It doesn't matter, people from Canada are called Canadians which is why they have a different passport, different immigration system etc. The head of state is The Queen, not Obama. If you have an American student visa, you cannot go to school in Canada. Would you call Mexicans Americans? It's like Scotland and Northern Ireland being part of the UK, you would NEVER call a Scottish or Irish person British. It's really annoying when people make mistakes and still argue as if they are making sense, just accept it and move on. At least pretend as if you went to school. If you ask a Canadian who they are they would say Canadian, they would NEVER say American.
