Boko Haram kill 300 people in fresh attack in Borno State

According to reports, Boko Haram men struck again on Monday night May 5th, killing 300 people and burning several houses in Gamboru Ngala, in Borno state. The men reportedly came into town in armored personnel carrier and armed with Improvised Explosive Devices, petrol bombs, assault rifles and Rocket Propelled Launchers. They targeted the market in the town, shooting people and then proceeded to set ablaze houses and properties in the area.

Confirming the incident to BBC Hausa service in Maiduguri, Senator Ahmed Zannah who represents the area at the national assembly said the 12 hour attack happened in the night when the people were sleeping. Continue...

"The attackers stormed the communities in the night when residents were still sleeping, setting ablaze houses and shooting residents who tried to escape from the fire. About 300 persons were confirmed dead after the incident, with several others injured. Almost all the houses in the communities were destroyed by the hoodlums who threw IEDs at the buildings. My brother who was at the scene of the attack told me that the actual number of the dead cannot be ascertained but at least they are up to 300. In fact, as he spoke he wept following the high number of the dead bodies which littered the market.” he said
According to him, the Islamic sect men gained access to the town after the military men stationed there moved out to pursue the sect men following intelligence report that they were sighted at the Lake chad axis with some abducted girls
"It was just an hour after their withdrawal that the terrorists invaded the town, shooting everyone at sight and setting buildings on fire. So far 200 vehicles and thousands of houses, shops and an outfit of the Nigerian Customs Service, (NCS) were all burnt”, he explained

How possible is it for the BH to operate for almost 12hrs without any intervention from the soldiers? Its either the soldiers are not telling us the truth,or the medis didn't carry the story well.

  43. Nigerians, let us take a minute silence for those who lost their lives to the terror of boko haram, may their gentle souls rest in peace.this is my problem, we are refusing to realize that the immediate problem we have as a country is not the government, rather its the Northerner and their terrorists. its interesting to know that All over europe, northern Nigerian students are on scholarship with 3000dollars monthly allowance because they come from the north. again the immediate problem is not the government but the north, they are so used to power that the fact that they don't own it any more troubles them, as such they are doing this to make sure the government is frustrated out, getting this government out is not my problem, but killing innocent Christians to get them out, '' na there problem dey o'' let us not take this issue as a joke rather let us fight against terrorism not by jesting the government, but by supporting them in the fight against terror, believe me its only a fight against us and the evil terrorist of the north, ''and them no go smell that power if na so dem want take enter'' the northerners are desperate and they are ready to kill any one, they have been ruling us for 35 years, out of 54, still no benefit no head way, this whole drama is all political because a Southerner is in power, Nigerians be wise the president was not the police chief that allowed the leader of this boko group to escape, ''abi president go go dey watch prison again?'' support the fight against terrorisim, stop distracting the war with protests and jest pictures or videos, the lives of our brothers and sisters must not go in vain. SUPPORT NIGERIAN YOUTHS IN DIASPORA FOR GOOD GOVERNMENT.

    -------------------------------------------------------------
I don't totally agree with Soyinka how he related to the First lady, But he made some points I would count relevant to open the eyes of Nigerians.

And about the First Lady, is it ever in the constitution the First Lady is a Politician. To be honest, His Excellency President Jonathan has shown us he is clueless how to run a country, Nigeria's issue is not a family matter, we need to feel like we are a part of this country, we need to feel like our efforts counts. Nigeria has grown from bad to worse, I can't say any better of the past leaders because their ideals were obviously not in favor of the people.

I really don't care if the First Lady has an English Language defect, its a language afterall, and I can't speak Igbo Language, or Yoruba fluently myself, so that isn't a yard stick to justifying her capability. So I'm not going to touch her issue very much.

Imagine a country where 18yr olds have no clue what their life would be lead without full help from their parents. Some people work 1yrs and are only able to save up to 300,000 naira, yet its not enough to pay a rent for a comfortable place for a year. Our youths are desperate, and would be easily be swayed by Money or otherwise, whether we like it or not, the issue of Boko Haram is only minor to whats to come I presume. Youths are the leaders of tomorrow, imagine what would happen if they are never giving that chance, villains will be born.

We are only caressing our wounds if we don't look at our issue of from a different perspective. I will give an instance, Mandela remained on the U.S. terrorism watch list until 2008, when then-President George W. Bush signed a bill removing Mandela from it. Did you read that, "Until 2008". This Boko Haram situation has gone beyond just creating committees, its just shameful Jonathan has the wrong people around him.

To be honest, I think Prophet TB Joshua should be Monitored closely, he has successfully prophesied certain grievous events. I know a lot of people would disagree this notion, but Boko Haram has infuse religion has their drive to most of this kidnapping and killings, so I don't think its weird enough to monitor him.

I'm not saying he should be arrested, I'm just saying he should be monitored real close including people who have confidently prophesied anything relating to death of Nigerians and politicians.

OMG! did I just say "PROPHESIED" Sorry, I meant predicted. To me, the whole thing "could" be more of a Propaganda than a prophesy.

Organized Religion has been wrongfully used in this country to propagate so many things. God Help Us. Don't get me wrong, I am religious and I don't hate God's servant, the issue on ground has gone beyond skipping heads.

P.S My comment is because I'm concerned as a Citizen.....and I believe I still have my Freedom of Speech Rights as a Citizen of Nigeria.

IBB,atiku, sanusi lamido, buhari and d governors of these northern states are behind all these and if they cannot secure their states, who will? Time will definitely tell the truth of what is happening in Nigeria bcos JESUS the son of GOD is risen and alive. Hausa people are devils n vampires. Let GOD judge us all not humans.

  64. I think the northerners are actually doing all these to themselves in the name of politics. My questions is, where was the source of the information that the abducted girls were spotted with the boko haram members before the military men were moved from their stationed point?. Immediately they left an attacked was lunched by this so called insurgents. An to this questions by the northerners will go a long way in helping them, because I understand that so people are sent to fabricate false informations to distract our military men from doing their job very well. Military can only work very well with good informations given to them.

    Things have indeed fallen apart

Niyi Osundare can en script a poem
Even if he's long gone ghost
    His bewildered lawn
has been blasted by Boko bombs
    Our painful plight
    Its still his business

Christopher Okigbo, do what you do best
Your hands may yet be dust
pierce the heart of Boko horrors
For they take the path of thunder
Neglecting the fears of Black Orpheus

Ken Saro wiwa, you suffered great injustice
    Your nonviolent campaign is needed
Even tho your soul seeks revenge
Draft a journal to Boko leaders
We can't handle bloodshed no more

Dennis Osadebay, your power of attorney
    Can still be exhumed
The fear of biased party politics
    Is causing massive blasts
    Of insignificant reasons
    Write to your party movement

Uche Nduka, write to the poets in their youth
To anger the leaders with the Bremen poems
They deprive the flower child of a second act
If only the night Eel on reef
    Heart's field and Ijele
    Will send belltime letters

Wole Soyinka, criticize Nigerian dictators some more
They come in military disguise of misshapen silhouette
    Causing chaos of well-seeming forms
Wright a play of not the Lion and the jewel
Nor The trials of brother Jero
    But of The Swamp dwellers
    And the Horrors of Boko.

AN EYE WITNESS ALWAYS ALWAYS SEES THESE EVENTS, RELAXES AND COUNTS BODIES, HAS ENOUGH TIME TO REPORT TO HIS BROTHERS (NOT ARMY OR POLICE) AND YET HE SURVIVES THE SLAUGHTER WITHOUT A SCRATCH. I AM JUST ASKING O O O. EVERYTHING IN NAIJA IS TURNED TO POLITICS. MY OWN KOBO SHA AS I DONT BELIEVE THIS STORY AND MANY ALIKE.
