? How did a stupid and ignorant man get elected as a State Governor? Rochas Okorocha, how about if someone was wrongly accused? How about a shoot-at-sight justice for corrupt politicians? How about a shoot-at-sight justice for moronic politicians? Rochas Okorocha, for your information, this is 2014, not 1914. In a civilised society, victims, criminals and none criminals have rights. In a civilised society where there is rule of law, if someone breaks the law, they are arraigned before a court of law, not unlawfully deprived of their Human Rights and not unlawfully deprived of their right to a fair trial. In Nigeria, when intellectually challenged, but devious and crafty politicians are looting the treasury and impoverishing the masses, they intentionally make bizarre and alarming statements and divert public attention and occupy the public's mind in foolishness and frivolous debates, while they are enriching themselves and stashing their loots in PROPERTIES IN EUROPE, SOUTH AFRICA AND AMERICA and truckloads of £££s, €€€s & $$$s in OFFSHORE TRUSTS. Pathethic.
