First female UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher dies at 87

Former British Prime Minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher died this morning at the age of 87 after suffering a massive stroke. Mrs Thatcher was UK's first female Prime Minister, serving from 1979 to 1990, the longest run by any 20th century prime minister.

Her spokesman Lord Bell said: 'It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning.'. May her soul rest in peace...amen.

    I respect her confidence and her strong convictions to bettering Britain, however they didnt give her the name 'iron lady' for no reason. I was young when she was the Prime minister and remember how she abolished a lot of privileges to schools such as stopping the free milk, stopped any children born in the uk after 1984 acquiring British passports, and introducing the dreaded poll tax that made people hate her. On the plus side she introduced the right to buy scheme which helped a lot of people get onto the property ladder. Unfortunately during her tenure Britain had gone into recession so a lot of things became bleak to the point that social unrest became the order of the day. However, I will rememeber her for being the first female prime minister...thats all!

    I never liked her, she was a strong supporter of the apartheid regime in South Africa, a government that was killing blacks in the streets for standing up against oppression in their own country. I am happy because Nelson Mandela not only outlived her, she witnessed the election of Mandela as President, something she never thought will happen.
