Olympics Men's Basketball 2012: Nigerian team loses to team USA

See Carmelo Anthony , Lebron James and Kobe Bryant laughing at us ...lol
Nigeria's men basketball team, D'Tigers, lost to Team USA last night. No surprise there really, the only surprise for me was how the game ended. Nigeria - 73 USA 156. Ouch!

Team USA used our Nigerian team to make Olympics history. They set Olympics record for most points scored in a game. It was also the biggest margin of victory for a USA team with 83 points. And lastly, it was the most threes made (29) in US Olympics history. Up Naija! lol.

But our boys tried sha! There's no shame in being beat by the best, so big kudos to them. If you watched it, what did you think of the game?

  4. I join kobe et al in the laughter. Lol. Truth be told, Nigeria cannot expect to compete with the best with their shambolic preparations for the olympics every goddamn year. Doing the same thing time & again yet expecting different results...Isn't that insanity?

  7. No way we cud win but those boys stop playing in 2nd quarter all they needed to do was to hustle d 3 points shooting

    ReplyDelete
  8. i do not think any Nigerian expected the Americans to lose. It was an opportunity to play with the best. But my problem is the "gheneins" on twitter bashing Nigerians lol. hilarious shit.

  9. I watched it, and they utterly decimated us, and laughed while they did it. But what else do you expect when kobe bryant and Lebron james are on the same team. Then there was carmelo anthony. Stood no chance what so ever

  18. "We didn't play LeBron [James] and Kobe [Bryant] in the second half, and with Carmelo shooting like that, we benched him," Krzyzewski said. "We didn't take any fast breaks in the fourth quarter, and we played all zone. You have to take a shot every 24 seconds, and the shots we took happened to be hit. LOL!!!

The superstars kept coming in waves upon waves on Nigeria, whose players became more spectators than participants in the devastating defeat. The United States had 49 points after a quarter, 78 at halftime, and Nigeria let itself become innocent bystanders.

  23. I watched them smoke these boys and cos I live in America, I was rooting for my Yankee boys but was just impressed that the Nigerian team were even able to qualify and play these NBA beasts.

Ps...didn't even realize that we played bball.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The Nigerian team were clumsy as hell, falling all over the place like "agric" chickens.

Hope they were not selected on "man know man" basis or by Linda Ikeji based on good looks alone.

  32. Yes they tried considering d fact dat US NBA teams are the best but I was really annoyed as the three agbayas(camelo anthony, kobe bryant and lebron james) were laughing @ us.Linda pls Taye Taylor(Taiwo Okunnuga) will be showcasing her clothes 2day @ the african fashion week by 4pm,pls pay attention to her and post the pix. 34. I watched the game last night and my take on it is our government need to do more for our athletes to be more. Thumbs up to the Nigerian basketball team for good effort. Those American guys get the best training, exposure, health checks, pay cheques and any other kind of support one can think of. Folks like Kobe Byrant, Lebron James, live and breath basket ball. I strongly believe we can be like them and get better than them with the right support. When I look at London 2012, the thought in my head is "Why can't we have Nigerian athletes rubbing shoulders with the likes of China, USA and Jamaica?"...Hopefully someday!

  39. I saw the game. I think the naijah boiz had what it takes to play a better game than what they played..even the commentators said it ...though, they might not have been able to defeat the USA team sha! The USA guys won by making 3 points shots, something our boiz could not do!

    ReplyDelete
  40. It is not funny linda! And stop making a mockery of the nigerian basketball team! They played with the best, so wat do u expect? Too bad u find it hilarious*hiss*.this is the first time we are playing basketball at the olympics!
    Thumbs up to the d'tigers

    ReplyDelete
  41. So many things in the mind of our players: Boko Haram, Shambolic roads, Power holding, Badluck administration, problem in health sectors, nepotism in all ramification.
The main problem came from PHCN for their 24hrs uninterupted power supply which we are not used to, those guys became panicking just bcos of that bcos we have used to fluctuating light.

Those guys tried jare! e no easy to attain some level in life but it is easy to do so in Naija with nepotism

    ReplyDelete
  42. Eya, once beaten twice shy. Nigeria is very good at the game of football. Am not surprised. Anyqways, well done and start coming home.

    ReplyDelete
  50. We are not out of the competition o! This is just group stages. If we win one more game we will go through to the Quarter Finals.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I honestly knew they would beat 9ja,but I nvr thought we would get up to 73 points,we did try, they r all NBA players, thank God Norwitzski wasn't there. They tried honestly.

    ReplyDelete
  52. We were beaten by the best,...this is a huge learning curve we just negotiated...things r going to different next time out, checkout my blog at www.clementokundaye.blogspot.com for tips, advise and news on everything finance.

    Nigerians are alwais very funny.
Our bois tried! Playing with the GODs of BBALL. That's some real shit there. Kudos

    ReplyDelete
  57. I was sad wen I watchin it

    ReplyDelete
  58. We NEVER stood a chance against the Americans in that game last night...I mean, these guys eat and drink basketball, there was nothing we would have done about it, and as you said, there is nothing wrong in being beaten by the BEST...We played against the American All Stars, FFs!! what do you expect? Kudos to the Nigerian basketball team, they tried...

    ReplyDelete
  59. I couldn't watch again after the 1st half, the USA boys were rudely laughing at our boys. If our boys had a quarter of their priviledges, the world won't even acknowledge lebron, kobe ,carmelo and all those in team usa

    ReplyDelete
  60. Linda go bk to pry sch. Which 1 b *being beat* abeg no de fall prs hand. Ur diction is poor. International woman like u

    ReplyDelete
  61. It was soooo painful for me watching the US team roast us yesternight. Our guys just refused to fight them. We lost the first five shots that we made, while they made their five five points, all threes. And the score immediately stood at 15-0. Taken that we would have lost the match anyway...but I expected a good fight from D'Tigers.

When I couldnt take it anymore, I went to sleep when the US team made 100 points during the third quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  62. egbami oh, but them try sha, congrats atleast them break record, lol www.tatafonaija.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  63. I can imagine how funny and easy it was for them. I am glad we could even make that much point. They should even be ashamed cos this is our first outing like this. I expected more points from USA since they are regarded as the best. We will meet them in 4 yrs. Ndi ara,lol

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thy have knocked off o. They still have a chance assuming they win their next 2 matches. we cant even begin to compare the two teams abeg. We put up a good fight!

    ReplyDelete
  65. in my opinion, they tried their best and I believe they would do better next time. Those Americans are no joke. I am a basketballer myself and I think the Nigerians will get there.

    ReplyDelete
  66. See lebrons ugly arrogant face, why didn't they wait till they were in their locker or something before laughing. Punks! See Kobe that is laughing, person wey his take do ten ten, plus tahtidiot Carmelo that is not sure whether he is an actor alongside a sportsman. Hisss I hate when people are mocked public hits not fair. See as dem dey laugh our boys, chei!

    ReplyDelete
  67. If dem Born TeamUSA BBall team well make dem enter Match.com..We'll show them our Talent...Lolz..

    ReplyDelete
  68. Firstly all d naija playas were born in yankee and i think they did very well considering they were start struck, i mean if u were competing against beyonce wont u b nervous and make stupid mistakes u wont normally make...

    ReplyDelete
  69. It was obvious USA were going to win even before the Olympic games started but what annoys me is the fact they were laughing during the game. I don't believe countries should be allowed to use professionals in the Olympic games because it is an unfair advantage as we should all be on a level playing field.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Linda SHUT UP

    ReplyDelete
  71. that was a happy slapping session. doubt the US team even broke out one bead of sweat. we are coming back stronger in 4yrs. lol

    ReplyDelete
  72. Lin,..waz dat how bad we were for dem 2 laff at us?..I dint watch d game..NEKS

    ReplyDelete
  73. they actually played with their mentors...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Linda that game was painfulmtonwatch, with the US using our boys for target practice. However, let's not take anything away from our boys. Getting to the Olympics is no mean feat. With the right coaching and support, they can actually challenge the top teams in 4 years. The question is, will our government invest in these boys?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Linda they are not yet out of the olympics they still ve games Vs Argentina and France . Tough admittedly but they are still in it

    ReplyDelete
  76. Lol. Men this Kobe Bryant and Lebron James should hold themselves abeg. What's that, na we come be comedy. But God them beat us, even make Olympic record on top Naija head. God dey. Don't worry #TeamNigeria a day shall come when we sef go go USA go disgrace this American boys. Lebron James laugh was so childish and jst shows himself and Kobe Bryant r not great sportsmen

    ReplyDelete
  77. I mean why is everyone surprised that we lost to the US of A? C'mon, these guys own this game! And i must say, the Nigerian team played well, it could have been worse.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I went to bed after the first half cos I already knew how it would end. First half results were bad enough *covers face*. But seriously, our boys tried sha and it was'nt pleasing to watch the US boys laugh at our faces.

    ReplyDelete
  79. No surprises there for me. We played against the best Team in the world. And our men did a great Job. They were better sportsmen than the American's as well, even after the defeat they held their head up high and complimented the people laughing at them. Honestly no shame at all. Proud of team Nigeria, we need to work hard in years to come but our boys have been great. Bless them

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well,it was a disappointment cos I watched it nd our boys could nt go on after d 3rd qurtr..they became vry weak...na so so 3point those yankee boys dey basket....since we don't hve gold, silver nor bronze, may they'll cme wth GL...

    ReplyDelete
  84. Chei! Well, let Kobe n Co laugh... They will soon meet dia match, then d laughter will fade away. D Tiger, Naija is solidly behind you.

    ReplyDelete

  89. NYC-1 says: The game was a walk-over on Niaja team. Basketball game is a thing of skill, not 'try your luck' thing. Niaja played the best team bcos that was the matching up; is not as if Niaja played their way to the final, and then met the best team. Nigeria should just forget everything about basketball and focus on 'juju' music.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Mehn, twas embarrassing o, forget d best beat us, we lost disgracefully, but who cares we sha made our own record too, highest an African country as scored against dem

    ReplyDelete
  103. so I watched painfully as our boys got their ass beaten, but frankly I think in all fairness D'tigers tried. Basketball is an American thing. Didn't expect the results to have been better. Its kinda like Eyimba utd laying against Barcelona in football!! Atleast we are better than America in some other things like.....I'll get back to you guys on that one. I just hope this acts as an eye opener for our government to take sports more seriously. Damn! but I hate that its on our head history was made *sniff sniff*. P.S that Carmello guy is just real mean! and might handsome too...hehehe

  119. LINDA, IT first appeared embarrassing though, Davis,Lebron Igodahlo and his team mates-team USA kept making 3 point shots as easy as a mashmallow, while Tigers missed many close range ones, anyways they lost to the best team-a lot of NBA guys most of us can ever dream of playing B. ball like!! but we still made history whichever way :) ..

    ReplyDelete
  120. I knew they were going to lose, after all they were playing against the best. The only thing that pissed me off was that they put up an okay offence but didn't play defence at all which was why USA got so many points.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Its A'ight we will learn from it and play better defense next two games. It was kinda expected but I guess that "chicken head" on twitter didn't expect tha cyber beatdown ! lesson - we can do bad by ourselves no help from an ghetto girl.
