Question of the day

You are driving on a lonely bridge late at night (in Naija o)...let's say around 11pm, and you see two little children - say 5 and 2, on the side of the bridge just sitting there crying...would you stop your car to pick them up or just continue driving? Why would you pick them up? And why wouldn't you?

  1. Any Nigerian that says they will pick them up is lying or a ritualist

  15. This is tough. But at 11pm in this present day Naija i don't think so. This days armed rubbers and other evil people can metamorphose into little children and then change into adults when they enter your car. Then you now have a case of self created 'one chance'. I will keep driving and praying for them. But maybe during the day not at 11pm. Even if i stop to pick them up at 11pm where will i take them to? because if you take them to the nearest police station, knowing our weird police force they can implicate someone for kidnapping. so i no fit carry them.

  16. Linda, are you kidding me? That's not even a question o.

In as much as I'm a christian and I love children, if I see children seated by the side of the bridge at that time! I sure won't look twice at them, I would double my speed and possibly pray for them on my way but won't take chances.

DOn't blame me...Anything is possible in Nigeria and I so love my life!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'd be very worried, not enough to stop though. I'd drive further and search for d police, pay them(of cos *eyesrolling*) to go get d kids while I watch from a safe distance with my car locked and engine ready to go...just incase! Lol #JayBeyBlu

    ReplyDelete
  18. I won't cos i don't know how they got there in d 1st place @ such odd hour

    ReplyDelete
  28. It depends. Naija instincts tell me not too. How random to see 2 young children on the side of the road at that time of the night. They may be bait for an innocent samaritan.
I would definitely slow down and try though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Straightforward answer!!! No I won't stop lailai.......stop ke?! On the bridge? In Nigeria? Even if I want to be a Good Samaritan, fear won't allow me! Na so person will try to help now, put them in the car and then person will disappear. And if you get them to the police station, the police might say you kidnapped them so once again, my answer is NO!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. No! Too risky. So over to you Linda....... Will you stop?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sadly enough I would`t pick them up on 3rd mainland bridge. It is deeply regretable to say this but as far as Nigeria is concerned they could be used as a bait. That is how bad the situation in Nigeria...

    ReplyDelete
  32. dis one pass cambridge question o...wetin dem fine come d bridge?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Abi mo ti stop ni!I'd zoom off lyk sum1's chasin me!Those kids could b Niger vampires or some trap nah Linda..Me,alone drivin on dat bridge n young kids on d bridge arnd dat tym???hia!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hmmmm Linda this one n@ strong thing.you n your question self. If na you, you go stop .me no go stop cos I no fit snout

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would pick them because they are children and it would not be fair for them to suffer in a world they cannot manipulate at their ages; i would not pick them because i love everybody and trust nobody, my security is priority to me

    ReplyDelete
  38. wow don't ever pray to find myself in such situation. however, i'll definitely tow the part of caution cos the world is no longer a safe place. They could have been planted there by adults or might have even positioned themselves strategically there to say you have kidnapped them when they see the perfect opportunity. So to clear my conscience, i'll probably go to the nearest police station to report it or if there's a vigillante around, possibly inform them.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I will not stop because i will assume they are not real kids and tell me wetin better kids go dey do at the bridge by that time of the day? Life is so sweet....

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pick fire! D society is evil ,I no know who use dem set trap

  45. Aahh linda its confirmed u a workaholic 2.14am! Niwayz i'm slp deprived too. I think my 1st thots will be to stop n pick dem, cos de might hv bn dropped by kidnappers. My 2nd thot wl b to continue driving incase de'r a trap set by armed robbers. i'll

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'll call 911 and park a safe distance away while keeping eye on them till the cops arrive.

    ReplyDelete
  47. A very dicey situation. I'll check the way they are dressed. If I'm the only one in the car or the road is a silent one, forget it! Otherwise i might consider checking out what's wrong. Mehn but it's really dangerous oh. On top bridge again? Ah!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Linda Forget ur level na Lagos we dey tym no dey ooo #watch ur side.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would av love to pick dem up but bcos of d wickedness of ds world, those children must av been planted dr by evil pple. So I won't pick dem

    ReplyDelete
  54. I won't stop at all cos dey might be a trap by a killer.

    ReplyDelete
  55. No way am i stopping, wot in heavens name wil dey be doing dia at dat ungodly hour,God 4give me but truth is i aint stopping,4 all i knw dey may not be human, alota witches αη∂ wizards on d road seeking 4 who 2 destroy,am not gonna alow odas learn tru my mistek am sure gonna learn tru oda peeps mistek, story is 2 much dis days,i dnt knw wot 2 say buh trut is wt d way tins åЯ̩̥̊Ɛ̷̃̊ hapenin of late am seriously believing d everyday talk dat D WORLD IS COMING 2 AN ENd

    ReplyDelete
  56. i wouldn't because no reasonable parent wil leave their children that way,

    ReplyDelete
  57. me NOT stopping. they may be evil agents for robbers, kidnappers, ritualists, even mami-water. I will drive to any nearest police station or security check point and report.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Of course I would at least take them to the cops or call the cops instead

    ReplyDelete
  59. this one na 'question of the night'

    ReplyDelete
  60. I will not stop, but I will make sure I inform the police. why I will not stop is because they may be set up by armed robbers you never know

    ReplyDelete
  61. No be for this Niaja. Abi i don stop ni

    ReplyDelete
  62. No,they can be witches or might be a set up.Children of nowadays

    ReplyDelete
  63. HMmMmmm! No way,I won't stop. 9ja bad

    ReplyDelete
  64. Of course the humane thing to do is stop and pick them, I'll pick them to find out what the problem is, I know at such a time of the day its risky to stop at such a place but the possibility of miscreants using children of that age to perpetrate evil is very low and rare, if it where to be adults I see I wouldn't mind stopping because there is a high possibility of them being armed robbers or something camouflaging as people who need help.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hard to say but then again the world is a very evil place, plus bad things happen to good people. Those kids could be a snare,i would ask myself how did they get there at that time of the night?Someone must have put them out there. You know what?am just gonna continue driving cos i added 2+2 am getting 60!

    ReplyDelete
  66. In naija...unfortunately my gut instincts will not let me stop....why? Bcos it's naija..

    ReplyDelete
  67. I won't pick them up bcos they didn't ask for help. "Ask n it shall be given" (Princess victoria).

    ReplyDelete
  68. If i see this in naija no can do. But i will call on the police.
But i see this over seas like America or Asia i wil do

    ReplyDelete
  69. If i see this in naija no can do. But i will call on the police.
But i see this over seas like America or Asia i wil do

    ReplyDelete
  70. Don't think I would cos U never can tell if it's a trap .what I would do is to get to d nearest police station tell dem wat I saw and possibly accopany them to d site.anything short of dat I won't deal.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I won't stop cos in naija, anything is possible. It may be a trap by armed robbers to lure you to stop.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Its so unsafe to stop in Nigeria but if there are Emergency numbs to call you can call nd make a report but I will not even think of going to report to d police ! Cos instead of trying to solve d puzzle I will becom d suspect on d spot!
Meanwhile if it s here in the UK, I would stop nd park nd make emergency calls nd am sure dt with 2minutes help would come . Ie police nd even a mobile doctor nd if possible an helicopter. Nd then I can even becom a super star ! Lol but in nig the kids may be set up there as a trap to Rob or even kill.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hell no the thing that made whoever left them on the bridge leave them there must be pretty bad

    ReplyDelete
  74. Honestly Linda, I wouldn't. Why? What do I do if they turn out to be evil children, ehn. One time my bro was driving frm the island early hours of the morning and noticed a car packed right in the middle of the road, by the time he got closer, the car had vanished!

    ReplyDelete
  75. In the first place this is a hypothetical question, and a sort of catch 22 situation. Morally your concience will hammer you for the rest of your life should there be a resulting tragic story from that situation.
However given the environment, ie NAIJA conditions, you may be dammed if you stop and regret it for the rest of your life, as they say you might meet your waterloo as those innocent crying kids could be used as carrots to land a big horse. Different stroke for different folks

    ReplyDelete
  76. Stop ke?

What my eyes have seen on TMB!

It is most likely they were planted there to make sympathetic people stop, like they use pregnant women.

If it were being robbed alone I would have stopped but the fear of being killed for rituals wont make me stop.

On the other hand, if it were to happen here in Norway, I would stop without blinking.

    ReplyDelete
  77. pick ko toothpick ni.. u cant trust notin

    ReplyDelete
  78. I WILL NOT STOP LINDA.

    ReplyDelete
  79. it is the duty of the police to pick them up...so, i wouldn't consider picking them up or not...what about that

    ReplyDelete
  80. I will increase my speed drive pads them and call the police to check them out. At least I try , no be me children go take play pan pan golo . Some times they use babies like 6months old to set traps.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'll live them n speed away,no need 4 explanation nah naija we dey we all know watsup #bushbadytins

    ReplyDelete
  82. Depending on d location doe,if I were in yankee, maybe I would hv stopped but if It were in nigeria, especially dat 3rd mainland bridge; I'll step on d clutch, change my gear and accelerate, that's all.
    My reason?
Thesame reason why u cannot go to maiduguri my fwends

    ReplyDelete
  83. That's very odd...I wouldn't pick them considering the security situation in the country as well as forces of darkness. The best I can do for them is to alert appropriate authorities.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Abeg I won't oooooo they. Might be one chance agents or mami children

    ReplyDelete
  94. Have u heard on ogbanje Linda? If that happens it's definitely a trap in dis Nigeria we are in where people are flushing down babies, burying people alive

    ReplyDelete
  96. for me linda i can shout ooh!i go speed dey go my way.

    ReplyDelete
  102. It's fear of set up by arm robber that can not make me to stop but trulu within me i will feel very guilty for not picking them up

    ReplyDelete
  103. Sadly,I won't...the world today is bad. It could be a trap.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Simple I wouldn't pick them up cos d world is wicked, maybe its a trap for soft minded people. Well I would just dial d police and report it to them, dey r more appopriate to help d children b4 person go jump out of d water come murder u while helping.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Pick wettin. Nna mhen, na 9ja we dey no be samaria. Its either dem be juju pikin or for armed robbers. 9ja is tough, no pity again. The wicked have abused it. #ybnl

    ReplyDelete
  106. From what I had experience I would not pick them cos it could be a set up by robber(s) to catch their prey. But if it was a broad day-light, I ll surely assist.

    ReplyDelete
  107. In this lagos, I ll gently pass by but yet feel hurt for doing that. But den, dnt underestimate the power of wicthes in this part of the world. Nothing goes for nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hummm. It is two thing. Your car might be stolen away from you or they throw you like a stone to the river. I heard a lot about that particular area, they are a lot of robbery over there.

    ReplyDelete
  154. I will not stop, becos they might be a kind of trap used by those armed robbers looking for a good Samaritan that will stop so as to rob the person.A case like that has happened some where in PHC a man and his wife with two children were on there way when they sighted a pregnant woman that seems to be in labour, it was the woman that begged the man to pls stop so as to help the woman, as they stopped to help, men from the under world came out and requested that the man must surrender one of his family if not all, they went with one of the kids.SO! no stopping in such area and such time even in day time self.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Even if they're with their parents, I will never stop, mammy water children, this world is evil.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I won't pick them.. Reason is if it was the life we use to have back then in the 90s I would pick them..but now a lot of evil innovations have evolved. They can be spirits, they can be a set up that as soon as I come down to pick them I will be ambushed. A life at hand is worth two on that bridge Linda..but I pray my conscience let me sleep that night..but trust me I had call the police or go to the nearest police station to help rescue the kids..

I WILL NOT STOP bcos I love my life toooooooooo much.An inceident like that has some where in PHC: a man and his wife with two children were driving when they sighted a pregnant woman that seems to be in labour, the wife begged the hubby to stop so as to help the woman, as they stopped her mates came out surrounded the car and requested that one life must be surrendered to them or else they will all die.according to what I heard they left with one of the children. so

  177. i wont stop in a country like Nigeria. 1. it could be a setup 2. our funny police who behaves irrational can arrest me for child theft and the little children wont be able to defend me.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Lili, I won't even stop atall or even look at dem. Bcos dis life u learn from peolpe mistake. My cusin gave his fellow guy dat is stranded a lift & the guy collected his car from him at gun point. So u don't kn if dose babies at devils, ghosts, marine spirits or even a trap for u. Even if their tears are blood will just apply my gear to the highest one & accelerate further witout looking back.

  181. In Nigeria, i wont o! thats how bad it is.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I would continue driving cos I don't know if they are real or not. There was no accident scene, so where did they come from? And by that time???

    ReplyDelete
  183. i would go on and then alert authorities
    the world is not safe

    ReplyDelete
  184. I wounldnt because they might be evil spirits in form of little children. And d chance of the m been real humans is sleep because wat took little kids like them in d middle of a bridge.Even if they started they to d bridge by 10pm someone would have seen them and helped them. But me seeing them late @ nite I believing they are humans,I must be deceiving myself more.So Lindaikeji I will definitely not pick them @ dat time of d nite because me self go even fear for seeing such @ such time

  187. I won't stop for obvious reason. But I'l drive into a police station and get them to go there. You may just play into the hands of kidnappers, robbers of even ritualists. What i'l do is to get help.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Hmmmm I won't pick them bcos I know they did not do magic to come to that. Place maybe they r used as a trap or spritual things...ik1881

    ReplyDelete
  189. It's a tough one. I will run... Maybe na new format for robbers or something.

You can also approach and police brands you a kidnapper. As for me, I can stop only if my spirit tells me to and there's nobody else in sight that can help them.

    ReplyDelete
  190. i would drive on and alert authorities

    ReplyDelete
  192. I'll report to the nearest security agency.if its a plot by robbers or kidnappers, they would then pick them up but if the reverse is the case then the children would be saved.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Na wa oh,what are they doing there at that time of the night, and how do they get there, witches,or they might b used to rob people, forget, naija anything can happen,I no try am

    ReplyDelete
  194. I won't stop that's aa stupid thing to do in Nigeria cos its usually a plot! But I'd definitely call the police n follow up on feed back! We need to careful in this country there are many sick people out there!

    ReplyDelete
  195. Honestly I wouldn't stop because I will be scared. Secondly this country isn't safe anymore, so it might be a trap. D only thing I might do is to tell people abt d kids
