Pic: Police arrest Nassarawa State Commissioner for fence scaling

In a bid to stop the State House of Assembly from summoning the helmsman at the Nassarawa State Independent Electoral Commission for questioning, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Mr. Innocent Lagi, scaled the fence of the Assembly complex after been denied access into the complex by security men stationed at the complex.

Mr Lagi had wanted to pass to the house leadership a court injunction restraining them from summoning the states electoral chairman for questioning on electoral matters in the state. Before he got to the House premises, the electoral chairman and his commissioners had already answered to the summon by the House.

After jumping the fence, the commissioner was detained for about 40 minutes at the Assembly’s security post before he was taken away in an armored personnel carrier .

  15. Very vibrant youngman. Lynda if you thought it through you would have guessed that an attorney general of a state cannot be arrested for trying to serve an injunction on lawmakers. The police came to rescue him because he was attacked by the house members

  25. This goes to show that most LIB readers are very irrational people who are incapable of analytical reasoning. Always want to comment nonsense. Who amongst you has followed this story and gotten facts before putting up foolish comments that depict your levels of backwardness. Linda, you too should get your facts right.

  29. This guy is a big Abuja boy o, practiced at one of the well known chambers before he became commissioner; he is one of those widely touted as new generation politicians, who knew he was just a thug... More intriguing to me is what (and who) he was trying to protect; someone must have stolen their mandate o (don't they all?) Just pondering which one of them sha, you can bet he was 'acting on orders'

  30. Okay upon further research I don misyarn small. It seems like Mr Lagi was actually protecting INEC by trying to issue an order restraining the house members from interfering with INEC. So it would appear that he is actually on the side of justice and scaling the fence was his way of upholding justice no matter what it took. The House members reportedly now have beef against him too and have demanded his sack... basically its all about the dirty game of politics in Nigeria. Apologies Mr Lagi, maybe not a thug but a victim?
