Worshippers give Bishop Oyedepo 700 cars as offering

This actually happened a few weeks back but I'm only just hearing about it. According to sources in the know, during Winners Chapel Cross Over service on Tuesday January 1st in Canaanland, Ota, Ogun state, worshipers of the church made donations of over 700 exotic cars to the church. People who felt they had been richly blessed in 2012 came to the cross over service with different donations, most significant was the number of exotic brand new cars and SUVs that flooded Canaanland. The people who donated them dropped the keys and documents of the cars during offering. The church auctioned the cars at very cheap prizes to its members. Some cars were sold for as low as N300k.

    5. I agree with Grace. Why won't Linda post the gifts donated in her church or to her pastor in a " neutral " manner? The heading gives a wrong impression and people shouldn't comment on what they do not understand. Besides, what others do with their money is their business not anyone else's.

    6. I agree with Grace. The heading gives a wrong impression about him and the church. Why won't Linda post on gifts donated to her pastor or her church in a "neutral" manner? There's a difference between reading and reading in between the lines, besides whatever people choose to donate is their business not anyone else's and definitely not gist!

  79. These so called blessed people giving the exotic cars, what is the opportunity cost to the country Nigeria and its people.Take it anywhere these so called blessings are the reason we don not have electricity, water ,good hospitals, good educational institutions. It is about time we start asking ourselves these very questions. If only we had even a million true Christians in Nigeria it will be very evident in everyday living in our country. Corruption is the air we breathe in Nigeria

    ReplyDelete
  80. Is he trying to insult our intelligence? Im not the kind of person that criticize's people's actions. But for for pastors of his kind in Nigeria, i will make an exception. There is nothing worse than using the desperation of people seeking spiritual solutions, to make money. He gave the cars out at give away prices. So what? Linda, I beg you, listen to those that claim to be members of his church. It makes you wonder whether they worship God or worship him. What is even worse is that they actually condemn other churches and paint his church as the only church of salvation. This is a man that slaps people in the name of chasing out demons. Even our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ did not need to do that to win souls. Wake up people! Differentiate pastors from profiteers.

  92. Its a seed offering, and people donated as they feel led, by the Spirit. When I give God a seed offering, its to God, not to man. They didnt give it to him personally. The title is misleading. I dont go to Winners but I know the principle though of seed and harvest. This was a Shiloh sacrifice, some give money, some give clothes, some give land/property, cars, whatever they consider precious. This isnt news, so LOL "sources in the know", it happens at Shiloh every year. In life, once you realize that all you have is God, and you are easy to let go, your hands will always be ready to receive.

Its funny how everyone wants from God, but many find it hard to let go and give back to Him.

  98. blind, deaf , dumb and foolish. we have so much to learn. sowing seeds come with a lot of factors to consider, 1. is the seed a good one
    2. is the soil a fertile one.
    3. are the the conditions necessary for growth, development that would lead to harvest in place.
    4. is it the season.

the parable of the sower makes us understand these things.
Don't expect a bountiful harvest when u sow a bad seed, neither should you expect one if the soil is not a good one nor if the timing is wrong (season).

if you must sow, you must do so wisely.

God is everywhere it is not imperative that you sow a good seed in church before you reap bountiful harvest. there is so much fertile land out there waiting for good seeds.

prophets of the old did not live in affluence and so depended on God and their brethren for material things.
We have to be wise, we were created so.

I believe they gave the cars to God as a painful seeds.giving God wat cost you somrthing just like David did in the bible.understanding and knowledge of Gods word makes people act like that.when you come to that level that your eyes are open via the scriptures, you willunderstand what they did.sowing a seed of a car is not only done in that church ,its don in many churches include catholic and anglican.God blesss me to sponsor your work.

  106. all you Christians that allow yourselves be deceived by ORDINARY men are at best laughable, but usually it is pity that I feel for you. So many people who could help family members, villagers, beggers on the streets (who you only give 'change' as your christian act of the week) allow fear control you.; fear of pastor, fear of hell, fear of people chasing you from your ancestral lineage. It is a great pity. I'm not saying dont be a Christian but the idea of tithing is supposed to be about wealth distribution. We are supposed to help the less privileged around us, not try to buy a God's love and forgiveness. If the churches really used the monies to help our society there would be a gradual change. Forget the man of God- but what the fuck would your jesus do?

  109. Lol @ Nigerians and their greed. Look at the level of poverty and the general widespread apathy portrayed by these same people when it comes to those living in poor conditions. Most Nigerians don't give to the Church or God just for the sake of giving. They give because they want more.

How about just giving. Give to someone who ACTUALLY needs it. God isn't going to punish you if you did that. In fact, God encourages that more than frivolous donations to churches. Sell the car and give the proceeds to someone. Sponsor a child to a nice school. Man, there are so many things that a person can do in this country for others who are less privileged, and instead most of us give to the church. It's all greed.

Anyways, I've come to understand that when religion is concerned, Nigerians lose their minds. It's desperation and poverty that's the cause of it. Everyone is claiming God, yet corruption in this country is at a record high, not just at the government level, but among even the most common Nigerian. Everywhere. People are just twisted inside with no sense of right or wrong.

    Chucks

  110. Givers always remain on top.I sowed a seed of just 50000 naira which was my last and i wanted to use it in paying my rent which was not even upto half of what i needed to pay a six months rent. The next day God surprises me and someone calls to ask for my account number and then the exact amount i needed to pay for a 1 year rent was what was paid into my account.PRAISE GOD!Thats what giving does

  113. @ Scott Samuel, will u cut off those rotten hands u used to type that rubbish and shut d mind that u are thinking it with...

how is that seed not sown in the right season, eh? or d write soil..u talk about d parable of the sower, why speak of something u obviously do not understand? that parable refers to how so many will fall out of the kingdom becos of wehere they fell and d rest, pls go back and read it again n this time ask for understanding,ok?..
i guess u want 'em to come and sow the "good" seed in ur life hence the outburst..

what classifies a seed as good or bad..be careful about what u say or write against the people of God, lest God punish u for ignorance and foolishness!!!

do u know d amount of people that come to shiloh, there are so much!!
and it's no one's fault that majority of them were inclined to sow a car..maybe they want something bigger than what they have sown..
the cars are not for Daddy Oyedepo but the church!!

  114. To everyone talking about the church being blessed, that is arrant nonsense! The money could have been donated to motherless babies' homes, to projects in nigeria that are actually dedicated to improving the country. This man owns institutions that collect FEES from attendees. Surely he generates a lot of cash from these institutions. Guys we need to stop worshiping our leaders in Nigeria an worship God! Jesus was not a man of wealth, ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT!!!

  115. God loves prosperity. The bible says "i wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health".God also said in the bible that in blessing he will bless his children and we shall be a blessing to all nations of the earth. If God does not bless thos working in his vineyard who else should he bless especially since the silver and the gold belongs to him.

  117. I mostly laughed when reading the comments. the fact is most people just posted ignorantly imagine "somebody wishing she had a man of God as her sugar daddy" God go help some people o!
During shiloh, people gave a lot, my sister gave her pair of bcbg shoes she got as a gift, my mom gave her gold set, my brother-in-law his laptop and so on, you know why we gave these things, so that God can bless us so we can be a blessing to others. Papa did not say if you don't give, you will die or you will not progress; instead he said if you don't have don't give.
About helping the poor, Winners Chapel has a welfare arm that just donates food items, clothing and cash weekly to anybdy that come in, be they Christian, moslem or otherwise. Last week, i brought two bags of baby clothes to church to be distributed to those in need.
I used to condemn Winners as prosperity church but since I joined them and see that things have started chaging in my life for the better, nobody told me before i started giving to God more and to others around me also.
You can't understand this until you see for yourself. God bless you all

  119. @ Anonymous wow! i guess what u choose to call yourself speaks volumes. you do not have the mental capacity to understand what i wrote. let me ask you a couple of questions, do you know how many churches we have in Nigeria? do you also know that Christians are the majority in this country? do you know what the word Christian means? Then why is the majority Christ like and the country is the way it is today? you cannot understand where i am coming from.

Let me let you in on something, the best example you can get in life is from nature. That is the picture i was trying to paint when i used the parable of the sower.

please just don't be in a hurry to advertise your short comings.

Finally, when God calls an individual to do His biding he provides everything necessary.

Honestly it would take only ONE true man called by God to go on his knees and things would turn around for dis nation.

  124. Nigerians shud start to learn that seed offerings can also be given elsewhere outside these churches. We have loads of orphanages, old people's homes, homes for physically challenged children, just to mention a few. Please and please channel your resources God has blessed you with there where people can truly benefit. David Beckham at the moment has agreed a new deal only that he has channelled his earnings to charity. Pastor David could have done the same.(just saying). Besides the pastor is not to blame, the congregation needs to be schooled.

  126. Well, if people are led to donate to the church, why not? I just hope the monies used in buying the cars donated are from legitimate sources. Not after 419ing someone or committing fraud or a politician who has embezzled. Anyway, that's not the church's fault. To people criticising Wnners for this gesture, I don't understand you o, I think Bishop did a good thing by auctioning them to church members. We too like free things in this country!

  130. I was born a catholic and remained so until late 2011 when an old lady invited me to the winners chapel, warri.
I got to the gate of this church and was held in awe by the sheer size of the complex, called winners.

There and then i told myself that this man's Gos is big enough for my ambition;as at that time i was without a job.

After the 2012 annual fasting and prayer of the church i git a call that changed my life, for good.

The things i have learnt since joining the commission i never heard as a catholic.
Papa'a teaching has so transformed my life tjat i am today a blessing to others.

I will odder his Gis anything as a sacrifice, for he is worth much more than anu material poasession.

Never even knew how to pray beyknd the templatized prayers in the simple prayer book, never knew the loeds prayers was actually a guide and not a prayer per se,never thought about Jesus injunction about giving bread and wine as communion:i only got bread as a catholic...so much to talk about..but Wimners is my shiloh for life

  134. Some people are so shallow, you keep saying the man of God should give the cars to the poor. Will you provide money for them to fuel the car? Do you want to make them poorer? Do you know car is a liabitility, unless you use it for commercial purpose?? You? Yes you who have big head and judging men of God. How many cars have you bought for the poor? Are you destined to be receiver and not the giver? Get a life.
