Beauty of the day: MBGN Model of the Year, Precious John

Stunning beauty Precious John represented Gombe state in the just concluded Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant and I was one of the many who were shocked that she didn't make the top15. I thought she deserved to be in the top 5. She was even the number trending topic on twitter on the day of the pageant. Anyway, Precious won MBGN Model of the Year at the pageant and gets a modeling contract with ISIS Modeling Agency. See more pics of her after the cut...

  5. She would have won if that modelling agency didn't pick her out first. If companies like lacasera pick dis ambassador they don't stand a chance again

  10. Black beauty, d moment silver bird stops crowning light skinned girls dats wen we will win miss world again, dats y we are African, whites dnt wana see dier duplicate! Its just like saying Nigerians can sing blues more dan d whites dat owns/created blues... D whites love originality, sadly silverbird tinks otherwise... All d beauty Queens are light skinned since 2006

With an exception to 2009 (Glory Chukwu) and 2012 (Isabella Ayuk). The rest have been of caramel complexion to high yellow. Nigerians sha. We are the only African country that does this. South Africans on the other hand will pick a white, Indian, or "colored" girl. Can't we take a cue from miss Ghana who was dark chocolate and came 2nd runner up. Mtchewww these pageants sef will push me to agree with Excetera.

  19. She looks a little like Tiwa, very pretty. That said why Precious John? Why are we Nigerians slowly shedding our cultures, traditions and our way of life to embrace the western ways? Is a regular traditional name now a bad thing? Even in Hollywood exotic names are the in thing and here we are shedding them?

  20. How come this stunning African beauty did not become Miss Nigeria? I don't always know on what criteria their judgement is based. My observation about these panels of judges in any case is once a judge expresses a view abt somebody, negatively or positively, others wil follow blindly no contrary view.

  44. #lindaikeji it's about time for mbgn organizers understand that "bleached skin " is not true beauty and must not compete. That's why since Agbani reign nigeria hasn't come close to first 40 in international pageantry. FYI Anna banner is not a model and wasn't supposed to win..no hate but speaking the fact..nothing about her is charming or stunning!

    ReplyDelete
  45. With the main crown reserved for the light skinned, the consolation prizes in lesser categories are handed out to the darker skinned women. If this woman is so striking that she got a modeling contract from the competition, she should have won the whole kit and caboodle.

  46. Truely Beautiful. lovely pics

  66. She look's too fake.

    ReplyDelete
  67. She's aite. Airbrushed to within an inch of her life though.

But as a Fulani woman I roll my eyes every time I see non-Fulani ladies wear our cultural attire. I can guarantee you you'll NEVER seen an authentic Nigerian Fulani woman wear that belly-top and skirt combo. EVER. And none of the girls wearing the clothes are ever as beautiful as authentic Fulani women either. *sigh*

  68. Agbani Derego was dark skinned and won, i don't believe silver bird deliberately choose lighter skin ladies, it just happens that among the ladies who turned out for the beauty pageant the lighter skin ladies where more beautiful. Yes black is beautiful but fairness is more attractive, you either take it or leave it besides this lady has a great body on the face she's simply okay. Omalisha

Its girl like this they should pick to represent Nigeria in Africa's Next Top Model. Aside from Opeyemi, i wasn't too crazy about Joyce and especially Omowunmi. For Ghana, Angola, and Uganda they picked stunning girls, but Nigeria'own was on a long thing.

Some of the girls that didn't win can try Africa's next to model, auditions will be holding soon.
