Stella Oduah hands over, list achievements as Aviation Minister

Princess Stella Oduah has formally handed over to the Minister of State for Trade and Commerce, Dr Samuel Ortom following her sack by the President last Wednesday, February 12th. (Pictured above)

In her speech, she thanked President Jonathan for finding her worthy out of the 160million Nigerians and also listed her achievements while she was Minister. Excerpts from her speech below...
"It was a great privilege to be chosen from amongst the 160million Nigerians to serve in the Federal cabinet. My profound gratitude goes to Mr President who gave me this rare privilege. I also want to thank for him all the support he accorded me to pursue his transformation agenda in the Aviation sector. I equally wish to thank my aides, aviation sector workers and stake holders who partnered with me to realize our vision & mission in the sector. During my tenure, we gave our best to institute reforms in line with Mr President's Transformation Agenda. We produced the Aviation sector Master-plan and implementation Road map. Using the Masterplan and Roadmap, we were ably to...

-Reconstruct and Remodel all 22 federally-owned airports across the country. We also commenced the construction of Five International terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Kano.

-We also introduced the Perishable Cargo and Aerotrolis concepts to drive the growth and development of not only the aviation sector but also the country while modalities have been completed to kick-start the Aeropolis project.

-We also carried out institutional reforms, built the capacity of NCAT to produce enough professionals for both the local aviation market and for export.

-My greatest accomplishment comes from the safety and security of the Nigerian Airspace. We were able to procure, update and install safety-critical infrastructure that has repositioned the sector to achieve our objective of zero-accident rate in the Nigerian Airspace" she said.

    3. Some people ll stay in their houses and curse her out... Its a shame we had some accidents during her tenure but so did we during Fani Kayode's same nuisance that came online to say rubbish during the crashes... changchingi (or so) sosoliso were during his time.

As for the reconstructed airports. .. I can testify to that of PH, Enugu and Abj don't know if they were completed but they were close to completion as at early last year. But Lagos Intl airport.... nahhh no changes...

And finally am strongly against her corrupt practice but did she do more dan most of her male counterparts yes she did.

For God sake wen will people in nija know that it's her job not her charity foundation. You're employed to do a job and get paid for if. You guys shud go to other countries and see what an international airport shud look like. That airport is a disgrace considering nija's are well travelled and doesn't think anythin is wrong with the condition. The first time I went to nija, I almost fainted as I came out as result of the heat wave. Nija's shud wake up and smell the coffee and stop being gullible.

  81. I don't believe most of the people commenting on this page have used our airports between 2009 and now. You will have to be seriously blind not to commend Stella for her efforts. I don't know why she is not posting before and after pictures everywhere. Sadly, it's the people that actually work that get driven out of government and that why the poor uneducated masses will continue to suffer in Nigeria. The last aviation minister that did any major improvement work on airport infrastructure was Kema Chikwe.

It's sad that her hardwork has been marred by this sad incident of corruption. I do sincerely hope that she wasn't set up to take a fall because many people taking huge kick -backs for doing absolutely nothing could no longer skim money off the aviation industry.
May God help the average Nigerian masses and the Nigerian "news for the highest bidder" media sha. A people deserve the rulers they get so we should not complain. I live in Malaysia and it constantly amazes me how deeply patrotic the average citizen is towards buidling their nation. They take deep personal pride in it. An average Nigerian will instead always ask first... what's in it for me? It's is sad that we are hurtling toward the doomsday predictions of a 2015 break-up and yet across blogs/newspapers, one still see a lot of foolish comments. Are we really that ignorant and foolish. God help Nigeria and Nigerians o!
