River State Governor acquires $45 million Bombardier jet

This one no be story story o, the River State commissioner for information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, has confirmed the purchase. The state bought a brand new $45million Bombardier Global 5000 (N565RS) jet for Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

According to the commissioner, the jet was paid for two years ago, and they bought it for 'safety reasons'. She said the governor consulted the Rivers state House of Assembly and they approved the purchase.

With the terrible state roads in port harcourt(woji, elioparanwho, iwofe, ada george, etc) in the past 3years, the river state govt still collects tax from people living in these areas even though they have not delivered on the roads they started. Congratulations sir. Just shows how wicked this man is.

There are lots of major roads in portharcourt full of pot holes , thousands of people are living as butchers in d state capital , cost of living is increasing daily in portharcourt and yet the state government showed no concern about the masses. 17. Pls what is a state government in a country as undeveloped as nigeria doing with a 45 million dollar jet? What kind of wicked leaders do we parade in this country? Has Chibuike Amaechi built all the roads in rivers state? How many hospitals has he built? How many people in rivers state can access clean water? How many people eat three times in a day in rivers state, what about good education and shelter? This was one of the governors that could not pay the new minimon wedge of just 18000 naira. With the level of poverty in Nigeria, what will a state government be doing with a private jet let alone a jet as expensive as this? Our leaders are so wicked, inhuman and heartless. I won't be surprised if he (Amaechi) later buys the jet from the state government for 10 million naira

  40. NYC-1 says: "Bought for safety reasons" "... and the old one will be sold?" What a bunch of malarkey! Most politicians in Nigeria are despicable and criminal minded. A poser to Amaechi: Relative to measurement of socio-economic advancement of your people, what is your input? It beats my imagination that amid great suffering and despair in the polity, some who find themselves in power lack brotherly love. Now I believe that some people no longer have conscience, because if they do, it will prick them. Just wondering; don't these politicians have pastors/Imams who could preach to them to refrain from self indulgences?

  43. Dear Linda, and fellow readers, I have been saying it on this blog, and in any forum I get the opportunity to; Amaechi and his goons in this state are just wasting our money and doing whatever they like, completely forgetting the primary reason why they are in the positions they occupy.
At this time when majority of the state's populace wallow in abject poverty, with bad roads, no electricity, armed robbery attacks everywhere, and kidnapping; Amaechi feels the most important thing for the state is a private jet. How out-of-tune can a governor be?
This government has failed us so much, if you look at all their plans, it just goes to show they are not interested in the people they govern. First, its the monorail project...15 Billion naira to construct only 6km of monorail in an area that does not even need additional transportation options (when most areas of the state have completely degenerated roads); then its the cover-up called 'Greater Port Harcourt', which is just a travel agency for all Amaechi's personal friends to travel the world, in the guise of going-to-study-developed-cities, meanwhile the governor confiscates choice land areas in the state for personal gain; also in education, he preaches giant strides, while ensuring RSUST in reduced to nothing through one controversy or another, and in the case of Uniport killings, he doesn't even consider that an issue to be addressed. All round, this government has really failed her people.
To be frank, Amaechi was elected by the people, with great potentials and every tool in his hands to do a great job and return this state to its lost glory; and indeed he teed off nicely, but along the line, he completely and totally lost it. Seems in the same way as Odili, the money and power got the better of him. And then this title 'Governor's forum Chairman' came and took what was left of Amaechi from us. Now we have an absentee governor, one who believes his primary assignment is to lead the other governors, and ruling Rivers State is just a part time job. Now Amaechi rolls with the big boys in Abuja, instead of our good for nothing state. To help him in his travels, he ofcos needs a new jet, and a new jet he gets...not minded that it sets the state back by 'only' usd45million, (an amount that if invested in the state will ensure roads, electricity, security, etc are brought to a better standard.
I was in Lagos a few days ago, and got into an argument with a friend who lives there, when I hailed Fashola for some projects he had done (especially road construction and rehabilitation - around Yaba area, and Lekki expressway, and ofcos the bridge from Lekki 1 to Ikoyi); but my friend condemned Fashola and said he thinks Amaechi is better. There you go...the power of propaganda...that is what Amaechi is bent on doing, making people believe he is working by using Rivers money to spread wrong info to others. Amaechi, in your quest for Vice presidency position...I have just a few words for you - Just like Odili failed, history will repeat itself again...and YOU WILL FAIL, and then you will become an outcast in your own state, again like Odili, and when your name is mentioned, it will always be in negative jist about misfortunes of Rivers State. But unlike Odili, you still have a chance to do good, please act right!

Woji, Eleme, Iwofe roads in particular are bad and the oil companies have payed the communities to fix these roads and they refused!!!

The PortHarcourt 1st son, has done excellently well in the education and health sectors, those who live there can attest to this.

Rotimi Amaechi has decided that the host communities with the affected roads will bear the brunt of their actions.

It is well with Rivers State. Sometimes the citizens (especially in this case are to blame).
    Thanks

The roads are bad, bridges are collapsing. It isn't news anymore that politicians in Nigeria only seek a 2nd term in order to enrich their purses. Amaechi has done nothing since his reelection. Citizens can only murmur or grumble to a governor they see, our governor is always in Abuja.

Gợ̣̣̝̇̇̇ợ̣̣̝̇̇̇Ԃ day LIB readers and also LINDA, I hav read all ur comments as regards my purchasing a jet 4 security reasons. I noticed most of U̶̲̥̅̊ were hinting on construction of roads and health care. Plz note dat all those roads U̶̲̥̅̊ were talking abt like Iwofe, Ada George, Eleme, Trans-amadi, uniport roads were awarded to various constructed companies and there is a deadline 4 completion and if these companies dnt complete it, there will be serious effects. I only want U̶̲̥̅̊ 2 knw dat its not easy 2 be a governor and I can't be evrywhere in rivers state dats y I hav commisioners, special assistants e.t.c. There was a time I spoke 2 wazobia FM as regards some issues in d state and I told them dat corruption is not meant 4 govt 2 fight alone but every stakeholder. Instead of criticising d govt, let's all join hands and make Rivers state a great state. Thanks. Gov. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.

Just a couple of times,so is this worthy of wasting such a huge amount on? Don't be surprise that this jet goes missing after his dispensation because he would just sell it off and keep the money. Well,na your time, enjoy!!
