Aluu4: We demand justice for these boys...

I know some of you want me to stop this, but I just can't. We have to keep remembering these boys until they get justice..even after then. Nobody deserves to die the way they did. We demand justice for Tekena, Ugonna, Chiadika and Lloyd. May their souls continue to rest in peace...amen.

Their killers should be brought 2 justice,to serve as a deterrent 2 those whose seek to mete out vigilante justice in d future. And To those who endorse jungle justice,I say imagine yourself in the shoes of those helpless boys as they had their lifes snuffed out of them.

Yes oh, everyone just let the case die, and the fact is several people still face this kind of death today, burning of thieves by public and other forms of public executed justice should be abolished, because most times the truth is not known and people act spontaneously without proof, the police need to know their responsibility.

  86. One annoying thing in Nigeria is that we never follow up with important issues. There is always a period of people talking about somehing then before you know it, it dies down. It is ridiculous! Till date, no justice for them. Our law system in Nigeria is crazy.

Okay so where are we on the issue on child not bride? We are no where. Where are we on the Billion missing from CBN? We are no where? Where are we with Stella Oduah and the cars? We are no where.

So sorry Linda, I don't think we will get anywhere with this issue. We never take things seriously in Nigeria. A man in the parliament here in Uk was jailed for 6months for 'wasting' the govt's money by staying in a hotel when his house was on the same street.

I mean, for just that 'minor' issue but here in Nigeria, steal billion, everyone talks about it, everyone shuts up.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Dear Linda please don't be moved by what people say. Nigerians have this amnesia syndrome. Once there's another newsworthy item they forget the old. Then everything is swept under the rug and the evil doers and the Stella Oduahs go free. You may be the only voice the families of the Aluu 4 have now! The people asking you to stop would they told you that if it had happened to a member of their family? Why are Nigerians so self-centred? The killers of the soldier Rigby who was killed last year have already been found guilty and we are here still dragging our feet on a tragic event that happened since 2011 and some idiots are calling on you to stop reminding us. SHAME ON THOSE PEOPLE!!!

  105. I am happy to see you are still talking about this. I watched a video clip yesterday about the mob lynching of a 12 year old boy (www.dontwalkaway.org.ng) and i am still thinking about it this morning. I believe one of the ways to reduce the occurrence of these incidents is to keep raising awareness of this inhumane behaviour. Its easy to care when you first hear about them but its also easy to stop caring moments later . We should not stop talking about this and we should demand justice for for the victims of these atrocities.

  128. The truth is, everytime Linda posts this story I kind of get pissed cos it's like going on and on about it, but beyond this initial reaction if feel the need to keep posting it. We as ordinary citizens should do our bit to make our justice system better, may be we should begin a campaign that will force our govt to pay attention to our justice system. The problem here is we have a highly inefficient, ineffective n biased judicial system. The police seem to only pursue cases that someone has paid for or some powerful person is involved, in other cases the police is grossly inadequately tooled to give out justice, u can name a million flaws from uniforms to vehicles, offices, weapons, training n intelligence. Our police is so backward nobody on dis blog would ever want to be a police. Abroad there is csi( crime scene investigation) they take every bit of info an reach a conclusion, in d aluu4 case there is a video showing people killing the boys yet our judicial system cannot investigate to a conclusion, do we even do forensic investigation? Until we bring pride n a sense of purpose n service into d judicial system we will keep having these kinds of cases, Linda is a blogger, this is her biz, media is a powerful tool n she's doing her bit to ensure this case isn't swept under the carpet, don't forget our legislators n other powerful politicians read LIB. We need to give a serious n critical attention to our police, the same kind of attention govt gave to communication(gsm), make d police force attractive n prestigous, how do u expect a bunch of unhappy n corrupt police to deliver justice? It's like maltreating your alsatian dog and expect it to be your best friend, you need to feed it, train it, give it proper vet treatment n then the dog will behave like a proper security dog. I'm so angry @ our leaders I could go on and on about what's wrong, worst of all is that d solution isn't even rocket science, I hope they can't just for once focus on doing what's right for all and stop selfish politics.what Nigeria needs is one selfless leader who dares to do what's right regardless of the consequence - Mr. Angry Citz

    ReplyDelete
  134. Linda Ikeji, I really appreciate your comment about the "Aluu4: We demand justice for these boys..." May I ask, what has been done to demand justice for these young boys' horrible death? I think, something really has to be done before the culprits are apprehended. These 4 young men could be anybody's brothers, sons, nephews or friends. People cannot just sit down and fold their hands and do nothing, thats not on. Finally, if these "Aluu4" boys did not get justice, tomorrow, who knows, it could be anybody but God forbid.

    ReplyDelete
  135. God, we seek justice here on earth and in heaven. Linda, thanks for bringing this up again.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I would want to suggest that a bill should be passed by the senate criminalizing jungle or vigilante justice. I bet you, something similar to these boys' case may happen tomorrow, and like normal, we will all cry and swear and life continues. Some peoole may argue against such bill being passed (perhaps because of grossly dysfunctional law enforcement as in police and the court system). But I think it will be beneficial in the long-term in reducing such cases. May the souls of Tekena, Chibuzor, Chiadika and Loyd find find rest in the Lord. Same prayer goes for all who have died in such bizarre circumstances. AMAKS

"they got what's comin. As u make ur bed so u lie on it..." She refused explainin further.
Approximately 1 year later I gathered snippets of info that I pieced together and here's a rough sketch of what happened:
Dose boys love dem or hate em, were affiliated with a confraternity in UNIPORT and on the day in question went for what is known as 'mutiny' in frats' parlance wc essentially means deposing a sitting leader or 'number 1 man'
A guy amongst dem fired ist (and escaped eventually) and the guy they went to accost raised alarm, shouting thief, thief, ole, oleh, cultists, cultists which apparently spooked the inhabitants of the community and the resultant jungle justice followed.
While I condemn in totality the action of the community, I wish to state categorically here that "shit happens" so deal with it. The so called Aluu Four's hands aint entirely clean. For the doubters and dose that will cuss my life out for sayin dis here, y'all go ahead and ask any runsman who schooled in UNIPORT during that period (especially the maphites)
D same tin (jungle justice) happens in Obafemi Awolowo Uni, more commonly known as 'shi-shi'. A defaulter is beaten, stripped to his underpants or entirely naked (based on the gravity of his 'alleged' crime) and may or may not be paraded round campus and the various halls of residence. (Linda ask around). They did it to Fasco 2009 and in 2011 Bombata used hot pressing iron to scald someone who already confessed to stealing some chicken change.
Na who dem catch be thief.
Amaechi is quiet cos he knows whatsup. 7 out of 10 youths in port harcourt are runsmen of which 80 percent are baggers. Remember Evans Bipi who was shouting 'arrow mates, arrow mates' that was aired on channels tv?
This is Nigeria folks, jungle justice happens everyday. Its not right but it serves no purpose to cry wolf here wen y'all really don't know the terror that runsmen (cultists) spread or the even greater terror that their counterparts spread in the name of curbing it as happened in this case.
Before I go, y'all shd know that the july 2001 Africa massacre in Ife was a retaliatory attack by axemen for an alleged disrespekt of a member of theirs. It may have been a retaliation taken too far considerin the number of people killed but the students union executives threw the ist punch and axemen have an uncanny reputation for showing no forgiveness nor mercy.

Let the Lord judge the criminals

  140. Linda allow the men to rest in peace. I wonder what kind of justice u want for them. Killing or persecuting some other people doesn't make you different from their killers.
