The annoying thing is that you believe men of God are not to be judged but i'm certain you judge ppl that are not men of God when in fact the bible says judge not so you won't be judged. Next time you are about to judge a criminal or a prostitute remember that statement "ye without sin cast the first stone" it was Jesus's way of telling us not to judge anyone at all. In my defence, I am very accommodating and I embrace anyone I meet don't care wat they do or used to do bcos i'm not perfect (and I am not being self righteous either). Please don't misunderstand my reply as all i'm trying to say is, in the same light you see these Pastors as sacred enuf not to be judged, see also ur regular neighbour as one who isn't to be judged whatsoever.

      Delete
    2. justice for aluu4.8 October 2012 at 02:52

If you must caution oh please do it with love as i'm sure God did not send brim stone and hot sulphur from heaven when saul was prosecuting Christians instead he arrested him and made him convert souls. I never knew I could doubt the existence of God himself until something I prayed, fasted and kept myself chaste for did not come to past and then the devil ceased that opportunity to make me.look back on many unanswered prayers and events which actually made me doubt there is a God for 2 weeks until last nyt when I was soooo drowned in my thinking that something told me to google how to get through hard times with bible verses and I just broke down crying even more because I realised I had born so much burden where I was just being mad at God to the extent of doubting his existence when he has given me every promise for what will be the end product of my hardtimes if only I do MOT lean on my own understanding.. Don't ever pray that kind prayer for anyone who doubts God or Jesus exists bcos u have no idea the gravity of what they have had to go through that prompted such doubt. Only ask for God to bless them and make them see why he is a living God.

Instead of them to help them out by empowering em with jobs and all sorts. They'll rather pray for em and tell them to bring offering out of the little or no money they have.

Jesus feed 5,000 people with 2 Fishes & 5 Loaves of bread, people that claim to be Men of God in this generation are more interested in material things. When they are supposed to be Christ like.

People should stop using "Thou Shall Not Judge The Man Of God", it is wrong to judge anybody in the first place. So let's not be selective in our judgment, if you want to judge don't be selective. And if you don't want to judge then don't judge anybody at all.

ITS SAD THAT WE CHRISTIANS KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THESE THINGS BUT AS CHRISTIANS OUR RELIGION TEACHES US NOT TO JUDGE ANYBODY AND LET GOD BE THE JUDGE OF ALL MEN.

Well I don't care how much they rake in, all I wish is that once a church's income starts running into millions, they should start paying tax. Cos then they are failing to give back to their community denying ceaser what belongs to him. With all these floods going on and ppl dying from poverty, they preach vanity and not storing up treasures on earth, yet they see these ills and do nuffing instead build expensive schools neglecting all the 5 and 10 nairas that made them reach. I am not even judging, I am stating the obvious which ppl will not say cause they wanna believe they are sacred but I am thankful because my bible tells me that I shouldn't be deceived, that God isn't mocked evidenced ïn how He dealt with Hophini n Phineas.

  43. When God said 'touch not my anointed' he meant all of us. Its not a segregated set of beings. God's 'real' prophets were chosen and ordained by him.prophets like elijah, moses, david, abraham etc were chosen by God himself. The rest of us are anointed men of God. Its not by standing on a podium. Looking at it clearly, the days of missionaries like mother theresa and co who slept in a room without fan here in africa so others cld have access to it are long gone. Religion has become an avenue for amassing wealth. Truly we can't judge man but aint notn wrong with critisizing or sayn d truth.

Shame on all of us!!!

  45. Linda, I have gone through all the comments on this issue and i find it really funny.

Let me start by declaring openly that I AM A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN that is convinced that the current crop of ministers have deviated from the teachings of God.

Secondly, i find it really funny when people base their ignorance on the bible statement 'Touch not my anointed' they fail to forget 'And the Lord God directed his prophet to anoint David, whilst Saul was still King of Isreal.' In that singular action, God has demonstrated that his anointing can and did depart from the house of Saul whilst Saul was still basking in the euphoria associated with the anointing.

Back to the preacher, The calling of God on his men was clear as possible, 'I will make the fishers of men, If a man do love me, let him forsake the world and follow me' never have i seen where it is written in the bible that a believer should live in opulence, while some people in your congregation can barely break bread. Where is the humility of Jesus in these men, Jesus washed the feet of a known Woman of easy virtue, These crop of Christian leaders strike me more like power drunk versions of Napoleon Bonaparte.

You walk a fine line when you run a church & run businesses, you've to go out of your way to make sure the lines don't get blurred between the two. There have been countless cases of individuals that have used their position as a religious leader for their own personal enrichment.

  65. I concur with Tee Mac...... "prophets" who were called by God, do not make a profit by spreading his word.
These Bishop and Overseer so and so are not men of God.
This Sunday, I was in church and there was a visiting Reverend, so large banquet hall was rented to accomodate us all. The "man of God", in his parting said that we should buy his books, which would bless us and if we make purchases "less than $100 (Canadian)", he will not bless us because he is "not cheap", and he went on to state that he is is "a nice accommodation and certain perks has been reserved" for him and we should donate a "$500 or $1000 (Canadian)" if we can.
Whilst in the congregation are students and immigrants who are struggling to make ends meet.
I have made the decision to not give any money to church again, because I have yet to see the charity work they are doing. Although they are exempted and given tax breaks because they are under the charity tax bracket. Until you feed and cloth the poor, I am not donating my money. I am not donating money to full the coiffures of "hardworking" bishops and pastors and their insatiable need for material things.

Thank you Linda.....I like your post as of late, it provides food for thought......cheers

  73. I don'T think i have a lot of comments too write. I am a Christian and i believe everyone has a right to their opinions so I am not going to pick on any comment has been right or wrong.
My belief about the offerings and tithe i drop in churches is that it has nothing to do with the church But my contribution to the development of the work of God. What i do,what i give and how i give it is strictly between myself n God.
I think the reason why Nigerians complain about pastors is that "we don carry the get rich mentality enter God". Paying your tithe and receive 1000 fold , so people rush to pay tithe forgetting the actual basis of tithing or giving offering. He needs your heart first and not your money.
Once you have fulfilled this criterion, then you will see giving becomes easy and you no longer bother yourself with what is daily awashed in the news or blogspot. Also it wont matter to you what anybody do with what u ve dropped because the most important thing to you is that "God commanded it, you are doing it and surely there will be an harvest.

He himself is he God? What is his own affiliation. God is judge, and will judge him as well. Life isnt always what we see or think.

The problem is many people dont know God. They know of Him but dont really know Him. Your life can never be the same after the veil is removed. Constant promotion, we have to be real honest with ourselves, many people who go to Church, still serve 2 masters, and arent completely honest with themselves, with 1 leg in church and the other leg in the world. Been there, done that, you cant fool God.

With that said, I have always said and will never stop saying: Nigerians are the most gullible people on planet earth. Imagine poor people go to church and give away their last "change" to these pastors who turn around and flaunt their so called wealth to these poor people. How did these pastors go from pverty and mediocrity to become billionaires? Nigerians shine una eyes and use your brains. It is simple logic. These guys are using your money to build mansions, buy private jets, build houses abroad, build business empires and even keep concubines. Yes o. I said it concubines. These men love women pass anything (the ones yet to use their private parts for "miracle jazz").

I realized how callous these pastors could be when one pastor C flew out in his helicopter after a revival on Lagos Ibadan expressway. In about 15 minutes he was home while his so called flock spent the whole day in the bloody traffic that was caused by the revival!

All of you saying "papa" this, "papa" that and the ones that will insult me, back to sender. These pastors are all crooks who got into this church business to make money because they know that there are willing customers in Nigerians.

Why has he posted his son to head the church in the US? I'm not really sure about that tho, but why not head a church in Igboora in Oyo state. I once read an interview that he gave, and he said that he refused to give his family member money because they are Muslims and that when they turn xtians then he will consider them. 100. This is my problem with my so called "christian brothers/sisters", a person writes a comment dat he doesn't knw if Jesus exists so he doesn't add Jesus in his prayer anymore.(This shows he used to believe) Isn't dis an opportunity to evangelise? Why r u pple being so harsh n insulting? Do eva apply d WWJD(wot will Jesus do?)Principle to every situation? D truth is most christians r hypocrites! They knw abt Jesus but they don't knw Him nor d bible! Ok assuming an unbeliever reads ur "christian" replies, will dat make christianity attractive? Most of us v horrible xters n carry bible everywhere yet we get offended wen pple badmouth our religion, isn't it bcos of our bad behaviour? If not dat I was born in2 a christian home n I v had enof encouters to knw Jesus is real, some of una fit make person backslide! If we talk honestly abt premarital sex or some other circular topic, d torrent of religious judgment will be overwhelming but see a situation n an opportunity to save a soul 4 christ, instead of evangelise una dey stroke am! Look d Jesus I serve is a gentle n awesome God, he isn't forceful neither does he need mere humans to defend his sovereignty so stop ur voltronic moves n use dat energy to preach to AJ Sherif. As 4 Bishop Oyedepo n other men of God, they r God's children n accountable to God, Judgment is His.

My issue is not what any man (not to talk of a man of God) should o should not have, but since we are using the bible as defense here, then pls what is the first principal Christianity teaches us? Is I not love? What was it Jesus said... What so ever u do to the least of my brothers that u do unto me... (No its not just a song it's actually in the bible Matthew 25: 35-40). So what am I saying, how can one we call ourselves Christians, we enjoy riches of the world while our neighbor can barely make 3 square meals, what makes us different from people of this world? Nigerians pls let's stop living in fear of this flesh ... He was on a mission not to come to earth to lead a normal life. There is nothing wrong with abundant wealth n christianity, it only becomes a problem when wealth becomes a distraction from our faith. From Genesis-Revelation silver and gold were mentioned about 783times. Haggai 2:8 says silver and gold belongs to the Lord(riches). Prov 10:22- the blessings of d lord maketh rich and adds no sorrow to it. There are a plethora of bible verses in support of wealth. Most of these men of God do a lot of charity. They give a lot to the poor, build orphanages, old peoples' homes, they award scholarships n other financial assistance. No matter how much a pastor gives there will always be the poor around us. The problem with most of these needy people is laziness! They prefer hand-outs. They shy away from employment, they rather v people toss them peanuts every now and then, their mentality keeps dem enslaved,it's really sad. Some members also sow very expensive gifts n loads of cash into the lives of these men of God so not all expenses come 4rm church coffers. Jesus led a humble life bcos of his mission on earth yet wen he was on the cross the Roman soldiers cast lot for His robe(it was a very expensive fabric). We all should be weary of how we tear each other down with verbal axes more caution is required when we talk about men of God.

  128. its a shame dat pple are being blind to the truth.... i will not talk abt the man of God,a good thing we all have conscience which is the greatest judge. a jet each for him and he's two sons who are equally pastors borders on waste and beiong insensitive to the socio-economic issues in our country, a jet can be of use not only by the G.O, but also every pastor with the need to travel for the good of evangelism. having one each for his sons honestly i dont tink its penny wise with the financial situation in Nigeria... if only those saying T mac shld shut up realise the amount spent on maintanance for a year for one jet, talkless of two, kai make we try fear God oooo.... the money being used for maintanance alone can change the life of over 50 widows, can empower the youths and make them stand on their feet... Only God knows who his pple are... make no mistake,i do beleive in the Bishops calling..... on good authority i knw that God promised him wealth wen he was called n wen he started way back in Kaduna in those days, but i feel like Christ, one shld be have human feelings for the plight of others, and also those who can affoprd it shld be able to atleast affect the lives of those around them. wen Mary sought Jesus the Christ at the wedding, it wasnt time for him to start his miraculus works, but out of the goodness of his heart and love for man, he understood the essence of merriment at the wedding, jus so the meriment and jor jor cld continue, he made the impossible possible.. turning water into wine. His first miracle says alot about tyhe fruit a christian shld bear... the ability to be thoughtful of the next person,Jesus the Christ didnt necessarily have to partake in the wine drinking and merriment at the wedding, but it didnt stop him from providing it for the guests....he displayed a Love dat doesnt condemn or discriminate, i beleive we all are familiar with this story and intelligent enough to build on my point here. may the good alaord continue to empower the Bishop and lead him, aright.
