Photos: Sanusi arrives Nigeria, passport seized but later released

Recently suspended CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has arrived from Niger Republic where he went to attend an ECOWAS event and is currently in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Sahara Reporter reports that his passport was seized on arrival at the airport but it was later released back to him after he argued that he wasn't a criminal. He then left the airport premises in company of Mallam Nasir El Eufai. See another pic of his convoy and SR updates of his arrival after the cut...

    2. If you were GEJ going by this man disloyalty, you would have driven him out of your govt. a long time ago. This is a man that couldnot do anything for his fellow nigerians who suffered flood problems in 2012 not only in the south but also in the north, he went ahead to give more 200million to his state kano, when boko haram touched them from CSR fund without no legislative backing, a man who delights in sleeping with peoples wives, just gave el-rufai 5bn naira contract recently and he is an opposition to GEJ, he deserves to leave that seat for disloyalty to his boss. If he wants to turn whistle blower then he should have resigned and let the world know what is happening.

  36. Two weeks ago he claimed that 20 billion US dollars had gone missing from the coffers of the NNPC. Today he has been suspended and relieved of his duties for exposing the rot and speaking the truth. I have little doubt that the next thing that will happen is that he will be subjected to a formal probe and the EFCC will be called in to investigate his tenure of office. They will throw everything that they have got at him including the kitchen sink simply because he refused to play ball with them and cover up their penchant for monuemental corruption and graft.

Some of us have been there before and we know what it is like. If you speak truth to power and you take on the system be rest assured that the system will fight back and they will attempt to destroy you and all that is yours. Yet none of that matters because the only thing that is relevant is the fact that history and posterity will be kind to Sanusi on this matter based on the choices that he has made.

He spoke out when others chose to remain silent and to compromise. Unlike others, he refused to sell his soul to the devil and to sell his heritage and birthright for a mess of pottage. Despite the significant differences that I have with this man in terms of our different outlooks to how and what Nigeria ought to be as a nation I salute him and commend him for his efforts.

I also make bold to say that with his noble stand he has assured himself of a great place in the next dispensation and he will play a key role in the future of this country one way or the other. May God guide and protect him in all his endeavours and may he continue to speak out with courage and strength and not allow himself to be intimidated or silenced.

Long is the road of righteousness and truth and it is often tarred with the spikes of persecution, misrepresentation and falsehood. Yet at the end of the day it is the only road that is worth taking and it is the only one that leads to lasting honour and glory.

May that honour and glory find Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and may God reward him for putting the interests and welfare of the Nigerian people before that of the woeful and rotten administration that he once served.

On what ground was his passport seized?? The fact that it was handed back to him after he resisted shows that seizing it in the first place was baseless. This is a proof that we are being ruled by idiots. Prosecution should be enforced by a legal process, not based on the president's whims! Sorry I forgot this is Nigeria

You do not act the role of a mole or fifth-columnist in a government under which you are serving...
I have no issues in Sanusi playing the role of EFCC if he resigns his position and become a full-time whistle-blower.
But by fighting a government dirty from within, I find it most unethical and unconscionable...
However investigations that have been conducted on Sanusi by both the National Assemble and the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria reveal only the sordid in respect of Sanusi...
The kettle in the man, however, finds it easy calling pot black...

  87. There 's a reason why someone 's elected President and tagged GCFR. That tag has a serious undertone that goes far beyond democracy, constitution or not, a president has a right to sack a minister or public official who was not elected but appointed for lack of interest in his duties and in this case insubordination. Governors sack commissioners everyday for no genuine reason, presidents equally remove corporation heads,no biggie.I don't appreciate the public humiliation tho, but all in all that na politricks. There re processes for doing things. Sanusi should have officially logged a complaint with the senate who in turn will setup committees to investigate accordingly n where dt fails, inform the attorney general who will take necessary steps to investigate and prosecute where necessary rather than resorting to public humiliation of ur president especially while ur still part of his administration, that office is not a joke. Any private citizen, a journalist perhaps could take such a public action, and would be applauded but not a public official, there is a due process, which we all so convieniently misuse.A private citizen may not have the kind of access Sanusi has, so due process will be excusable in such a situation. I'm not saying the President is all correct in this issue, but even George Bush that America hated so much for the right reasons still got the respect for the sake of the office he occupied until he left power. El rufai, Atiku, Buhari, FFK, Obasanjo n all these people raising unnecessary dust now all had their chance @ the top, wielding various impactful authorities what did they do to improve the lot of Nigerians?now they re no longer there, they sit at their high rise glass houses, throwing heavy stones as if they would not implicate emselves eventually. Obasanjo himself sacked and humiliated with impunity, publicly witch hunting his enemies with efcc, abi all of una don forget? Going as far as disregarding the immunity of a sitting governor just to stop him from contesting election.Isn't it clear what the agenda is, Nigerians know the truth but choose to ignore. No doubt Jonathan's not all perfect and some of his actions may be unconstitutional as some of u say, but it is still arguable. Whistle blowers get punished anywhere in the world especially when they are staffs of their respective governments. Bradley Manning is currently facing over 30yrs in prison as well as Edward Snowden who may face a similar fate, we all know abt Julian Assange n his current struggles, even tho that one no be member of U.S govt, he still has a case to answer. I haven't heard any of u talking abt the unconstitutionality of that situation.Democracy is not all black and white, like we so wrongly think. When Stella Oduah's issue came up and Jonathan followed due process by setting up committees to investigate, everybody was on his neck, now he has started sacking e still no do una, na wa oo. No doubt he's made a lot of mistakes and sometimes acts paranoid in his brainless actions, but if not 4 anything else respect his office.Come 2015,pls vote ur conscience and not money!!!
