Adamawa villagers today killed 70 Boko Haram men searching for food

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, no fewer than 70 members of Boko Haram were killed today May 16th by members of a vigilante group in the Madagali town of Adamawa state and captured seven alive who they handed over to the police.

The vigilantes reportedly acted after they were tipped off by a local food vendor that the militants were coming to get food before heading out for a major operation to raid villages in the area, usually carried out at night.

With this information, the vigilantes mobilized, laid ambush and patiently waited for the men of the sect. The men, numbering about 100, showed up later at night to pick up their meal and that was when the vigilantes attacked them, killing most and arresting the ones that survived the assault. Continue...

Today's attack is reportedly the second time this week that local vigilantes have defeated Boko Haram men. A security source told SaharaReporters that resident in many remote areas in the North seem to have decided that the best way to repel incessant attacks by Boko Haram insurgents was to take matters into their own hands.

A vigilante member involved in today's ambush told a Sahara Reporters correspondent that Nigerian soldiers appear unable or unwilling to wage an effective war against the insurgents.
"They (soldiers) seem to be helpless and to fear the Boko Haram warriors who terrorize us here. But we are not afraid. They are men like us. And we are tired of folding up our hands and allowing them to kill us, to kill our wives and to kill our children."

  109. Now this is getting interesting. We were made to understand that the nigerian armed forces, trained to kill or get killed were too weak and not armed enough or equipped enough to handle boko haram.Or that bh hv become so fearful you don't even want to dare them,we had to invite other countries to join in the fight against them. Same us now is being told that the same "demi gods" are being conquered by villagers and mere vigilantes, not trained or versed in the art/act of defence. If these stories are true, then shame on the Nigerian armed forces and the government who's paying them salary.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Hmmmmm... The rate of the killing and the number killed is really alarming... Pls I hope they're really killing BH... Because they seem to be kiiling the dreaded BH with ease without even a real weapon where as we were made to understand that the BH are usually heavily armed even more than the army, so how come villagers with ordinary stick and hunting guns are able to kill such a number of them with ease???? I stand to be corrected anyway but pls let's reason this issue critically!!!!!

  127. Will always take all these recent reports of Villagers actions against BH only with a pinch of salt as there has being no concrete evidence to back up their claims. No photos of BH members killed or even those arrested. Are they saying none of those civilians warriors carry camera phones around with them to at least give us a picture of any
of these recent activities and actions of theirs? And stop blaming the Army or the Government for inaction. If the
Government goes all out to attack and there are major casualties including civilians the Northern elders or elite will cry to high heavens with claims of genocide against the North. It is also this sort of claim that made GEJ to remove Ihejirika and still the Northerners went ahead with a report to drag Ihejirika to war crimes tribunal. BH is a political creation of the North that went awry. They should deal with it.

  152. I am worried for that Food vendor's life, she should have tried to do the tipping off anonymously, the guys shouldn't have made her identity known too. Good job guys, I will be drinking yoghurt to this achievement later tonight.

  157. I had wanted to share this with you Linda.. Every blog and most media outfit are in a rush to be the first to write about latest BOKO HARAM attacks or bombing.. Can you switch the game as a true leader in the game.. Let your blog only upload stories of BOKO HARAM been killed, captured, or even surrendering.. Just the positive side so that when your readers see any headline with BOKO HARAM.. They just know its a cheering news.. I think it will be cool.

  167. All this sounds very heroic. But how can we be sure that the guys being killed are members of the Boko Haram sect.

  168. I would have said interesting, but sahara reporters are bloody liars. Nobody should believe anything they post online. They are trying hard to truncate the extension of emergency rule in the North. I can see shettima and co in this public madness to attract the sympathy of people that the civilian JTF is better than Nigerian army. Hausa people can act filmtrick! All of a sudden the people are now killing Boko. Abeg Linda don't be posting this rubbish. They all lies!

  170. I'm sorry to say that l doubt the veracity of this story.....reason being that we only see pics of the members of the vigilante group. Two days ago, l read that the same vigilante group killed over a hundred Boko Haram members, but pics of the dead Boko Haram were not shown. We would like to see corpses of the Boko Haram that were killed not just stories. But l know for a fact that the good Lord will soon bring an end to the devlish activities of Boko Haram and their sponsors in power will be made to face the full wrath of the law
