Rasaq Adams claims police brutality, shares pic of his swollen eye

Rasaq Adams (pictured above) is claiming he was brutalized by the men of the Nigerian police force for no reason. According to his own version of events, on Monday March 31st, he and his friends were somewhere in their neighbourhood at Oredehin Street, off Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos, late at night gisting when police officers from Akinpelu police station saw them and without provocation, started throwing chairs and bottles at them and attempted to raid them. He claims he and friends ran to their various houses to escape the policemen but some pursued him to his house and broke his door as he attempted to lock it. (He sent in a pic of his broken door). He claims he was badly beaten by the police officers and later taken to the police station at Akinpelu Street in Oshodi where he stayed till the following morning when some of neighbours who heard what had happened stormed the station effect to his release.

Rasaq, who said he was outside his home with his friends (some of whom were also arrested) around 12am receiving breeze because there was no light and the house was hot, now wants to sue the Nigerian police for Police Brutality. Continue...

  35. razak you have great skin by the way. Ok i am not saying the police typically do their work but a lot of youngins are so rude and play rambo when they get stopped. Why not let the cops act a fool, have a friend secretly vidoe tape if possible and send to fashola. doing strong head with a possibly broke frustrated cop is not the best strategy

  38. I could remember vividly in abroad dat wen such sitaution occurs, d cops wil walk up to d pple and ask wot dey re doing out late in an isolated corner! And if dey were able to provide a good answer wit proof of being a residents in dat neighbourhood, dey'l just escort dem to their various compound! But d reverse is d case in our country, god help us and make us a little civlized! Amen! Meanwhile, I pray dis guy ave some core pple in d society to help him wit dis case, cos dogs don't eat dogs( I can't say more than dat o)

  42. It is very unfortunate that the Nigerian police human rights record is still nose-diving.I am ware of this case.Too bad for the bad eggs in the police. This police station is notorious for picking up people at night and accuse them of wandering even when there is no offence called wandering in our law books

  44. Stupid Nigeria police ! What kind of human beings are uuuuuuuuuuu

  45. The question we the public need to ask is. ' what does the law prescribe as d punishment for police brutality? Is there even a law?. Or is it one of those topics where the IG would set up a committee to 'look into it' and ' recommend bla bla. ..' to him, and d matter would end there.
Personally I think the police and the public need to know the penalty for brutality, d same way they said 14 years for gays.
What is the penalty for policemen slapping, flogging and ill treating innocent civilians at will, just because they wear a uniform and hv guns?

I don't think they were just receiving breeze like he claimed,i think they were with Mary Jane cos i can see it in his eyes. I never like the way the NPF carry out their duties, they behave so uncivilised,i hate them with so much passion. If he's sure he has not defaulted the law in anyway then he carry-on else he should just back out. Mary Jane aways and will always need kisses.
