Attempted jailbreak in Abuja this morning: DSS releases statement

The Spokesperson for the Department of State Security Service, Marilyn Ogar, has issued a statement on the attempted jailbreak at the headquarters of the Nigeria’s secret police. Find it below..
At 0715 hours, the Service suspect handler went to the detention facility within the Headquarters to feed the suspects. One of the suspects attempted to disarm him by hitting him at the back of his head with his handcuff. His attempt to escape drew the attention of other guards at the facility who fired some shots to warn and deter others.
The gun shots attracted the attention of the military with whom we have an understanding of mutual assistance in the event of any threat. The Army immediately deployed a team to reinforce our perimeter guards to forestall any external collaborators.
The situation has since been brought under control. Further details will be communicated

    1. One of the major problems I have come to realize plaguing this country and the world all over is misleading information.... Now pictures were shown yesterday of soldiers taking cover.. But, not one picture of a killed so called 'aso rock attackers'.. I live in abuja, and am a security personnel.. When events that threatens the capital of a country arises, the first thing the security outfits like the soldiers and sss will do is to cordon off every routes and exits leading to the residence of the presidency, even though the incident is taking place elsewhere... The sss office is no where near aso villa, yet people have misled the public into believing the attack was targeted @ the aso villa.. Please, let us be careful with what we feed the public, information is power - the power to kill or strengthen our confidence depending on whether that information is true or misleading... And we must all understand and accept the painful and frustrating fact that, there are some sensitive information(sensitive to national security) that can never be public knowledge.. So, the real enemies of the state are those ones who have fallen out with the government and feel that the only way they can get back @ the govt is by misleading the public and instigating fear and hatred.. You have been warned

If you look at people like Pat Utomi, Tunde Bakare.. These are prominent men who are ever against the government and its policies, but you will never see them scoring cheap political points by misleading the public.. So, go figure

    4. Why are we such liars in this country? Why do we have to lie about everything. I was in the vicinity and these gunshots easily went on for over 3 hours!!!!!!! Are u telling us that it was warning shots that were fired for that period of time? This was an all out battle! I think I just identified this countries problem. The people in charge actually think very little of the populace. If not, they would never have the guts to issue this bold faced lie of a statement as an explanation for yesterday's events. Its actually quite irritating.

  6. (The East has MASSOB), the West Has OPC, Niger-delta has (MEND), so the north decided to train its own, and named them (Boko haram). when they were busy bombing churches, the muslim northerners secretly congratulated them, encouraging them to wipe the christians out, Now the monster that they created has turned against them, and they cannot control them again, the are now blaming Jonathan, they have only themselves to blame, when this whole thing finally dies down, the north will realise that it has lost millions of young men and women, properties and legacy. You cant arm an (ABOKI),and expect him to follow instructions, laffing in chinese language

  14. Hmmmmm, super story! So many conflicting story about this news......well I think there is more to this news than they r wanting us to believe. One thing is true though, Nigeria is at war with insurgents aka Boko haram, the earlier our leaders recognized that, and stop trying to make light of a situation that we already know about, the better it will be for the country. God bless Nigeria!

  15. OK so I am trying to understand the mechanisms of the security apparatus around Mr. President and by extension the seat of power.

Whose idea was it in the first place to place some of the most dangerous minds within the vicinity of the villa.

So you take people whose main agenda is to maim, kill and destroy with total & maximum efficacy and place them close to the heart of power.

The CSO, Presidential Guards Brigade, NSA, Minister of Defence, need to questioned.

Never in the history of Civilian rule with the exception of military takeovers have we witnessed such lack of judgement exposing the Head of State and Government to ridicule.

When you continue to put old men whose touch with modern technology and line of thought are separated by greed you have the kind of result witnessed today.

If our country will not give room to young and agile minds, the old and senile will lead us down the path of ruin.

I will not let that happen, so today I take a stand, Nigeria must be captured from those wrecking our collective destiny. Plan "Activate", commences today.

Governance for the youths, by the youths to benefit all.

God bless Nigeria, God bless us all.

These bunch of ill informed people with free data and sick minds just talk without any reason.

You all should contact the spokes person of BH for the real version of what happened, since the DSS spokes person's statement is no truth to you.

Some of you don't even know where the DSS office is located and you were miles away, probably in ajangbadi, but you know the gun shots rang out for over an hour.

Ridiculous lot.... those who are totally unelectable have continued to feed your feeble minds with shit.

Nigerian prisoners killed in Abuja jailbreak
    Last updated: 6 hours ago
At least 21 detainees shot dead during attempted escape from the cells of the secret police headquarters in Abuja.

At least 21 detainees have been killed during an attempted escape from Nigeria's secret police headquarters in Abuja, with unconfirmed reports that Boko Haram fighters were involved.

The security breach at the facility in the capital on Sunday raised fresh questions about the government’s ability to tackle the armed group.

However, there was no official confirmation of the involvement of the group, which has been waging an increasingly violent insurgency in Nigeria's northeast this year.

Marilyn Ogar, spokeswoman for the Department of State Services (DSS), which is Nigeria's domestic intelligence agency, said only that detainees had died during the attempt.

"It has been established that 18 casualties were recorded, while two service personnel sustained serious injuries," she said in an emailed statement earlier on Sunday.

"Three other detainees who sustained gunshot injuries during the incident have also died. Meanwhile, (an) investigation is still ongoing to ascertain the immediate and remote causes."

  53. This is just a sign of what is to come. The difference b/w Nigeria Army and Boko Haram boys is that the latter could care less if they die.

GEJ and his wife are busy stealing the country blind while neglecting the inherent danger staring them in the face.

I have been expecting this for a long time--where BH will be so emboldened to attack ASO ROCK.

When they finally get GEJ, sorry will be his name. I hope he takes extreme measure to protect himself now that the signs are becoming vivid as days pass by.
