UNIPORT shut down indefinitely as students set Omuokiri-Aluu ablaze

At least 12 houses have been set ablaze at Omuokiri-Aluu by angry Nigerian students who descended the small village in their hundreds this evening protesting the violent murder of four students. UNIPORT students were mobilised by students of other universities under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS. The students blocked major roads in Port Harcourt before moving to Aluu but fortunately for the indigenes, they were all gone before the students got there. I saw it on TV, the whole village was deserted, not even goats or chickens were seen anywhere. So they value their own lives?

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the school revealed this evening that the university has been shut down indefinitely.

  31. Hi Linda How are you? Nice job in covering issues bothering around this killings. God would bring out this guys but my point exactly is it should not be hard at all. The video says a lot and gives a lot of leads.

Secondly, the students should not deceive themselves, as we could see from the video that there would have been students of the university among the mob and they didn't stop them, call the police or something. At least they called the parents of one or two of the deceased. Resulting in revenge is medicine after dead. While we mourn, let hope the law would take its course. @WEEC_NG

This is typical Nigerian mentality. Respond to barbarism with barbarism. I hope they get prosecuted too. For arson and disturbing the peace.
The whole point of the outrage about the Aluu killings is that people should not take the law into their own hands. Jungle justice is barbaric.
These UNIPORT boys are doing the exact thing. taking the law into their own hands and so they are not even better than the people they are condemning.

  41. The 5th guy that escaped the Aluu murder has given an account of what happened but wants to remain Anonymous for fear of his life. Here is what he said:

The brutal murder of the Four students of the University of Port Harcourt has become a major source of worry to many Nigerians who feel that human lives have no value as far as the country is concerned.
Since the incident, many people have advocated for the immediate arrest of those behind the heinous act and possibly charge them if found guilty. While some have continued to advocate for death sentence, others advocate for life imprisonment.
However, Daily Post investigation reveals that none of the four murdered students was involved in robbery or any kind of pilfering. Our correspondent spoke with an anonymous colleague of the late Llyod and Ugo whom he said were aspiring musicians and his colleagues.
It was gathered from the source that Ugo and Lloyd were cousins. Someone was indebted to Ugo around the community and had vowed not to pay. Ugo who was popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet with a fearless University guy (name-withheld) to help them track the debtor who had been on the run. The guy who was feared by many in the school had accepted to accompany his friends to get the debtor tracked down and get his own percentage of the money. They were joined by their room mate, Chidiaka. On their way to the place, they met one of their friends, Tekena, who knew nothing about the plan, and he joined, just for the hype as it’s normal with young boys of juvenile age.
They were actually 5 that got to the debtor’s compound. Unknown to the other four, the “Confra” guy who was contracted to intimidate the debtor just to get the money paid went with a gun .When they got to the guy’s house around 12am, fight ensued, as the debtor confronted them. A next door neighbour, a woman started shouting on top of her voice, that they were thieves, attracting other bad boys around the areas, whom they said were mainly “vickins”, rival cult group of the one on contract. They swung into action by tipping the vigilantee who confronted the boys, referring to them as thieves. At the process of beating the boys, and while they were trying to explain, the fifth ‘guy’,the cultist brought out his gun to scare the people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at the mercy of the villagers.
The explanation they tried to give fell on the community’s deaf ears as the people insisted that they must be killed. Another close friend of Ugo and Lloyd had reacted by calling on the president to take action against those behind the murder of the four students. The young man who had pleaded that his identity be kept secret said: “Mr President those 4 boys who were killed at Aluu near Uniport were my young friends. I was their mentor. Two of them were promising rappers and singers. I am forwarding their work ironically titled “ain’t no love in the city”.
This story got to dailypost as an eyewitness account from the 5th boy who escaped. He narrated this to Ugo and Lloyd’s friend who has pleaded that his identity be kept secret.

As far as I am concerned, most Nigerians has the tendency to do what those Aluu killers did. All, they need is just to convince themselves that what they are doing is 'right'.

Simply on LIB, many people will insult U very well for ur own opinion. If we can't tolerate each other on a level like this, where can we?

I feel bad for those boys. I still can't get their faces out of my head and i dint even watch the video! Feel bad for their folks but no amount of revenge can bring them back.

This world is coming to an end and the gift of life is God's way of showing us that we have to make things right quickly cos anyone can die any day. 86. As much as I do not surport violence in any form, but you all see what various goverments (both fed, state, local and even various leaders) have tolorated and allowed in the past...jungle justice! It happens regularly in Nigeria. I'm glad this has opened the eyes of everyone. Like they say 'everyday for the thief...one day for the ownner'.
Let all of us say NO to jungle justice!
    Let justice prevail!

    ReplyDelete
  87. NEWS FILTERING IN has it that Ugonna's mother has died of shock following the brutal torture, burning and eventual murder of her only son.

Se there lives would ve been saved, but dey all looked on till dey killed school mates. We don't want more innocent blood to be shed execpt for the blood of d murderers.

    ReplyDelete
  92. So they value their own lives huh? All I knw is God will punish them.#justiceforAluu4#

    ReplyDelete
  93. Omg! Nobody was present in Aluu? So they can run? They shud keep running the wrath of God will catch up to them sooner than they expected! *sobbing*

    ReplyDelete
  94. In as much as wat the #Aluu people did isn't just wrong but barbaric, the actions of the students isn't d way 4ward too! It is the same jungle justice which we shld condemn! Sure they wld hv killed the villagers if they had met anyone. This act only takes us back 2 square one! God help Nigeria.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Is this not the 2 wrongs Don't Make a right you people have been preaching. So is burnig house not barbaric. Is every aluu person not guilty. Why not leave the aluu people to the police to investigate, double standards

    ReplyDelete
  99. Kukere dancing azonto. Pls guys 12 house is not enough, it is not aceptable if u people worked hard with the crowd I saw on those pictures, you guys should have burnt down the whole village and is not as if fuel is scarce. If you people divided yourselves in groups of 20 each, the whole house in that village would have been on fire by now. Well u guys tried but you people should rest and go back there in a weeks time and finish up cos for now am a lil disappointed. Wicked village. Ehee before I forget u guys should not forget the chief's house it is very important. ALLU 4 RIP. I knw most people will not support this but I think the villager should also taste jungle justice.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Appreciate the anger, but this is not just the way to seek enduring justice for these boys. It Rather creates avenues for the authorities to sweep the matter under the carpet, if not making full investigation and possible apprehension of the murderers difficult. NANS should call the students back and stop the rioting. The proper thing to do is to get involved with the right authorities and the police and by using all the photographic and video evidence gathered, go after every person within the vicinity of the killing. This evil act must never be allowed to die down. JUSTICE FOR ALUU FOUR! JUSTICE FOR LLOYD, UGONNA, TEKENA AND CHIDIAKA!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. yea so i know two wrongs don't make a right, but in this case, fuck it. Let them burn that useless village down!!!

Ugonna's mum passed on 2 years back, and you can imagine how the family feels losing the only son barely two years after.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think states like rivers,Lagos, anambra... Should make available a park or a place where people can go and pay their condolence, drop notes, flowers, burn candles. It won't bring them back but to show we care and we are concerned.

Nigerians are on a very long thing. We condemned the aluu people for taking laws into their hands. How re these persons better?

    Failed country.

Forever they shall be cursed even as grandmothers and grandfathers watched young boys be brutally beaten and killed!

  133. AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU WHO ARE SUPPORTING THIS FORM OF REVENGE OR ANY FORM OF REVENGE AT ALL ARE ALL WHAT IS WRONG WITH NIGERIA TODAY AND YOU ARE WHY THOSE PEOPLE TOOK THE LAW TO THEIR OWN HANDS. HOW DOES THIS BRING BACK THOSE POOR DARLINGS WE LOST? HOW DOES IT MAKE ANY SENSE. THESE PROTESTERS WILL ALSO END UP KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HEINOUS CRIME. NIGERIANS ARE FULL OF EVIL AND HATRED. I AM STUNNED THAT ANY OF YOU WOULD SUPPORT THIS MADNESS. I AM HURT, ANGRY, SAD AND HEART SHATTERED THEY KILLED THOSE YOUNG MEN BUT BEING DESTRUCTIVE AND BECOMING MURDERES IS NOT WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING AT THIS TIME. IT MAKES US NO DIFFRENT THAN THE KILLERS

    ReplyDelete
  134. most people condemned the jungle justice but support this hooliganism? what is wrong with this picture. what is wrong with Nigerians? are they normal.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I know we are all hurt, I know we are all angry but can we please look at this from a spiritual stand point. The devil is laughing, having a laugh because it is getting Nigeria to a point where we have become heartless, hateful, lovers of money, revengeful. How will anyone celebrate all this destruction. I was angry for like 3days and probably would have supported this event yesterday but we need to be careful. The anger is what the devil is using to win more souls to him. The village of Alluu was cursed the second one of those boys breathe his last breath. We do not need to also fall into sin because we are angry. Please be spiritual and watch and pray

  141. The killing of d four students @aluu by some
barbarians, shows man's inhumanity to his fellow
man. Wateva their crime was, dey shudnt have beaten
and eventually lynched them. Are we potraying jungle
justice or wat? He without sin should cast d first
stone. In dat crowd, there were fornicators, thieves,
idolators, etc. Wateva d authority does, the boys won't
be brought back. We leave dem to God to be d judge.
Where was d nigerian police wen dis whole saga was
going on. We know u to come wen everything is over
so, can't u guys surprise us for once??. RIP lloyd, chidiaka, tekenna and ugonna. I weep for

  142. Good job Linda on your being up to date with info.I'm one of your fans, Akudo from the States. You're indeed a hard walking Igbo girl. It's so sad that Nigeria lost 4 promising young men to the hands of some evil villagers. May their souls rest in peace.

  143. @11:13pm: If you are from Aluu and one of the perpetrators of this dastardly act, this is just the beginning of more hard things to come. The University students only protested how unhappy they are but i am telling you that the pain to be unleashed on the Aluu community from God will leave you utterly speechless. Even if they were stubborn children, did they deserve to die? The kids didn't even steal anything and they died in such a painful way. How perfect are you?It is so sad that when you die, there will be no one to say anything good about you, no one. I am sure you are one of those beefing that people are calling those boys fine boys. So sad they had to be the sacrificial lambs to expose that community and the amount of decadence in this country. Lets always pray never to be at the wrong place and the wrong time.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Why must Nigerians reason like this? Shey na the way forward be this? No sense whatsoever in this action
An eye for an eye makes the world go blind.

  145. Please do not waste your breath cursing the Aluu people uncle, Innocent people won't suffer for what a few blood thirsty idiots did, leave them to God to judge individually, trust me,that is worse.
    RIP.

  146. I really don't understand what is going on. Is the solution to this really to burn the houses of people? How does this end the wickedness? Paying a wicked act with wickedness? These students also deserve to be arrested.

  152. Linda while I totally condemn what happened to this boys, I also Totally condemn promoting violence by the students and I STRONGLY THINK U SHOULDN'T encourage it either. two wrongs dont ever make it right. Are we saying we should kill some more or cause more havoc because injustice was done. I would support n campaign actively against all the murderers of dis boys but I wud equally do same against an unruly pose by students. No apologies

    ReplyDelete
  153. Another jungle justice.......where are those #"twats" (security forces)? I do not see any good in this sort of justice.
