Confusion in Osun state as students wear religious clothes to school

The Baptist High School, Iwo, Osun State was in a state of chaos and confusion yesterday Tuesday Feb 4th as some students of the school came into the school premises wearing their religious apparels such as Hijab, choir robes, white garments, fetish veils and Orunmila attires, ditching the approved uniform by the state government. And later during their assembly time, the students all sang songs that were associated with their religious beliefs.

According to reports, the students were registering their displeasure at the state government for the introduction of Unified School Uniforms for all schools irrespective of religious beliefs. The Christians who are owners of the school were protesting the new policy on education set by the state government that allows Muslim students to wear Hijab to Christian's mission public schools.

The new policy of school reclassification by the state government, which was introduced last year has been causing a lot of problems in the state, because it introduced the merger of most of schools, and because some of the schools are faith-based, there's chaos. The Christian schools do not want Muslim students wearing Hijab to school but the state govt has made it legal, thus the continued protest...

  4. This is a delicate issue considering the multi religious nature of our society especially a state like Osun
The new policy of the government aimed at Govt management of schools both the ones owned by religious groups compounded the situation.
And the picture we are seeing is the long discord that exists between the two main religions.
The best way out is to return mission schools to their owners.

The baptist are just inciting the pupils for no reason...the only relationship baptist convention still have with the so call school is only in the retention of the name nothing more,no input from them financially, staff scheduling or administration, the school is solely funded by the govt of the state, why then cant all the children of the state irrespective of their religion ,benefit from the facilities put in place by the state from the state fund. Its all about religious tolerance, baptist convention opinion cant work with the dress code of the pupils. If at all, they should wait for the outcome of the judicial process to reclaim the structure back from federal govt , then they can chase away all the hijab wearing students.Without this, they cant stop any bona fide student from attending that school in a regalia allowed by the state education board.TOLERANCE IS THE KEY WORD

None of the above have u been able to solve or provide, instead u bring more suffering and hatred amongst your subjects, the same people who voted you in.
Compared to your fellow governors what have u been Abel to achieve since u have been elected into office.. aregbesola u are a disgrace to your people and the federal republic of Nigeria. 91. Comments from every one has been interesting.but the question is why do the muslims wear this hijab? We dont need to be sentimental here because its a way of life muslim women are always meant to be seen in their hijabs as it is a commandment from God.but where is it in the bible for christian s to make regalia a part of their dress code.or even the idol worshippers.what is being fought for can be allowed but how many can last a week in their regalia or their babalawo cloth.this policy doesnt affect muslim boys, christians, or our idol worshippers infact it does not affect muslim girls that choose not to follow Allahs orders.its simple just it takes nothing away from anybody.not from the teachers and not from the students.its just a policy thats bringing in tolerance from scratch.the world needs to tolerate we muslims more.muhammed leaved with christians in peace and they had agreements which both sides kept.to us its important we dont infringe on your rights and we make sure you are judged by your book.well there are english qurans around I think everyone of you should read it.cos we read the bible as kids even when we didnt like it so we know whats in it.ignorance might not help us leave together in peace as our religion encompasses every part of life from business, to social life, to child upbringing, to marriage.everything is organised.thats why its a complete religion.

Imagine them frustrating the 2014 Budget that has been well packaged to create jobs through the completion of the privatization of the power sector, the completion of the east west road, the dualisation of Abuja-lokoja express road, dualisation of Kano-maiduguiri express road and the complete rehabilitation of Ibadan-Lagos express road,Enugu- port harcourt Road,Onitsha-Enugu and several other package for farmers to boost food production and create jobs. This is very clear that APC is no alternative for PDP. All APC has been doingis looking for cheap popularity from the media by making ironic jingles and blackmailing the govermnet, creating unneccesary divide along religious line.Nigerian youths open your eyes.
