6million people without power, 13 dead as Superstorm Sandy sweeps through the US

America has never seen a storm like this. Over $15 billion in damages. At least 13 people killed. Homes destroyed. High-rise apartment buildings now islands. 6.5 million people in 13 states without power. Major airports in Northeast closed. Federal government offices closed. Three feet of heavy snow like concrete, storm surge 14 feet high, buildings on fire, transport in chaos. Mass transit system, schools, stock exchange, all shut down as Super Storm Sandy wrecks havoc in the US.

The New York City subway system which is 108 years old has never faced a disaster as devastating as what was experienced last night. Atlantic City in New Jersey has become an extension of the Atlantic Ocean as water pressed into the city from three sides, flooding rail yards, subway tracks, tunnels and roads. See photos after the cut...

Anyway Here in Naija, 'Hurricane Bad Government' has wrecked more havoc. BH & militants killing people & bombing buildings, flood killing & destroying properties due to poor drainage, poorly founded buildings collapsing, 150million people without power in 36 states, Govt in feud with airports/airlines, aviation industry totally phucked, mass transit, schools, businesses, hospitals & FG offices only gets shut down by strike actions, corruption & graduate unemployment growing at a shocking rate, as Hurricane Bad Government sweeps through Nigeria...

  37. It amazes me when these people foretells what is going to happen ahead, Oh well It's not a surprise to me anymore, some would say "I'm not moving to anywhere" after they've been admonished not to stay away from that city for the main time.. This is just the message to every Nigerian youths that no matter where you go to in the world, there is always problem in one way or the other. I told my friends living in US, that's why i love NIGERIA despite they fact that everything is no 100% ok. And those who are gone as the result of the Hurricane Sandy I pray that they rest in God's perfect peace.

  38. Am tired of people saying end time is near and that God is punishing America for their sins, Please shut up' people seriously, do you honestly think that God would kill innocent people just cause some bad ones are around? Things like this happens its not the first time and its not gonna be the last, hopefully as technology grows we would find ways of protecting people without anyone dying when Natural disaster occurs, just cause you are somewhere safe in your house doesn't mean you have right to open your mouth and start concluding for God that the word is coming to an end that's why he is killing people, he is not wicked or heartless like Boko haram. Cheers

  41. This is a sign that God is not happy with the Americans. They think they're num 1 in the world and are untouchable.for that, they can go to other people's country and start war. Once they're interested in a country's endowment& the leader of such country doesn't accept their proposal, they find a way to cause conflict within tht country& they fund, supply ammunitions to the rebels to fight whilst the sit back and watch. I am sad about this disaster but God has a way of fighting for other countries. U can imagine them shutting down two big chinese companies in USA just cos they're threatened tht china will soon catch up with thm. And I am appalled by Obama supporting gay marriage just cos of his "ambition". Why won't God be angry when tht was what made him destroy Sodom&Gomorrah. Or they think God is not real?
Ps: why are some people dying? Dint they get the warning? And Linda why do you take forever to upload comments or you prefer us looking at just pictures?

Come to think of it i read that 13 people died from the incident(may their souls rip)..... 57. Bullshyt with all these end time talk abeg. . The world has been experiencing natural disasters since time memorial, all those religious mongers attributing it to signs of an end or some God being angry with humans are delusional and paranoid. Come another century, more will come, remember china and Japan's mammoth natural disaster as well.
At least, the people of these countries are practical in their approach and do not blame the government for inevitable disasters like we do in Nigeria where people lose their girlfriends, fail in their marriages and in life and blame Jonathan for it. Disasters happen, they are normal life phenomenon that happen, they can neither be prevented nor controlled, they come when they want to come, all we as humans can do is prepare for it both before and after it has wrecked its havoc. At least, we sef don dey see as e be too abi?

  58. its funny but we had our own flood disaster recently in some states ie Delta,Baylesa, kogi etc were lives was lost so Nigeria is not immunued from it(calling it flood Ngozi,Efe etc) only we dont make a big deal out of it cos we got so many issues to be dwelling too much on one,in a country were the government of the day is without focus.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Many people lost electricity here. But all is well. If this happened in Nigeria many people would have died. The US government evacuated the dangerous areas and put people in hotels or shelters to stay to be safe. It was the stubborn people that didn't want to leave their homes that died. America is Great

  60. The storm is a storm. Not a hurricane. There.have been worse in US history. Most casualties were from people not heeding the warnings. Did you all forget Katrina, Ike, this were all hurricanes. Survivors will be fine. The infrastructure, insurance policies and disaster plans in the US are.second to none. May God be.with all those.in Hiatus and the Carribean who lost loved ones..

  74. WO ALL YOU END TIMES ARE COMING SCREAMERS SHUT UP! Natural disasters have been happening since the beginning of time, GO AND READ YOUR HISTORY BOOKS!

    Volcano, Indonesia, 1815 - 80,000dead
    Cyclone, Bombay, 1882- 100,000dead
    Earthquake, China, 1556 - 830,000dead
    Earthquake, Portugal, 1755 -100,000dead
    Earthquake, Turkey, 1268 - 60,000dead
    Flood , the Netherlands,1630 - 100,000dead
THE FREAKING BLACK DEATH THAT AFFECTED THE WORLD AND LASTED ALMOST 400 YEARS!! - 100,000,000dead!!

And these are just the recorded ones!

1000, 500, 300 years before this worse things like this has happened and oh look (looks from side to side) we are still here. Go and park your self-righteous butts somewhere, as if if Jesus comes now you will be won't still be here. Stop pointing to the wood in other people's eyes and pull the BIG FAT LOG in yours!

And all of you saying the US is paying for its sins. God help us all. So Nigeria is a saintly country? Lets not fool ourselves, we are one of the most religious countries but most of us (even me I no go lie) are hypocrites And treat our fellow citizens worse than Dogs! I believe that if God were to unleash his anger on us, hmmmmm.

Oh and honestly, if the US government offered any of you green card, flooding and all, Hm, all of you will jump on the next plane there.

Are any of you God? Are you all knowing? Can you even begin to comprehend the tiniest details behind why the Almighty lets certain things happen? God gave you a brain, think, use you God given nuggen. Ignorance is no excuse.
