Dont come across like you're interviewing or interrogating him like the FBI, but just serious conversation between two love birds who are ready to exhaust the possibilities together. If after 7 months, you dont get the feeling things are working towards long term commitment or marriage, start hinting/reminding him of your conversation together. After 1.5 years after you've been dating, have a straight-up conversation with him about marriage. If he says he's not sure and will like to see how things goes or he doesnt have the money for engagement ring, get him one, if after that he is still not ready 2 yrs, please, please, please, tell him the relationship is no longer exclusive and you both need to start dating other people.
