Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority DG, Dr Harold Demuren, sacked

The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren, has been sacked. A statement was released today Monday March 11th saying the decision was approved by President Goodluck Jonathan after “a careful consideration” of Demuren’s “unsatisfactory response to the numerous concerns of stakeholders in the aviation sector.”

His successor will be announced in the coming days.

    1. For all I know, Mr Demuren has been a DG of Civil Aviation Authority for like ages.
Dear Linda, u cud ve written *he has been relieved of his duties* instead of *sack*, that's so harsh for a person of Mr Demuren, he had done wonderfully well discharging his duties in that sector. I think it's high time another capable hand directed the affairs where he stopped.
      Very well.

  25. If true, Nigerians should better stick to thier road travels. The ex-DG should return to the US or better go to one of those African countries and help them with the wealth of experience He has in Aviation.

When you allow a mediocre take reign of rulership cowardly act becomes the trade mark of leadership.

Meanwhile you better post this o

Linda funny how you talk about Naija pastors but you havent blogged about the dirt coming up in Rome at all!! If that was a Naija church, you would have given us daily updates.

See this, to hide homosexual ways, "the Holy See had purchased a €23 million (£21 million) share of a Rome apartment block that houses Europe’s biggest gay sauna."

    ReplyDelete
  44. Pls get ur facts right before commenting. He had a retirement party sometime last year before the Dana crashed, hence he retired. He was told to come back when the crash happened because there was no one competent to handle such situations. So this talk about him being sacked is bull...

  47. He is not playing ball Period! That's why he was sacked. Before u know it all sorts of licenses will be issued to Airlines with only one engine working in their planes, and all salaries will be carted away,or put in fixed deposits. Now that things are getting better, they sack the man? Pity...smh

  49. Mtcheeeeeeeew!!! Shld have been axed since he gave that insensitive report @ the enquiry set up,he's not the only one that shld be sacked tho. What of the silly aviation minister?!!! N how come he's easily sacked and the likes of dieziani and otteh are still there??!!!

  50. The ovation was over long time back. Demuren kept dancing even when the audience had long dispersed.
He was helped out with this kick.
A man with good conscience would have bowed out with the Dana crash. He became a liability and yet kept drawing pay.
Who pays a non-performer? If conditions were not good enough as he might rationalize, why did he stay put? Now may we say : good riddance to bad junk, politics or no politics.

    ReplyDelete
  51. You guys are very cruel and hate people who do the right thing. Mr Demuren was very principled and those who work directly with him know that. I have worked with the man for years. He is very strict and does not tolerate nonsense. You naijas like laid back jobs where you do as you please and no one corrects you. He has suspended me for lateness when he knew they were packing dead bodies on the road of where I was driving from. And I understood why he did it. we cannot always use traffic and other stupid excuses to be incompetent. He was a good boss and did his job well just strict and you guys didnt like that. Lazy bums

  53. demuren was competent, relatively principled and honest , internationally respected and understood politics. it is naive to assume that he was removed to better the industry. Industry watchers will tell you his shoes are too big to be fit into. Lets hope a seasoned technocrat replaces him or plane will soon start dropping out of the skies again. He had his faults, but for all the good work he put in, he did not deserve to be treated this way. we never ever honour our own.

  57. The Nigeria Govt has made a big mistake of sacking Dr Demuren... At 1st, I never lyked him.. But when I started working for him, I realized how hard-working this man is... He directed dat all mid-level staff must go for oversea training at least once a year.. Look at the workers in NCAA now, All aviation stake-holders are afraid of them becuz of the intellectual behavior they hav developed while working

  58. Ur husband must be a lazy man or a corrupt worker. Demuren is d best man 4 d job, ask ur husband 2 step-up his game @ d office.

  59. i felt sorry when l read through the comments on this blog. Most of this comments l guess came from nigerians between 18 and 40years.

Dr Harold Demuren is one of the finest public servants l have ever come acrossed.& straight years at ncaa was a remarkable era in the history of our civil aviation. He has done his best, though the ruling class sacrificed him for 2015 efforts.meanwhile,l wish the incoming DG success in his endeavours.Dr Harold,God bless u
