Gunmen attack & kill over 10 in uncompleted building in Apo, Abuja

Unknown gunmen dressed in military fatigue stormed an uncompleted building behind Legislator’s Quarters in Apo, Abuja in the early hours of this morning Friday September 20th killing over 10 people.

The people killed were squatting at the uncompleted building, mostly abokis who polish shoes and sell water.

According to eyewitnesses, the owner of the uncompleted building had warned people who pass the night in the building to desist from it, but they refused. Then the massacre this morning happened.

A survivor said they pay someone N200 every night to sleep in the uncompleted building and had been harassed and warned severally by military men to stop coming there...but they couldn't because they had nowhere else to go.

A resident in the area said that at about 12:30am he heard gunshot severally throughout the night, causing panic in the area. The number of people who died may be more than 10.

    This happened in front of my house just about 5min after I came home. They weren't gunmen that is just a cover up. They were military men that got some intel but when they came to raid the uncompleted building (which is home to a lot of keke drivers and their relative) alot of the occupants fled and they opened fire on everyone. The guns used were automated weapons that fired more than 20 rounds at one and the noise was deafening. They came in an armored truck and said words that only trained military men would know like "echo one". I dont know what ordinary gunmen has access to armored vehicles and i knew the story will be spun differently from what really happened. Alot of innocent people lost their lives even the guys that wash our cars every morning were shot... the streets covered in blood. It is shocking....

    Ohhh God! I stay in Apo,not too close to the Legislative quarters though,but i heard the news this morning and was hoping it'd be untrue...This is very sad,this Abokis and mayruwas are actually harmless,they just sleep anywhere they find shade...why kill them? Reporting them to the right authorities would've been the right thing...This is just downright inhuman RIP to the Lost souls! Mmmmmm Naija...A poor man's Life has absolutely no value @all in this country :(

    Normally I don't comment but this is a crazy development What we want to see is those legislators come and show concern for their citizens. 1 life lost is too much FISH out the perpetrators of this heinous act and prosecute them fully otherwise am sorry to say Nigeria has now turned to a failed state and all those in NASS should bow their heads in shame
