The accident occurred around the Delta axis while Mohammed was on his way back to Abuja. He had told his driver to drive along while he rode on his power bike. Unfortunately he fell from his bike and was crushed by two oncoming cars. He died instantly and has since been buried. May he RIP!

DeleteHaba Linda dis ur story no get head oh! well my boyfriend was also among the bikers dat went for bikers convention in uyo( 29th-30th of sept precisely), that morning they greeted very well and hez referred to as Mr D. Mr D was riding fully kitted wen a trailer crushed him and anoda vehicle from the oda syd of d road dragged him into the bush. He neva made it to the hospital. He died on the spot and all his body was crushed. The remains of his body was taken by a chattered plane back to his hometown in Kano. The most painful partis His wife and father warned him about this trip. Me i have told my boyfriend dat he will not ride dis rubbish thing called power bike again. Its such a very risky and dangerous thing they take as fun considering the fact that he once had a crash early in the year but thank God for mercies!!!!!!!! Linda U are my birthday mate so U MUST POST MY COMMENT OH!!!!! thanks pweety.

Can't go into details but to say may his soul rest in peace and I hope his father will bring this topic up with his people because if the road in Nigeria was good the car won't go on the wrong lane which led to D's death.

You start buying things like power bike and you tend to get into dangerous sports like falling out of airplanes because you can afford it. It is a serious issue among the rich and it needs to be highlighted. Last time it was Tonye Wilcox. Now this Dalhatu guy. He would hav been one of the richest guys of his age in Nigeria yet he was the most humble and likeable guy u could ever meet. He died doing what he loved and nobody has the right to judge him on that. Cause of death "A careless driver like some of those commenting who pay 5k for their license without going through proper procedures" If any of you has obtained his/her driving license without going through the laid down FRSC guidelines, you have all contributed to his death, and you are no different from the citizens of ALUU community..
For those who talk about how dangerous riding is.. Ask yourself how many have died driving this year in bus accidents, danfo's, and other car accidents, and let's not talk about airline crashes over the years where no formal report has been released to date. in other countries there would be documentaries step by step on what caused the airline crashes..
Think about this, if it was a family of four in a car approaching instead of 1 man on a bike, that careless driver would have ended the life of 4 promising Nigerians as well, this news is sensational because his father is a popular Nigerian and he was riding a bike period

Ride to Live, Live to Ride
I was on that trip to Uyo. I went to the convention in Port Harcourt in 2010 and the one in Ibadan last year and will go by God's grace to the one we hold next year wherever it is held.
ReplyDeleteMore folks die in cars everyday than do on Bikes ( power bikes as you refer to them ) yet i have not heard of anyone giving up driving or junking their cars for that reason.
People die in plane crashes but others will continue to fly. Nigerian roads are unsafe period, whether you drive,ride or walk and i personally will not stop riding on that account. I as a matter of fact have a morbid fear of flying and would rather ride my bike to any destination than fly.
May Mr D's soul rest in perfect peace and i pray his family finds the strength to go on.
Please do not castigate anyone for what hobbies they cherish. We will all die from something or the other

Which says he did not go out that day with a death wish. I agree that power biking is an extreme and dangerous hobby,like so many other hobbies we humans choose to engage ourselves in. No one knows when or how any of us will pass(rich or poor,young or old,oppressor or oppressed). All we need do is pray that it is instant and painless. It was Mohammed's time to go..... May His soul Rest In Peace. My heart also goes out to the families of the Mubi 40 and that of the ALUU 4. Hope we all dwell joyfully in the heaven someday

ReplyDeleteI agree that we can all have a passion for something or be free to choose our hobbies but certain hobbies are simply not practical in Nigeria due to the deplorable state of the nation. For example, if we had emergency services with helicopter airlift to specialty hospitals all over the country many wld not die,if we had a several lanes of pristine condition ashphalt roads going in either direction drivers may be less inclined to driving onto oncoming traffic in order to overtake! Our major highways are worse than small city streets in other civilised countries. Its sad and may his soul rest in peace, many of my friends were also his friends BUT I must state clearly that power bike riding is a very dangerous hobby even in civilised societies (they're called organ donors by american police, u can google it) WHICH means that the danger is multiplied by 1 million when pursuing that habit in Nigeria where there's no 911 or any kind of real help in the event of an emergency. His was probably some minutes at best, imagine that 4 boys were brutally murdered over the span of 3 hrs and still no help could intervene..May God help us.

I ride all over Nigeria and feel safer on my touring bike than sandwiched into a crappy bus whose driver is high on alomo and breaks all the traffic rules he can in a day. 200-300 bikers attended this convention in Uyo from as far away as Gombe, and we had one fatality due to an errant bus driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road/maneuvering carelessly. Some of the comments remind me of a chap in PH who was talking about a 6 nation west africa tour that took place in 2009, sitting next to me in a beer hangout in PH, talking rubbish, and I held my tongue to hear his rubbish, only later did my brother who was with us tell him that I was one of the 11 that went on that tour. Yet the guy was telling tales about something he was not in any way part of. So closely guard your retarded comments just like you would retarded children, and let forth only the brightest and best when commenting about issues, especially those you know little about... among the riders in Nigeria are mechanics, "ordinary" workers, traders, photographers, pilots, businessmen and yes very prosperous people as well, don't keep commenting on us as if we are all "millionaires" with money to burn! ReplyDeleteI was a power biker in the early 90's as a student of Unilag then, in my 40's now and living in the UK I think I can advise on this.The issue is not the bike or Biker but the Nigerian mentality of RECLESS DRIVING AND TOTAL DISREGARD OF THE LAW, the bike is fast and can come from behind past in a second , but this becomes a problem in a country like Nigerian where most cars don't even have mirrors , or when they do ppl are not trained to use those mirrows correctly..... I dont bike any more , but bikers are a special breed and from one to the other I wish the brother a peacefull rest.......

It’s my passion, it’s one of my hobbies and also my vice!
I do all other kinds of sports, as it’s my own form of recreation!
What recreation do we have in this country, other than beer parlors, night clubs, visiting the mall or outlandish social (lagbo, lagbo) parties, attended by all, as their form of recreation?
I have attended all the bikers conventions across Nigeria, biked across the country and also most of the West African states, have friends who have gone “to and fro” to Europe and back, on their bikes, as a form of their own recreation and yet a number term same, as having a suicidal lifestyle.
We would all die someday and somehow!
When it comes, let us be remembered for the legacy’s left behind and not given additional pain by the kind of comments being posted, which makes a fool of all what Mr.D was all about!

You would be missed by your club (09-ers), those of us that met you at the Uyo convention and the Association of Nigerian Motorcycling Clubs (ANMC).
As a biker, it is sad to see a fellow biker go out this way, however, many readers of this blog are ignorant about a whole lot of things, riding included. The natural end of life is death and surely this will come in different ways, the very element, water, air, earth & fire can destroy. We need to find a way to live life to the fullest and for some of us its by riding. I could not make the bikers convention this year due to some other engagements, but I was at the last one and by HIS grace will be at the next one. What we all need is the grace and favour from above to live and be fulfilled.
