Beyonce explains why she sampled Chimamanda Adichie's work

Beyonce has explained why she sampled the work of award winning author Chimamanda Adichie in a track in her new album. Beyonce put a portion of Chimamanda's speech about feminism and roles women play in the society in the song, Flawless.
“I was scrolling through videos about feminism on Youtube and I ran across this video of this incredible Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie. Everything she said is exactly how I feel,” Beyoncé explains
"My message in this album was finding the beauty in imperfection. I had this image of this trophy and me accepting these awards and kind of training myself to be a champion and at the end of the day when you go through all of these things, is it worth it? I mean, you get this trophy and you’re like, ‘I basically starved, I have neglected all the people that I love, I’ve conformed to what everybody else thinks I should be and I have this trophy. What does that mean?"
"The trophy represents all of the sacrifices I made as a kid, all the time I lost being on the road in the studios as a child and I just want to throw that s**t up!”

  6. Brilliant marketing strategy by Ms. Adichie to accept Beyonce's invitation. Exposure to Beyonce's multi generational and multiracial audience opens new doors.

Well spoken Bey, indeed its all vanity, I go thru that too, u neglect family and friends just cos of what ur eyes are fixed on, and at the end if u get it, you're tired of it already, and then u start to regret all the family re unions u have missed, u get home and there lots of videos and pictures and u are not part of.

  35. i only appreciate flawless because of Adichie's feature but honestly the song is not reflective of the authour's message. Beyonce has an excellent PR time, it's cool for her to be political now. And you know what good for her, and hopefully some of her die hard 'stans' will get a bit of knowledge. Basic lyrics for basic chicks minus Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie of course.

  56. She's relentless in trying to ingratiate herself with the cultural producers of Africa especially Nigeria. First with Fela, now with Adichie hoping their intelligence and cultivation of new ideas will rub of on her. She remains grossly ignorant and unintelligible though just like most Americans and to my dismay like Nigerian-American.
