Policeman sentenced to death by hanging for killing 20yr old man

Justice has finally come the way of the family of slain Emmanuel Victor (pictured above), a 20 year old young man who was killed in front of his mother by a trigger-happy Policeman, Mathew Egheghe, two years ago in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state.

Victor was shot dead after he confronted a group of policemen who were trying to extort money from motorists as he was coming back from church. Angered by his effrontery to question their action, Policeman Egheghe moved close to Victor and shot him at close range.
Narrating what happened, Victor's mother Grace, who witnessed the incident said:
"They shot my son brutally. As he fell while they were shooting him, the tallest of them still continued shooting him on the ground". She said she was harassed and stopped from going close to her dying son even as he lay gasping for life in the pool of his own blood.
Delivering his judgement on the case, Justice Lucky Boufili said that such a cruel act was only punishable by the maximum penalty which is death. He sentenced Mathew Egheghe to death by Hanging. The police has since dismissed Mathew Egheghe and his two accomplices from the force.

    4. God forgive me o, but they need to show his face when it is being carried out before they go and take another innocent soul, cover his face and pass him up as the police officer while he's being executed. You can't put it past Naija police, they're very crooked and might try to help their colleague out by setting another innocent citizen up..... Just saying

  28. Who's a wicked man?

Is that person that knows that Jesus died for him, and still never give his heart to Christ.

Following Christ means to be ready to follow his ways and what he laid down before he departed.

Because he talked whilst you guys were trying to collect bribe, then the next action was to fire-him-up?
That wasn't the right thing Oga Ade

The policeman deserves not death-sentenced but life imprisonment..

  72. This is what we see, when the NPF just hand people that are not qualified to be a police gun. It was a sad story, especially for Emmanuel's mum who witnessed the way the trigger happy police shot her son. I the story then followed it then. It serves the police man right because it was so cruel of him. At least if he was angry as a true officer for a small boy talking to him in the manner that he does not like, why not just slap the boy rather than shooting.

Other can have rubber bullet guns, pepper spray and tasers, dogs and very big clubs. Instead just giving every tom dick and harry a gun. RIp to victor

The policeman's hanging needs to be publicized to serve as a lesson to his fellow colleagues.
I'm a woman and sometimes, when I refuse to stop at an illegal checkpoint, they point a gun!
It's not that serious. In other countries, they dont draw weapons unless they're prepared to kill.
Stupid men with big egos and small brains.
Only in this country will you see a policeman smoking weed, and drinking paraga, and yet still be allowed to carry a weapon around.
May God be with the family of this boy.
