St Rita Catholic Church bomb blast: A message from Pres. Jonathan

The bomb blast at St Rita Catholic Church in Kaduna today killed at least 8 people and injured over 100. A suicide bomber drove a Honda CRV packed with explosives into the church building at about 8.45am while worshippers gathered for the Sunday service. Below is a message from our president through his media spokesman, Reban Abati

Mr President has got to stop condemning these killings and find ways to stop it!

    1. Haian; why call a man and president of our country useless? that's Not only unfair but also shows you are myopic. Granted things are not going the way they should (which is the whole idea) unlike the Niger Delta who where confined to a few states, Boko Haram are almost in the 19 states in the north. communities where they live are too scared to identify them for fear of elimination of them and their family, how do you fight someone who obviously does not value his own life talk less of others? We are all frustrated, but don't forget that is what the Hausa man wants. Pray for Jona, if you have any contribution or effective strategy, bring it on....all of God's creation all useful because they were created for a purpose.Peace!!!!

  27. Linda be running that your clueless mouth there. They have several teams in place to try as much as possible to curb these animals. Unfortunately Nigeria has been robbed blind prior to Mr President taking office and all the measures that needed to have been in place were not. Aside from that, acts of terrorism are not part of what we dealt with in the past. This is very new to us so im sure they are working as hard as they can to reduce it cos I doubt we can stop these evil minded people. I however expect more of their leaders to be exposed, revealed and prosecuted..enough is enough.

  101. Boko haram members are not true muslims and its obvious that this is politically motivated not religious. Nigerians are always quick to attack other pple's beliefs that's why its so easy to believe that its religious. These attacks are master minded by pple who want this administration to fail and buttress their point that the south south has nothing to offer. Its just a shame that Goodluck sold his soul, hence making it difficult for him to fish out the perpetrators. All those saying its a muslim thing, are just saying things you don't know of. I'm a muslim and lived briefly in the north at the beginning of boko haram attacks and I can tell you that no one is spared. The muslims in the north are jst as scared as the non muslims. I still communicate with my friends over there and believe the fear is real even amongst the muslims. Do you tink they condone it? Every one is scared to do any thing. These are a bunch of animals who care about no one. Do you how many mosques are burnt? Its funny that those never get media coverage 'cos' it won't help in creating a divide. Why weren't they cases of these bombings when Obj was president? Wasn't he also a christian and southerner? This is just plain evil and insha Allah all those involved will be exposed very soon. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace and may the injured be granted quick recovery. Ameen. 105. I'm highly irritated by the goings-on in my country! A country with so much potential but still struggling with multi-dimensional challenges. Insecurity makes it hard for us to attract the level of foreign direct investment that our nation needs to tackle the high rate of unemployment, yet the extremists are so dumb that they can't see that! They delight in blowing up more places of worship while taken their own lives in the process. Illiteracy has blurred their capacity to reason as sane human beings. If not, how could anyone convince anyone to take his own life for a stupid cause and he agrees! That's why the bombings are difficult to check. How do you check a guy who's ready to sacrifice his life anyway? Such a person doesn't give a hoot what plans you have to curtail his excesses. He's willing to die anyway. That, however is no reason for our government to fold it's arms and watch as innocent souls are lost almost every Sunday. A good and proactive government would tackle these terrorist acts by activating it's intelligence gathering mechanisms to ensure that such plans are nipped in the bud. I hate when the President sounds like a cracked or skipping compact disc by saying he condemns the violence. It's nauseating to keep hearing that. No wonder Lagos based rapper, TERRY THA RAPMAN criticized the perpetual condemnation of violence in Nigeria by government in OLAMIDE's song branded BOY'S ARE NOT SMILING! Nigerians are sick and tired of government's continuous condemnation while the people are dying. Those at the helm of affairs should simply resign if they can't provide security for the populace. Governance is not for lilly-livered lots! Nuff said!

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's pointless venting ones anger, the only solution is to ensure we protect ourselves and family cos from the look of things, the govt is incapable of protecting us. And come 2015, we must be careful of whom we vote in and we need to vote out these spineless, incapable, careless persons who are only after getting their share of our national wealth.

  115. When somebody was born shoeless, of course he will remain forever clueless.
    What do ya all expect.
Any Nigerian that expect any tangible thing being done by this 'born-shoeless' is expecting more than a miracle.
Who even awarded this YOUR president a PHD?
When a terrible thing happen, he is either setting up committess or issuing out worthless statements.
Instead of cutting off the head of the snake , he is busy dealing with the tail of the snake thereby running the risk of being bitten by the snake.
If i am in charge by now Buhari and his cohorts will be in crates of cement or on the run from being hit. Man only die but once. GEJ is a very stubborn, weak and indecisive president. He will forever remain a failure.

  117. Military action alone can not defeat the Islamic militants. The carrot and stick approach is the best way. These are people have been brainwashed with the belief they are going to paradise, with 70 virgins as reward if they die. Small wonder they are willing to embark on suicide mission.

  118. I think the best way to minimize this violence in the northern states of kaduna, and plateau and some other northern states is to divide the states. I say this because i am from kaduna and i dont see how we could live with these ppl with all this violence whether boko haram or not. I notice that most ppl that are not from the north are advising christians to live the north, but for some of us, kaduna is home because we are from here and have no other place to call home.so the best solution is to divide the state so that this muslims can have their state and we also. Apart from the boko haram issue, we are always at war with them(muslims) either because we have different faith or we do not want to adopt their laws on our lands. So Jonathan pls stop all this i am saddened and do the right thing. I say divide the states so we can govern ourselves and minimize this violence .

  120. GEJ would never change, what do you expect from an incompetent man? How many times would this keep on re-occuring? And to Boko Haram, continue making the lives of christians a living hell over there ok? but everything has its time, I pity the lives of your 'kind' over here the day you guys make the mistake of trying such here in my homeland-Benue State to be precise.

  121. I miss Obasanjo.... If that man was our president at this time, things wouldn't have degenerated 2 dis level.... He would have found a way 2 nip dis BH palava in d bud... Jonathan is spineless, I'm sure he's not clueless, he knows exactly what to do but he can't bcos of his dubious allegiance...
Obasanjo can never be taken for granted like this.. Nigeria needs someone like that in this our fragile state of democracy and not Mr goody-two-shoes Jonathan...
I get so upset when I think about the situation of my beloved country, it drives me to tears... Lord please intervene!!!
