10 opposition governors back merger to unseat PDP

10 governors from four different political parties - ACN, APGA, CPC, ANPP met in Lagos yesterday Tuesday 5th February and unanimously endorsed merger plans to unseat the PDP in 2015.

The governors who attended the meeting in Lagos are: Babatunde Fashola (ACN, Lagos), Ibikunle Amosun (ACN, Ogun), Kayode Fayemi (ACN, Ekiti), Abiola Ajumobi (ACN, Oyo), Rauf Aregbesola (ACN, Osun) Rochas Okorocha (APGA, Imo), Umaru Tanko Almakura (CPC, Nasarawa), Abdulaziz Yari (ANPP, Zamfara). Kashim Shettima of Borno and Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe were represented by Senator Dejere Alkali.

The governors said the reason for the alliance to unseat the PDP is to fix Nigeria:
“We are concerned about the state of the nation and in the interest of our people we deliberated on what can be done to rescue our country. As governors, we fully endorse the merger initiatives already commenced by our various political parties. Nigeria is greater than all of us and we have a duty to make it work for our people and the future.”
Can they do it? Unseat PDP in 2015?

Their greed has already exposed them and some are sell outs. These governors can act fast and take advantage of the present situation

  22. Most of these people were in PDP but lost out. Why are these whores moving from one party to the other? GREED & THEIR POCKETS. Leaving the PDP for another party or forming a mega party is not the solution. These men are same corrupt politicians who have been there all along. Crossing over to other parties or the merger of parties will not makes thieves become saints over night. People shine your eyes & do not be deceived by the sudden born again politicians wearing another uniform. They are same no matter the party. Their so called merger is not in our interest(s) but theirs & their families. I will support & vote for GEJ anytime any day.

  23. My people just leave these day dreamers they think we are all stupid East of the Niger. We will leave Goodluck Jonathan our Brother to vote for Huasa/Yoruba Ticket that destroyed our homeland during the war, that thought must be the height of hallucination ever.
They want to merge all moslem parties to form Govt at the centre with muslim-muslim ticket my foot with over 60% christian population in the face boko haram jihad.Jonathan will win PDP nomination, will win the votes of North Central,North West and entire South South and SouthEast plust 40% South West Votes because of Igbos & other minorities in the West, then we shall see how this their new Muslim Merger Party will win election at the centre.

The only gain of the merger is to create more robbust electoral contest in Nigeria where the new opposition party will win more states in the North to prepare for 2019 general election after Buhari and Tinubu will out through old age, then characters like El-Rufai,Ribadu,Fashola,Fola,will be the new face of the party.

  25. Of course, they can fix it. PDP is made up of human beings and these governors are human beings too. Understanding and accepting that there is a problem is the first step to fixing a problem. What should qualify them to be members of this alliance is their contributions to their individual states. Some states have really improved in terms of infrastructure and others have regressed. Their plans will work if they do not have hidden agenda.

  27. Big party is another form of sharing our collective wealth. what has the non-pdp states performances been compared to the PDP states go and check out. And to say d same people who confused buhari @ last merger are still surrounding him sends one message. even as a president he will fail Nigeria cause as a leader he can’t think for himself and same people will still confuse him and he will make more expensive mistakes than pple claim jonathan did. he can’t even see merger thro as a leader will he see rulership of nigeia thro? I sincerely doubt that. better start thinking of another credible candidate in mind or u will loose. Also remember with security gradually stabilizing, JED has enough time to win d hearts of majority thro economic developments dat people can see if he wants to. while the other parties can keep imagining dat by saying PDP is corrupt and not working much better than PDP in their own states and constituencies will win 2015. Lets wait and see d HAND OF GOD.

  28. This can only happen if †ђεy present a very good candidate. Fashola would have been the best candidate but only few appreciate and understand what he doing in Lagos. Amosun is also trying buh few people see's the transformation going on in Ogun state... Rochas is a no go area. I just hope †ђεy find the right candidate.

    1. Why is Rochas a no go area? Have you been to his state or studied his vision before ruling him out? Or you are quick to do so because his name is Okorocha and not Ademola? And Fashola and Amosun are the only viable ones you can mention? Tribalism alone will cause the downfall of APC even before it takes off, and I know where the tribalism will start from... From ACN supporters! SMH!!!

Such phrases are not new to the Nigerian political landscape. ``we are there to rescue!!!`` Rescue who but themselves from becoming useless after their tenures as Governors. What is their score card as Governors? What have they achieved meaningfully for the common man on the streets of their respective states? Have the index of the poor reduced or added considerably? They are trying to save face by jumping on a so called new political bride called a merger party. Take my word its all about what they stand to gain politically and financially. Its all about rescuing themselves and not the Nigerian people.
Unfortunately, the poor Nigerians will hail them as the messiahs they have been waiting for all this time , and might even kill or maim themselves for these crooks in power.

Like we have all seen all the Governors, The front runners of this merger have no interest for Nigerian citizen and some of them also have been the bane of insecurity in this country. What we all have to do is to support the President by reducing distraction and politics of calumny, bitterness and rancour to move this great nation forward. This group of Politicians forming a political Organization that will crumble in no distant time can never make a different in the Life of Nigerians. Support President Goodluck Jonathan to take this Nation to the Next Level.
