    4. Yes o. She will always be an outsider. Her in-laws will smile in her face but secretly wish and even plot for a Yoruba wife. He will for sure keep a Yoruba female outside who might even have his kids. Na their way be dat. Its funny though because they don't mind their daughters marrying Igbo men.

    12. All these tribalistic fools. Yet these same ibos will not leave Yoruba land especially Lagos. D couple knew wat they saw in themselves b4 they got married. We've past d age of being close minded. Don't Ibo or Hausa people or even d so called white pple take second wives. Is it just d Yoruba pple? See d Ibo pple talking as if they r any better. They prefer d male child more than the female child nd when their married male child dies, they torture d wife nd d family takes their son's property. Leaving d woman nd her children to suffer. Problematic set of pple. See someone talking abt some tribe being dirty. You guys r d worse. Go to Ladipo, Alaba (Ibo pple base in Lagos) nd see hw dirty they've turned d plc to be. Ibo men were not good enough for the bride. Swallow d bitter pill. HML to the couple.

cease fire guys. althouhg individual differences exist, yoruba men dont generally make good husbands.my sister is igbo married to a yoruba who abandoned her many years ago.one of the children is now a graduate and i have collected his cv to try find him a job.the girl among them is concluding a computer lesson coutesy of my sponsorship and i intend to sponsor her to read medicine if she passess jamb which i'm confident she will, being a very inelligent girl.anyway,i guess her father will turn up when it is time to collect the bride price. whatever i do,im doing for my sister.igbo girls, shine your eyes.dont jump into fire in the name of love. if you marry a yeruba man,the yorubas will still deride you as iyawo igbo and your children will be called omo igbo and they will never get the same rights accorded full blooded yoruba children.i am sorry if i offend some yorubas but that is the bitter truth.

But then I will never be so stupid to draw such a conclusion that all ibo men are like that...its high time we think like learnads and not illitrates..because whether a person is ibo or hausa or yoruba his/her actions has little or nothing to do with tribe. They marry from what ever tribe- HELL its different for yoruba girls because a LARGE number of yoruba girls are still mixed with other tribes but ONLY claim yoruba side like Most yoruba people. I cannot say what is a typical "yoruba girl"- too many have mixture in their family. It is VERY COMMON to see a yoruba person who is mixed with another tribe or country but lean more to yoruba side.MAJORITY OF YORUBA PEOPLE I'VE MET HAVE A PARENT WHO IS NOT YORUBA OR IS HALF.

Its a pity really, cuz if we the youths are acting this way, then Nigeria is in deep trouble

  86. Irony of life! Even when you marry from your geographical area, you are still dicriminated on. I have a friend, who is from lagos state and her husband is from Ijebu. Mother in law, insists that the guy must marry an Ijebu girl because his wife is omo eko!(lagosian)

I also have another friend who is from Anambra and the guy from Imo. Right now the wedding plans are on hold simply because they are from different states in Igbo land.

People lets get real here. Thats why we are so fucked up. Who cares where you are from. What guarantee of happiness do i have if i marry from my tribe?

That is why the Igbos would never move forward, see how underdeveloped our states are and its because of such mediocre thinking! 99. She has just entered the "one chance" car. My sister married an Ondo man who dug the gold in her so much that it sucked her dry and killed her. Big time gold digger!! All that while, he had a yoruba wife living in his mum's house in Ondo State. While my sister was having kids (3), his iyawo with his mum was also having hers. We only found out when my sister passed on.

I am a Southerner and I have vowed that none of my kids will ever marry a Yoruba person. I will not even allow them date!! Everyone else in my family (including me) is married to people from outside our tribe. I am not tribalistic but my sister's experience (God bless her soul) has made me wary of all Yoruba men. Very pretentious and they will always marry their own eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anonymous 11:19 AM. I am from the south south. I am glad you used the word 'if'. Igbos cant leave Lagos and they will never leave because they is NOTHING for them in the east. They are everywhere in Nigeria, looking for a better life. Everyday, they keep running away from the east. It will be a good thing if they all go back to the east. The east shouldn't be a place you go to in December and leave in January. Arrogance, that's the main problem with the Igbos. Even Chinua Achebe did not spare them in his book 'There Was A Country'. They should try to be humble.

    ReplyDelete
  108. @ "there must be something wrong with the igbo men if their women keep running to Yoruba men". There is nothing wrong with igbo men, it is just that our women are still suffering from inferiority complex as a result of Biafra war loss. The same thing happened in Germany after the second world war; German women were throwing themselves at Jews and non-Germans. The powers that be in Nigeria keep that in our collective subconscious and the other tribes conspire to keep things that way. Any time the igbos get anything good these people shout nepotism; look at how the football team was made to be Biafran Eagles (one moron calling himself AremoOdua even analysed the increase in wealth the "Igbo Nation" would get as a result of the triumph in SA), just because there are more ibos in the team, or how the promotion of 4 igbo army officers out of 37 was tribalised . The people complaining are possibly reacting to the way Yoruba men gang up against any yoruba girl dating outside the tribe, especially if she is well-bred. They will call her all sorts of names and blackmail her into leaving the guy. A Yoruba girl marrying outside the tribe must really really love the guy and most likely willing to die than leave him, if not, by the time the name calling starts she will have a rethink. Some of the guys condemning people as "tribalists" here would abuse their friend's sister who dares date a non-yoruba, not to talk of their own sister.

Take a break. This Union has been blessed by the Almighty God. If God dint want this union it would not have come to be. Let me see who again will speak against the will of God here.
If Igbo people leave Lagos the air will be fresher but you see Yoruba ppl are very accommodating. We have accommodated all tribes from all parts of the world.

    ReplyDelete
  110. At Andy,

Yoruba women are open to marrying anyone, including igbos, but igbo men are not open to marriage outside their tribe. That is the truth! From experience, Essi baby.

    ReplyDelete
  111. This is serious o. Why is it that the other tribes seem to dislike the yorubas?I once had a yoruba boss and he was quite nice. The only thing I know about them (yorubas) is that they pretend a lot. You can't trust them.
Btw, make una free the new couple na.

  114. Igbo people worship male children, they regard female children as inferior, so why wont they run to other tribes that value women? The worst part of it all, they have the Osu caste system, an ancient belief they still refuse to do without. Why cut off one of your own all in the name of tradition?

I don't know them but who knows, they might be perfectly happy. There's no need to start marriage with such negativity. It's not right ! Imagine if you got married a few days ago and you come on a blog to read this. It's not fair on Gozy or any woman at all.

Next her kids will start answering Gbenga,Taiwo,Segun and all d shitty yoruba names? Fuck dat! Yorubamen r also kisss and tell,it does not matter if u r their wive! A lot of you spent time bashing the other tribe: d igbos bashing the yorubas and the yorubas bashing the igbos, only few wished the couple happy married life(not that they need it from you) Anyway I enjoyed the myopic views of the yorubas and the igbos here; am still laughing in pidgin from ur comments.
