Update on Associated Airlines Crash: Photos + The Manifest

A 30-seat plane belonging to Associated Airlines carrying the remains of Ondo state former governor Olusegun Agagu and 20 other passengers crashed this morning shortly after take off from the domestic wing of MMIA. An aviation official confirmed the plane suffered engine failure after takeoff. It's also been confirmed that at least five passengers of the ill-fated flight survived, (including Agagu's son and son in-law) and have been taken to hospitals, while 14 bodies have been recovered from the crash site. The black box of the plane has also been recovered.

The casket bearing Agagu's corpse (pictured above) was recovered almost intact at the scene of the crash. Rescuers said almost all parts of the aircraft was burnt except the back where the casket was kept. The full manifest of the occupants of the plane has been released by aviation authorities. 8. I am so sure lots of folks will be stating some spiritual or fetish thing related to all this, An American would see a dying bird in his compound and call 911 to get a vet, Nigerians will call their pastor who will always say: "someone in your village sent it!"
Many bloggers speculated that OBJ's son and Agagu's wife were on the plane too, utter fallacy! May those that lost their lives rest in peace.

  11. If there's anything to be taken away from this, It appears we learnt a lesson or two from the Dana experience. This is judging from the number of people at the site and the evidence of the presence of the fire brigade and emergency officials.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

What would have been the successful burial of a man became a mass burial *sigh* may God have mercy on his children. RIP :(

Nigerians are tired of flags being lowered; Nigerians are tired of national days of mourning; Nigerians are tired of a broken system. The Aviation Ministry is infested with indolent, corrupt, and redundant personnel. Please do not come with that cock and bull excuses that aircrash happens everywhere in the world. You have a wonderful weather in Nigeria to fly; why all these mechanical faults? Again, my condelence to the bereaved families. For those spewing nonsense over a tragedy, I guess, you're miserable and despondent.

"Fortunately, I am in this line and my kids see what I do. You plan yourself as you get older and we have people who plan their funerals before they die. They even choose the clothes they want to be buried in. My children know what I like to wear but it is always good to plan beforehand because in most instances, your kids will not give you what you want. My children should bury me the way I live."

  142. If Agagu was an Igbo man, the comment we are reading here now would have been so so different. Can you imagine when a man died, he take many more with himself to the grave,,,,,yoruba and their winshi winshi and occultic lifestyle sha. if i may ask,,,,,why didn't his son and son in-law die or does it mean they are stronger and healthier than the others? ONLY GOD WILL HELP WE MORTALS.

  148. He is so on point with his comment first and foremost if the roads where good you have no business flying from Lagos to Akure. When Our politicians stopped playing politics with the sectors that affect human life like hospitals, aviation, school, then we can start talking of insensitivity. ASUU is on strike teaching hospital staff are on strike and you think because you send your children to the best school abroad chatter planes to take you kia kia to where you are going so that you don't fly commercial like us . There families and their children will suffer for all they have done to tis country .I pray today that any one that has in any way contributed to the down fall of this country make God visit them in any way he deems fit. You are burying an ex governor with Tax payers money when that money could be used for something better like paying teachers and building good roads. Please let us stop kidding our self we do not feel a thing for what happen the pilot and the crew members RIP they rest on your own

Too sad! But in all, it is well indeed. May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace (to them that deserve peace) amen. Unfortunately, no repentance in the grave. Amend your ways now, do good, eschew evil, work for the public with public funds and stop stealing/diverting it, give to anyone whatever is due him. Pray always as tomorrow may be too late.

I do agree with you... Uncle Tunji, as we all called Mr Tunji Okusanya (M.I.C Casket), is one man I can say that I benefitted out of his generousity.

He is the nicest man I know, and always willing to help both young, old, man, woman and even people he isn't related to.

Death, has taken away one of the cheerful giver away :(

May his soul and that of his son rest in perfect and ever lasting peace, not leaving those who died in the crash as well.

May the almighty forgive them all, and grant them all eternity life. Amen.

    RIP uncle Tunji and Jnr
