Don Jazzy shuts down PoP night club

Months after opening his night club, PoP, in Victoria Island, Mavin CEO and ace music producer Don Jazzy has shut it down. Heard he shut down the club down after realizing running a music label is different from running a night club.

PoP was shut down because it wasn't making money as expected. Heard some people will show up at the club just to take photos with him and leave. Also, some important people will buy drinks and not pay. Naija people sef. Lol. Well, he has shut the club down to concentrate fully on his music label.

From experience, in this Lagos, if you give someone else your business to run, they will still run you down because there is a major difference btw salary earner and business owner.

  54. Not surprised he has closed the place. Some Naija people with myopic mind said it was a brilliant business move when he opened the club, but I disagree and I said that the business will sap all his energy. Jay Z, P diddy, Dr Dre, 50 cent, etc don't run clubs or any business. All they do is partner with a business manager that has all this idea and they share the profit. The artist brings the publicity and the other party drives the business. Don Jazzy, needs a total overhaul of his business empire. Time to let people like Wande Coal, DR Sid, D'prince and Co fly their nest. That does not mean he won't produce for them in the future if he develops a beat and he thinks they are the right person to deliver it the way he expect. Please look at The Dream, the guy is fucking rich and understand how market music intelligently. Hardly do you see him throwing away brilliant songs like Don Jazzy is doing now. Please pardon me for saying this, there is not a single person on Marvin label apart from Tiwa Savage that can hold their own and move the record label to a new height. They all lack charisma, persona and don't create any buzz that people can relate to. I have not heard any story or anything that could hold people spellbound and create that fellowship that really sell and make money. Tat is what Don has with Dbanj. Don Jazzy needs to leave Nigeria, take his laptop and go on vacation, come to the UK or go to US in Summer; meet people, discover new talents(Get a new beautiful bride that has personality or potentials like Dbanj, Wizkid,Iyanya to name a few. These artists I've mentioned are not great singers , but they know their UPS, make things happen and hold people spellbound, sign big Major endorsement deals. Go to international fashion shows with a business manager to meet stars, build contacts and make deals, do some radio appearances and let the international people know that you produced Oliver Twist, Endowed and was the creative genius behind Dbanj, tell them the story about it, story about you and Dbanj and the rest of the Mohit crew. Sign with good marketing guys of Steve Stoute's potentials or calibre to get him big endorsement deals that bring in big Money. I don't see why Don Jazzy can't have a Headphone endorsed by him and marketed internationally, but not primarily in Nigeria.I think this is okay for now. A word is enough for a wise.
