Islamic group wins: Miss World pageant moved out of Jakarta to Bali

Days after an Islamic group staged a protest against the organizers of the 2013 Miss World pageant, demanding that the pageant should not be held in Jakarta as it runs against their culture, the pageant organizers have been forced to move the final of the pageant to Bali - where they said today that it would be 'impossible' to stage the finale there, because of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, where world leaders and thousands of officials are expected to attend. The summit begins at the beginning of October while the pageant is scheduled to take place on September 28.
“I think people can appreciate how complex it would be to move everything to Bali. Just getting the venue and all the accommodation is impossible with APEC here" Nana Putra, executive director of organizer, told AFP.
The Miss World organizers have said they have no plans to cancel this year's event, vowing to petition Indonesian authorities to move the event back to Java. But also said they would use a back up venue in Indonesia if authorities don't change their mind.

    I dont think the organisers ought to worry themselves, world leaders love beautiful women, they might give up one of their venues. Lol
    I strongly believe that customs and religions should be respected, why Jakarta in the first instance? Bali should have been the first choice all along, after all it's a tourist fun destination.

    Good move.
    Better than risking the lives of the contestants and other participants.
    With this,the organisers would take into cognizance the cultural and religious background/disposition of their next host country.

      No I'm a Nigerian. I called Nigerians hypocrites because that is exactly what they are. They say they are Christians but are calling Muslims "hypocrites" for not condemning the parade of semi-nude ladies in the name of beauty pageants.       Like I said, take this as gay rights. Do Nigerians approve of gay rights like other liberal western countries? We know the answer to that one, so why should Indonesians be called names for not wanting such a show in their country?       My dear stop generalizing thing like that imagine me say all d Catholics r child molestors and homosexuals because I hear some priests do it. You need to understand we are human beings first and our right to choose is paramount. FYI information Islam never stated at what age you should give your child out, parents and guardians are in charge they are suppose to give their children out when they fill they are physically and mentally mature enough, with the knowledge and consent of the child. Christians there is a saying that goes, when you point a finger at some1 your other fingers are pointing back at you. Are you aware that Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ ( pbuh) at the age of 13.
