Singer Ego Ogbaro's husband loses Camry car to armed robbers

Niyi Ogbaro was robbed at gun point a few nights ago in Lagos. Not only did the robbers make away with the couple's Camry car (like the one in the photo), they also shot at Niyi. Fortunately he wasn't seriously injured.

Now to my question: Why do robbers target mostly Camry cars? Every time you hear that a car was snatched in Lagos, more than half the time it's a Camry. Why?

  5. Camry's are easy to sell off. Plus mostly they have a buyer waiting. Better sell ur Camry and get a Nissan they don't look at em 2ce!

  6. Because Camrys are in ridiculously high demand, same as Honda Accords, personally I won't buy any of those cars even though I was contemplating getting either of them. Changed my mind when my boss at work was killed cos of his 6week old 2010 Camry here in Lagos. Not saying you can't be robbed with any other car but chances are higher in a Camry.

  18. Toyota and Honda cars are the most common in Lagos and Naija also the market demand for them is very high. Imagine going to a wedding reception with your Toyota or Honda car, you are sure to get confused cos there will be many cars of the same brand and colour there. Cars like Mercedes or Jeep brand are very different and harder to steal or blend in with the crowd.

  40. Linda, when I was in Nigeria that robbery happened right in front of me,it was around 10 pm at gowon estate 5th avenue, the robbers hit his back bumper, and came down to like say sorry for hitting him, next thing we saw he was dragging with them, and one of them shot him on the buttocks, they left the car they where and left with his camry,I swear I didn't drive for three days after I saw that scene.
