Cancer patient Funmi Lawal dies

I'm sure you all remember her. Funmi Lawal is the UNILAG law graduate who was diagnosed with malignant sarcoma, a kind of cancer at the shoulder region, who we raised money for on LIB last year. She's the same lady music producer, Don Jazzy donated N2million to. You can read more about her HERE, HERE and HERE

Funmi's left arm had to be amputated in January 2013 to save her life...unfortunately she still didn't make it. She died this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The cancer had spread to her lungs and she had completely lost the ability to breathe without a respirator. May her soul rest in peace...amen.

    Reminds me of when I lost my brother to chondrosarcoma. Cancer of the bone. After a 20k plus surgery in the UK, it also spread to his lungs nd he also died in LUTH one year after. My advice to all that knows anyone with cancer: show love to that person. Let them @ least have friends and family around when they are suffering. Cancer has no cure. It can only be managed.

    R.I.P. Linda we need to be educated on the causes of this cancer. A lot of ppl have been dying from it this last ten yrs.it seems its spreading like an epidemic. Let Drs here educate us on the causes and preventive measures we can take to stop it.

    This is a clarion call on all women and men. Please always have your regular medical checkup so that when these ailments are discovered at an early stage, they can be managed better than when it is in the advanced stage.

    All men in their 40s must get tested for prostate cancer regularly and if you have had a member of your family die as a result of any form of cancer in the past please endeavour to get tested regularly.

    All sexually active women also must get tested for cervical and breast cancer. These two are the fastest type of cancer taking the lives of women in Nigeria. Please ladies, for the breast cancer, you can actually do the test yourself like 5 or 7 days after your menstrual cycle. You can also walk into the hospital to get tested fro both breast and cervical cancer. If you have had some member of your family die of cancer in the past, please always get a regular medical checkup o.

    May God grant the soul of Funmi Lawal eternal rest. Amen.

    If only cures could be found for most cancers but of course, expensive treatment is what pharmaceutical companies are after.

    Funmi was a friend, a sister,a classmate, I woke up this morning and heard the news. God am so in shock and didn't believe,had goose pimples all over me. May almighty let her soul rest in perfect peace and give her family strength to bear the loss.*crying*

    Hmmmm anoda loss via cancer....2day makes it exactly 2wks my mother died, she had stomach cancer, we found out afta she had fibroid operation that it had generated to cancer, for 6mths we battled to save her life, her stomach got so swollen like I have neva seen even on a pregnant woman b4! And d pain? That's another story! Rip mum, Rip Funmi lawal.....may God spare the rest of us all

The Cancer called sarcoma does not just affect d shoulder .Some people reading will think that it only affects the shoulder. Pls so that some one else who has this wil go and get quick treatment. Mistake on your side I know u did not mean it that way .but people read and understand things differently. Thanks
