He is a Sergeant with Force Number 192954 (Name withheld) attached to the Lagos State Command Motor Traffic Division (State MTD). He has been arrested and currently in detention awaiting the commencement of his orderly room trial (Nigeria Police version of court). The Inspector General of Police IGP MD Abubakar has directed the Commissioner of Police Lagos State to ensure that the orderly room trial is concluded in record time. The IGP therefore reiterates his assurance to the public of his zero tolerance to any form of corrupt practices involving any Police officer. Good use of media gadget and social media. I wonder what the offence of the motorist was. It would have been nice to have a balanced story. The motorist agreed to part with some money..... that presumes that he may have been found culpable of an offence. In any case, it does not justify the action of the police officer(s) in extorting money from motorist under the disguise of any offence.

ReplyDeleteThe Policeman involved in the unprofessional and shameful act as seen in a video clip currently in circulation on the social media has been identified. He is a Sergeant with Force Number 192954 (Name withheld) attached to the Lagos State Command Motor Traffic Division (State MTD). He has been arrested and currently in detention awaiting the commencement of his orderly room trial (Nigeria Police version of court). The Inspector General of Police IGP MD Abubakar has directed the Commissioner of Police Lagos State to ensure that the orderly room trial is concluded in record time. The IGP therefore reiterates his assurance to the public of his zero tolerance to any form of corrupt practices involving any Police officer. He equally advises citizens to take advantage of the use of the Nigeria Police Force’ complaint email address; policemonitor@npf.gov.ng which guarantees their confidentiality in forwarding all manners of complaints of unethical conduct involving any police officer or security agent for necessary action.

ReplyDeleteGod has caught this shameless police at last. I have been a victim along Obafemi Awolowo round about Ikeja. He is very ruthless when you encounter him. Of recent he stations at the begining of the overhead bridge on Oba Akran to stop vehicles especially when there is traffic build up. I hope the authorities will act.

Cause with this alone, they can argue that he was only trying to get you give him a bribe then he'll booked you for multiple offenses. But nice one. Big step towards sanitizing the police force. S

ReplyDeleteI had the same experience a few months back at omole jucntion(big treat) by a dark skinny female officer named Mercy, I ended up parting with 2k from a bill of 20k. They look for anything to just extort money from u and this are offences they could just cite a warning for, instead they jump in ur car and make fake phone calls and extort u. how is police our friend o??
ReplyDeleteGood use of media gadget and social media. I wonder what the offence of the motorist was. It would have been nice to have a balanced story. The motorist agreed to part with some money..... that presumes that he may have been found culpable of an offence. In any case, it does not justify the action of the police officer(s) in extorting money from motorist under the disguise of any offence.

ReplyDeletethis thing happens everyday at that computer village area the police there have collected 6,500k from me even taped the police too self, wanted to send the video to linda but my parents just told me to forgive him that the guy will defo enter trouble somewhere, please they should do something about them police officers there always harassing people. esp because of tinted glass that is factory fitted.... if not for my parents that police man would have been made the next oga at the top
