Adamawa state Governor Nyako impeached, deputy resigns position

Adamawa State House of Assembly members this afternoon July 15th impeached the state governor, Murtala Nyako, following a report by a 7-man investigative committee that probed allegations of gross misconduct and financial impropriety against him.

The report, which was read by the State Assembly Speaker Umaru Fintiri on the floor of the House, found the governor guilty of all the 16 allegations of gross misconduct. 18 out of the 24 members of the State Assembly then signed a resolution removing the governor.

The House then passed a motion that the Speaker, Umaru Fintiri, should be sworn in as the state’s acting governor. According to reports, that will be done by 4pm today.

Meanwhile, the state Deputy Governor who was also investigated by the panel, had resigned his position earlier in the day in a letter he sent to the House of Assembly which was read by members and immediately approved.

This was what caused the civil war(same igbo tribe started the war because of tribal sentiment now they are asking for compensation for there madness). I know apc(yoruba and hausa) will rule come 2015 and you willbe dumped into the bin. Linda you are igbo but you must post my comment.

  10. So after all his efforts to evade impeachment, even the emergency public holidays couldn't save him.
Many Governors are guilty of the same offence which resulted in his impeachment, but his own undoing was fighting the powers that be.
And Nassarawa state Governor, has been served impeachment notice too.

  52. How does dis settle all d instability we have in dis country?. Nigerians, we need to wake up. We shouldn't allow anybody USE us in 20015. Any politician seeking for vote should give us good reasons y he/she should be dere. We deserve to know what dey do for a living(if d person is a first timer), what d person has done (if he/she is seeking 2nd term) and d plans d person has aspa making d country beta. For me, once I smell despiracy I won't vote for u. U can't b desperate to want to serve. NIGERIANS WAKE UP

He may have been 'guilty as charged' but if he had learnt to speak when and how necessary he would have remained on seat until his tenure expired.

  58. "There is a day of feasting and a day of famine
Day of sadness and a day of joy...
So the day arrived when you least expected
Cos you always thought you were well protected
Now you feel like a fish out of water
So now you are wondering what's the matter.
Oh, remember you said it wouldn't happen to you
Now you are thinking how to start anew.
A drowning man will catch at a straw
You were warned but you wouldn't take heed
Everything in creation must obey a law
It's true in words as it is in deed
You were so puffed up in your pomp and pride
You're exposed you got none to hide
You used to look down on the folks beside you
Never you think you would have come down too."

Nigeria is supposed to be the shining light of Africa, but what do we have.we have leaders or rulers who will rather play politics with our lives than do anything meaningful. Nigerians are magas and our politicians are fraudsters
